This is why everybody needs to learn one skill at an expert level because I think it’s the only way to bring this much joy into your life. The feeling that one gets when they’re in the zone it’s undescribable.
They are actually playing this as double jazz fusion in remembrance of Shaun Martin’s craft and solo piano during Snarky Puppy live stage performance Just don’t know why they forgot to mention him😢
Ok let's talk about 2:45 for a second. The simplest thing ever. So simple you could almost do it as a mistake if you were moving around too much... But intentionally just landing on that half step down...THEN, Batiste picks it up in that same key, but drives it across town, around the lake, and back into the original key to cap off that round with a crazy solo. Goodness what a sight and sound to witness!!!!! 🤯🎹
I know, right? In a situation where two of the best pianists on the planet are jamming together, I wish I knew what to say other than, "holy shit... wow."
This was fun to watch. I never got the hype about Jon. He always just sounded like a normal trained musician. Cory on the other hand is a different beast. His gospel roots show through, enabling complex improvisation for other genres. Both are great musicians tho. This is definitely a duet not a duel.
@@mauricemcguillicutty4746 it’s also basically dueling pianos on a single piano. Both competition and collaboration but every bit fun. Like he said, open to interpretation🙂

Yea Cory Henry and Yea Jon Baptiste. Legends doing legendary things.
But the drummer vibing like it’s a Sunday afternoon is wild.
There's a pretty good chance it was actually a Sunday afternoon.

I need to work on my vocabulary I get stuck in situations like this
I know, right? In a situation where two of the best pianists on the planet are jamming together, I wish I knew what to say other than, "holy shit... wow."
@@eheveronsmith I thought he was talking about improvisational vocabulary, but both apply!
@ (haha I know, I just decided to take it in a different direction)
Nah they rehearse the things you think are on the fly
Agreed but how does work on musical vocabulary? By listening to more music, playing more? I play bass and I also need to. Please assist.
Deux grands artistes. Extrêmement généreux avec leurs public. Parmi les plus intéressants depuis maintenant quelques années 👍. ❤.
2 of the worlds greatest musicians...if this isn't the best thing...idk what is 😊😊😊
Everyone knew when to end, Splendid!

Good grief that is the place to be! Jacob Collier, Cory Henry and Jon Batiste - what more could you ask for?

Por favor!
🎉🎉🎉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎹
c'est incroyable les humains
Damn the guy with glasses is 🔥
The great Corey Henry is no joke one of the greatest of all time
@dsanders799 Just so you know, he spells his name "Cory".
Whoops ! Someone forgot to hire a sound guy. oh - just a minor detail. :)
🔥
Where’s Hiromi?
It's not a duel, it's a duet. Not competition, but collaboration. Stop titling things so sensationalistically.
Call it what you want, I’ll call it what I want. That’s the beauty of music. Left for one to interpret.

I didn't know that Batiste was good enough to play with Henry. Batiste is mainstream. I'm not hating on mainstream.
What????? Juilliard grad and Grammy winner??
Nah that guy can really play. Seen him at the bluenote, he cold as hell on the ivory!
lol you new around these parts man he good good
Jon Baptiste is next level, few if any can rival let alone beat him on keys !
Jon used to play with Wynton Marsalis!
Maybe. But, will you please sing that song when I saw you at #cArnegie hall a few years Ago! I can sing. I can dance. I can laugh…
What a circus ...music has taken some collateral damage though.
