Very interesting> I spent time with the Greek monks in Florence Arizona that follow Elder Ephraim. They knew more back in 96-97, than most truthers today

    Hi Jay.
    Thanks for this clarity!!!
I left RC and Protestantism and was exploring early church fathers ..and early councils and Athanasius has been a real relief to me. along with Palamas.. And others.. So a real thrill to hear how valued they are in Orthodoxy.
Im so grateful for this clear foundational explanatiin especially the theophanies and essence/energies distinction... Shining light on my confusions....so valuable.
    Soooooo grateful

Jay, this is an excellent introduction into Orthodox theology. Some people are really going to want to start to follow this. You may want to reference the books you cite in your notes, such as Georgios Mantzaridis - The Deification of Man: St. Gregory Palamas and the Orthodox Tradition; St Photios' Mystagogy of the Holy Spirit, as well as St Athanasius' On the Incarnation.
At some point people will want to experience this too. The only way to do that is to check out an Orthodox Church and their worship services. In this, the pieces will start to come together. Get to know a Priest and ask the hard questions too. Orthodoxy is a very, very deep well and satisfies the heart's hunger. Orthodoxy is more than a school of thought. It is the living Church founded from the resurrection, experienced by the apostles and handed down directly from them with no variation from outside of that. Excellent work Jay!

I went to sleep one day and woke up saying Logos and had no clue what it meant. I thought it was a mythical creature or something? I am not Catholic raised Baptist so very weird. The only thing I remembered in my dream is seeing a man with blonde hair to his shoulders and he had a blue robe with a silver cross on his chest he sat across from me an was speaking to me without words. I woke up finding out Logos meant the word of God. I had chills when I found that out. Crazy.

Is the Eternal Logos the single hypostasis that works through two natures of Christ? If so, what would keep the two natures from mixing? Thanks

Did I misunderstand something here, I thought the spirit proceeds from the Father in orthodox dogma, not the Son

Indeed, it is the standard interpretation of the Johannine Scriptures (and apparently the Orthodox Church Fathers as well) today that these Scriptures were directed against Gnosticism. However, a demarcation from Paulinism with its negative view of the flesh seems more plausible to me.
By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. (1Jo 4:17 ESV)
If you are serious about being in the world in the same way as Christ himself as a follower of Christ, that means not only that you also have the Holy Spirit, but also the Logos incarnate. This does not fit with contempt for flesh.
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1Jo 5:12 ESV)

Jay, great video, it helped me alot in understanding what the incarnation was really about. But in regards to the angel of the lord: what about those people who say that the Angel of YHWN was the angel of death? Seems he seems to appear before tragedies in the OT; his presence also have a bad aura around it, being totally incompatible with Jesus. It's this nonsense? Or what?

God is not it? I’m confused myself because I don’t understand why God cannot be both male and female why only as man not woman? Just my thoughts glad you brought it up JD
