      I have an 8.25" alien workshop from 10 years ago with standard Independents, 58mm 87a OJ's and 1/8" riser pads. Cruiser/longboard wheels are better if you can make them work. I have a shaped Santa Cruz cruiser with 9" Krux trucks. I wanted to put 60mm cruiser/longboard wheels on it. It took 5/8" or 15mm of riser pads to stop it from wheel biting. Im 220lbs so...

    i wish videos like this existed 15+ years ago, or atleast educating skating a little more on hardware, but back than it was skate or die so as long as you had a board you were set, unfortunently for me i ended up moving from cali as a kid and didnt comprehend the difference or physics at play for wheels and trucks, so ended up not being able to skate anywhere on rough roads with a board meant for parks now that i got more of a the peralta shaped boards and similar wheels it feels good to skate again with ease

    just bought a mini cruiser today, ive had much fun with it. its pretty much a beefier wood penny board. 7” indy trucks, 78a indy super soft bushings, 1/4 risers and just some 61mm penny wheels I had lying around.

    I got some 80s, and fell in love. NYC streets are rough though. I ended up getting a loaded fish though. The larger wheels and deck height really took on the cracks.

    Been skating since 97 and I’ve never heard about skating a bigger board. How are you suppose to hit random spots you find if you are riding a bigger board? No need to be extra, if you are skating for travel just ride your regular board.

      I've been skating since about the same time and I don't do crazy shit anymore but the challenge of the different shaped boards makes my little gaps and core tricks more fun over time. Snapped my arm in half when I was 25 and realized I had to care about money and work more than doing big gaps. An old Powell replica deck or any newer shaped deck with some wide trucks and 78a wheels with some risers are so much more fun. I ride my skateboard and not a bike when I go for rides with my girlfriend or friends so it's nice to have speed and comfort and still get it off the ground when ya want. even though I can't do it I've seen plenty of people do technical tricks on my board, lost 60 bucks to this kid that did three hard flips In a row on my powell gelfand tank reissue deck 😎

    • @Pause0
      @Pause0 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Longboarding is just a different sport to core skating, it's not about hitting a spot (unless your tech sliding or smth). Some boards are about cruising, some about going fast and some are about just having a bunch of space on your board to have fun with. Don't loom at them through a park skaters lens.

    Those wheels are amazing I ride them in 52mm and they can perform basically the same as a 60mm wheel with the same duro. So I’d say compared to some other bigger options it’s a great wheel. So light and very good in the crust. Not rock proof tho but lighter than a big soft wheel.

      If you feel fine on an 8 just make that your cuirser board. Not going to be. HUGE difference, it will feel wider though, that's about it. I usually rode 8s and I got an 8.6 shaped setup and you can tell/feel it's wider (because it is) id say go for it for your cruiser board. You can get a land yacht or make your own custom complete, check out some of the shaped decks, then you can add whatever trucks, bearings, and wheels you want to make it your own
