    I’ve been using plaqueoff for years. My yorkie Teddie gets a A + from vet every-time and he’s 7 - no plaque never had a cleaning at vet office. I do brush 1-2 times a week.

    Thanks cause trying to get in my cat’s mouth to brush is like trying to get in Fort Knox! Then she looks at me like “Just stop. Why are you doing this? I’ll never open my mouth.” (Insert classic cat stare). 😂

    Awesome, video! I'd also like to advocate for old fashioned green beans (string beans, French beans). They can be a 1 tbsp topper to raw or kibble diets and they add fiber to the diet and they melt plaque. It works on both my dogs, who hate vegetables but love green beans. I used the unsalted canned or I buy fresh or frozen and boil till cooked. then let cool and add to meals. (I don't feed pets raw vegetables due to gas and bloating.)

    I've been coating their biscuits with honey/ coconut oil mixture. And give it to them for their bed time treat. When they crunch the biscuits the mixture gets into every cranny of their teeth and gums.

    When I first got my pomeranian she was 18 months old. I took her to the vet. Vet said according to how bad her teeth was she was 8 yrs old. I started brushing her teeth daily and used coconut oil. I took pics of her teeth to monitor her progress. There was so much improvement. I just recently noticed my 7 yr old male Pom is starting to get the tarter and plaque on his teeth too so now I have to come up with a game plan for HIM. He’s not as cooperative in getting his mouth messed with so I think this is gonna be fun, NOT! Btw I knew my girl was actually 18 months and not 8 yrs cuz I had her paperwork.

    • @alexandrakennedy8078
      @alexandrakennedy8078 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That really something how your Vet thought your Pom was 8 yrs by her teeth when she was really only 18 months. I wish I'd know this info years ago for my little rescue dogs. They had bad teeth and were impossible to let me clean their teeth. It was like they thought I was going to torture them or something.

    • @mystikskye
      @mystikskye ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@alexandrakennedy8078 tbh I think my Willow was kept in a cage all her life and just neglected. When I first got her her paws were all splayed out like she had been in a cage all that time. Not too long after I got her she started having seizures and I’m sure they didn’t just start when I got her. So either she was so neglected that the owner never saw the seizures or she knew about them and that’s why she decided to get rid of her. I’ll never know but she’s in safe hands now. When she came to me she was shaved down to bare skin and when I asked the lady why she did that, cuz everyone knows you don’t shave Poms like that, she told me she didn’t like cleaning up all the fur she shedded a few times a year. Poms SHED! If you don’t want a dog that has all that fur and sheds get a freaking chihuahua! Can you tell I’m STILL pissed even after 2 yrs?? Willow is the sweetest dog ever, despite where she came from.

      @@mystikskye did you use a pet toothbrush or just your finger with the coconut oil? Thank you!!!

    • @mystikskye
      @mystikskye ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dianasimplifies I used a toothbrush and sometimes used a rechargeable sonic toothbrush. I actually just bought a new one the other day to use on my boy. Luckily I’ve never had a problem using any kind of device like that on my dogs. I use a dremel for their nails and the only thing I have to watch out for with that is sometimes I get the fur on their paws twisted up in it but even doing that every so often doesn’t make them afraid of me using it! If you think your dog wouldn’t like the toothbrush then you could use your finger or even a qtip.

And fight the teeth brushing. They fight the care. More so when the dogs age. They get crankyyyy. Lol

      My vet told me he doesn't brush his dogs teeth. He just takes them in and does dentals on them. Now he's in with a vet demanding a bunch of vaccines prior to surgery so I'm having to find other alternatives which is prob good bc the dentals are kind of short lived for my dog. His breath is awful. Maybe some of these tips will help.

    Studies: about green tea studies, those who drink a lot of green tea also have a higher percentage of people who don't eat sweets, junk food, lots of vegetarians and other "granola" types a a higher than normal percentage in the mix. So it might not even be the tea. I'm not saying it doesn't work - just saying some of these studies don't think of everything, and methodology might be off.

    The plaque off worked for my dog with the most plaque, but results showed around six months while eating dental sticks. What really helps is chewing. My other dog is not a chewer so I’ve been mixing in some kibble in his food. He plays with his dental sticks and ignores biscuits/treats. My youngest dog had some plaque build up and it went away within the first week. She loves to chew and eats any treats (including dental) without a second thought.

    this video was gold for me. I have a rescue who had a very bad first 3 yrs of her life, and when I got her, she did have one teeth cleaning under anesthesia. She developed a stage IV heart murmuur and mitral valve issue the next year, so unfortunately she cannot go under anesthesia for cleaning. Compared to Tula, I cannot hardly even see her teeth; that is how hard it is for me to get into her mouth. Ive tried brushing with the finger brushes, a small brush, you name it but it is like wrestling an alligator each time I brush. I am going to try these remedies of which I have most of them at the moment. Cheap alternatives as well. Thank you so much for this.

It is slowly but surely removing tartar and their breath is fresher too and teeth look whiter. Poms, mini poodles, Pom mixes. I use colloidial silver gum and skin infections works great.

    Raw bones will clean even bad tarter buildup if you can get an older dog to chew. May take a few times since the teeth/gums may be sensitive. If they chew and clean up some of the tarter, give them a few days and more bone and they will progress to more teeth.
