- This is a review and unboxing for the limited edition deluxe version of the new AC/DC album Power Up. Just like in the music video for Shot In The Dark, the neon sign powers up and flashes. It also plays the intro to Shot In The Dark through its own speaker. A charging cable is included with the package.

Just bought this special deluxe edition for 15 bucks and some change !!! I had recently bought the stand alone cd at Barnes and nobles for pretty much the same price ! Good thing I still have my receipt !!! Rock on bro !

I agree I see this packaging a lot like Tool’s. But I do wonder how Tool did their’s for less or they just chose to make less money. Either way, both bands who should not be selling enough records to enter the charts at #1 are doing so because of their physical packagings. It goes to show you that when done right the fans will still buy it. Hopefully it will eventually come back as the art form it still is.
This limited edition is really great. The flickering light and the sounding are amazing gimmicks. I think a die hard fan must have it. The album is excellent and Brian Johnson and the other guys did an excellent job. Brian Johnson's voice is so awesome, it is a little wonder. The tracks are relativ short and the guitar solos minimized ,but it really fits. Malcolm is absent, of course. R.i.p.
The sound effect for the flickering neon is probably the best part. For me I don’t even need the song Shot In The Dark playing. And despite the short songs and minimal solos it all works really well. No complaints except I want more! Haha
I was wondering what the deluxe edition looked like. Myself, I went for the vinyl which sounds fantastic. Good video!

I couldn’t agree me! Must keep physics media alive. These kind of releases are not only fun, but interesting, and bring the user, if you’re a collector like me, so much joy.
Looks really nice. Today i bought the cd and the vinyl. Happy the album is doing so well, its good for them and for the scene.
I hope the success of a number of these classic rock bands making new albums helps spur along other bands that have been hesitant showing there is still a market for good music.

I just finished watching your AC/DC PWR UP review video and thought that was crazy about the word Rock not appearing in any of the songs, of course I had to check for myself and it was true, I just thought that was funny how someone would think to research that...
There are some diehard super fans out there that chronicle everything! I never would have thought of it either if I hadn’t read about it. Cool piece of trivia though.

It’s such a good title. Maybe they wrote one but it got left off as they felt other songs were stronger. In the old days we would have gotten some b-sides on singles.

I almost opted not to get it but I’m a collector and once I turned it on it put a big smile on my face.
As usual i really enjoyed this review ...i bought the standard cd ...and vinyl edition of pwr up and probably will get the box set. Ac dc are one of the few bands that i have the complete discography not only on cd but on vinyl as well....australian version albums included.....the only missing item is the backtracks amplifier set....even though i have the backtracks 2cd dvd version.you just gave me the right input to get this pwr up deluxe edition cd as well even though in italy the price is a rip off 59 euros.....it means i will get it from amazon as well.
love the music but not even tempted to buy this paper box that lights up.

Actually acdcs first album came out in 1974 high voltage Australian version
No it didn’t come out until 1975. The international version came out in 1976. There was no release in 1974.

See that to me is too pricy. The standard CD by itself was only $10. Why should vinyl cost three times as much. I know, I know some people will claim sound quality but that’s too much cost difference just to capitalize on a niche market. IDK, I guess that’s what the limited deluxe edition is for too...that’s how they got me! Haha

To me the whole vinyl things is record companies being greedy. It doesn’t cost that much to produce vinyl. For that kind of money they should be including some sort of deluxe or limited edition product. Vinyls should be more of a thing with bigger booklets, stickers, posters, alternate album covers, etc. Then I would understand the added costs.
*Is that all that the special edition does?* Lights up & then plays a little bit of "Walk in the park"? Not even the full song? Hmmm... it doesn't seem like it's worth $37.00 more than just the standard CD ($13). I know, I know collectors will love it but I'll pass. After all it's about the music not cheap gimmicks.
You’re right it is about the music...but you don’t seem to know it too well. The song is “Shot In The Dark”. Special editions aren’t for everyone. But for those that want something extra it’s a nice plus.
