It's funny, this is the new Pop, Ghetto Pop, it's crazy that the audience that thrives on this music and its shady, anti-social themes are the cultural tourists from upper working-class and middle-class backgrounds, this music provides the soundtrack to their parties and events, and it authenticates the persona of the black minstrel, I can almost see them shucking and jiving in full black face and White mouth makeup with their eyes rolling in their head " Yus'm Massa, did I say Nigga enuff? do u wants me to put in mo' stabbing and drug tales massa? then will you pay me likes we agreed massa?" it also provides a false narrative that this is the authentic life of Black people, that we are uneducated and illiterate and the only way to make money is to make substandard music behind the guise of "It's telling our story" it's not my story but I know a lot of young black people who want it to be their story so that they can fit in, a lot of them are now in jail, or battered single mums watching the wayward babyfather spending child support on Belenciagas for the new video shoot in 'a Endz'
They "bounce back" and then promote the same lifestyle that almost cost them their lives? causing other impressionable young people to make the exact same mistakes and ruin their chances of success just for some street clout 🤦🏽♂️
