How about just the soviet casualties alone in ww2, about 27 million, the battle of stalingrad alone was about 1.1 million, battle of rzhev, if we go with the higher estimate, that puts it at 2.3 million on the soviet side, there is a reason why that entire battle was refered to as the rzhev meat grinder

this is literally the best humanity can be in the darkest of times, they knew they were doing the most horrible things a person can do yet knew they could find a time to actually be people, not weapons, at the time WW1 was the most horrific act of violence that has ever occurred to humanity Even though the aftermath would prove to be even worse then these men here would ever know, they knew what was happening was more awful than anything that has happened before, they took a moment to carry on being humans for briefest of times before becoming weapons again.
