I only had a square 10m yard to start my 13hh pony in so we went with that.......and it was interesting as you say. The square yard worked fine and really did show when the connection was on me, the fence, or totally lost in a corner somewhere.

I have a square... A bit smaller than the video, but large enough that my horse could get enough of a run to scale the gate. Twice. But he circles nicely in a small circle around me on good days.

Dan, what I am seeing is the horse stops and swings hind quarters away from you. Your vector is not on the horse, rather you have your shoulder toward the horse and you are walking toward the hindquarters. So when you switch and draw the horse by walking backwards, how do you stop the hindquarters from swinging away when you stop? I recall Dan James talking about this but I don't remember what he said to resolve the hind from swinging away rather than staying on the track? thank you, these teachings are most helpful.

Ok. My horse slways wants to be close to me a.d when across the pen from me, she stays facing me. The whio does nothing to get her feet moving. Sugggestions?

What do you do if the horse looks at you before you invite him to?I was working with 1 horse using Parelli for 10 years...I would always just turn my back when he looked at me and he would walk right in and follow me everywhere. We had such a great relationship that I was able to ride bridleless! I recently heard something that you shouldn't let the horse come into you when they want, but rather when you ask...would love your opinions/suggestions on maybe setting it up so that way he doesn't turn in until I invite him to join? Nice one, Dan Steers. Good and quick results. Precise releases and adequate praising. If only you had forgotten the whip at home thus being forced to use your bare arms and hands to give the directions, I would have "loved" this video.
