    Great video, I know the area well as I was born in Hertford just down the road and grew up in Hoddesdon. I also have bought similar footwear to deal with Plantar Fasciitis (both feet), and can recommend Hoka as an amazing brand for relief (Vanquish, Bondi, Speedgoat, they even do Waterproof ones now).

    Oh man.Looked forward to this when the advanced notice popped up. Lived not far from there (albeit in a less monied area) until late last year & then moved to Scotland (where it rains a lot) so feeling very homesick for the breaks in winter weather and access to the English countryside (daft as there’s plenty of countryside up here. Just laid out differently) albeit blighted by the noise of the A1M & the like. Never did visit G B Shaw’s House. Shameful. There’s a relaxing walk not far away from there,partly along the Hertfordshire way, starting at Harpenden station across to St Albans, same sort of distance I think.
    Enjoyed that. Good info re walking gear as a fellow plantar f. sufferer. And streeeeetch.

      Will look into that Harpenden walk. Thanks dude. As for plantar f treatment I also use this Black Roll Mini to take everywhere with me after a mate recommended it. It is light and amazing after trying other rollers: amzn.to/2HtepRn

    The cure for plantar fasciitis is to mostly walk on your toes for 2 week and do lots yoga stretches on your legs and hips. It'll reset your walking stride to young mode.

    Hi Commissioner :D I've just had a lovely relaxing time rewatching all of your walking videos :D
    I'd call that sculpture "Kampos Knifr" aka "Stabby Sea Monster"
    Are you related to Ebenezer Howard?
    I used to loathe sheep. Frequently travelled to and from Hereford when I was a nipper and got proper stroppy at how many there were. Pretty sure that's the first time I ever swore. I reckon my parents had a right laugh hearing me shouting "Bastard Fluffers!" during my frequent tantrums.
    Stay Cool :D

    I'm not a fan of crossing golf courses either. I've had a few golfers (I'd like to use another word...) stop and stare at me as if I've ruined their day. What I really dislike is the lack of waymarking across so many of them... There's one near Bath that greets you with 'please keep to the footpath' signs. But once you're through the gate, there's not a hint as to the way forward. I found my way out eventually - I think I hopped over a wall and without being shouted at.
    Those look like barefoot style shoes. They're regarded as being better for our feet in many ways. I'm fed up of 'non-toe shaped' footwear and will always be looking for a wider toe box in the future. Glad to hear you're overcoming plantar fasciitis. I have similar problems with my right foot.
    I'd always wondered how green Welwyn Garden City might be... But it looks more like a town?!

    • @cdwc
      @cdwc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I've found that most of the golf courses you have to walk through are really bad at marking out the paths, I think they don't want you to be there so they ignore marking the paths in the hope walkers will disappear.
      As for the Altra trainers, the wide toe box makes such a massive difference. It is incredible. They are really expensive but definitely worth it. I think my plantar fasciitis stemmed from having too narrow shoes. I really don't understand why all shows aren't made feet shaped.
      I looked at the barefoot trainers but I don't think they have the same cushioning which I have found really helpful.

    • @WalksWithOlly
      @WalksWithOlly 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cdwc To be honest, I don't tend to like the company of regular golfers so maybe it's for the best!! 😁
      Cushioning is an interesting one. Some prefer the close-to-the-ground 'zero drop' but I guess it also depends on what we do and how our feet are. It must be tough (and expensive) to wear barefoot shoes in every moment of our lives.

    • @cdwc
      @cdwc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cool man. I haven't got enough subscribers to monetise this channel. Also from my other channel I think I have made about 150 videos and perhaps made about £800 in total from monetisation in about ten years. They've probably cost at least ten times that. Ha. I just put it on there to help towards the cost of the videos. I've come to terms with the fact that I won't be a youtube success. How do you get the algorithm to like you?

    • @thomrobs98
      @thomrobs98 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cdwc that's the problem. Nobody knows what the algorithm is. It changes daily, like the enigma machine but more sinister. Chris winter has started doing some videos about monetisation, it used to the consistency was king, but honestly who knows anymore?
