    I'm 63 and never was interested in how cotton was harvested. I found it fascinating to watch, thank you.

    So happy to see you guys cotton footage from this year. I like getting the inside scoop on how the cotton picker works. Makes me wish that I could come out there to see it firsthand. Congrats on the 5k, and great video as always.

    Great video. I lived on a farm in my younger days and loved the cotton picking machine. Back then there was only the 2 row picking machines. Always loved to see how things worked. Thank you for doing what you do and it seems like you enjoy it a lots.

    Thanks to your cousin for working with the cameras. I never get a chance to see these newer Deere machines in action when I'm driving between Amarillo and DFW. I'm either too early in the season or too late.

    So, those pretty blue seeds I liked back in May did not grow up to be cotton candy after all? Dang it! I appreciate Tommy taking the camera with him and providing the extra footage. He's coming after your TH-cam job, Conley! Too bad we only got 15 minutes of it, but he got some great angles of the machine, and we'll take what we can get.

    Five bales to the acre?! WOW!! That’s just about unheard of around here. And I like how y’all plant in a circle with the pivots. I want to come pick cotton with y’all! Tell ya cousin he did a good job on getting different angles of the process. Especially in the bale chamber, that was cool! I’ve never picked with a baler picker, so I really enjoyed that!

    That was some great shots. Thanks for sharing. May I ask what's the difference between a cotton stripper and cotton picker?

    • @conleybanman
      @conleybanman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The cotton stripper strips everything off of the plant cotton burs and all, and separates it via a bur extractor. The picker picks just the cotton and leaves the burs on the plant

    Nice cotton! Is that upland or Pima. In the Panhandle we mostly grow semi irrigated 2 ba/ac. because our growing season is too short to grow over 3 bale / ac.

    • @conleybanman
      @conleybanman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Upland cotton. The variety we planted was phytogen. We do seem to have somewhat of a long season, if we have really good water we can get up to 3-4 bale/ac. Further down south we get around 5 bale/ac.

    I have 1200 acres of cotton this year. Mostly in 40 acre or less fields. I have a bunch of 5, ,7, 12, 15 acre dry corners outside the pivot circle. Our largest pivot is 7 towers, smallest ones are 2 tower. It is very inefficient farming compared to what you are doing. Watching you makes me realize just how much of a joke my farm is.
