Costco has very low premiums on their gold and silver. It’s not hard to check their prices and you get cash back for your purchases so it’s a no brainer. I prefer to buy from my local coin shop but Costco has good buying power and they pass the savings along. They just don’t have a lot of variety and they sell out quickly.
Got a 10oz silver bar at Costco the other day in person that was cheaper than had I got it at SDBullion online with shipping cost. I used that as my gauge of it being a fair deal before buying.
Here in NJ it's over $1000 is exempt from sales tax which is new for 2025, although when you read the actual bill it says bullion is exempt from the $1000 threshold whereas something more collectible like a numismatic is not but the definitions in the law are all messed up, you can tell it was written by someone that Googled the subject for 10 minutes. I noticed that online bullion dealers have different setups in their checkout systems, some charge tax, some don't, some will only charge tax on certain items. 🤦🏻♂️
I am in NJ. eBay, SD, DBS, Apmex, Liberty are all charging sales tax. I have read NJ public law 2024 chapter 64. My understanding is that bullion is not taxed at all and investment coins(precious or non-precious) valued $1,000+ are not taxed.
@@iannetta11 That is correct. Unfortunately the media didn't do their due diligence as per usual and the word is out it's $1000 threshold on ANY coin, round or bar which is not the case unless I'm reading the bill wrong.
If you find yourself in a coin store, in a red county of California, ask the store owner if he’s friend of the governor. When he says no, put the exact dollar amount for the desired item on the counter and request the item. He will put the item on the counter and take your money. You then take the item. No tax, no receipt, no questions.
With no local coin stores within 400 miles and no Costcos within a hundred miles. I've built my whole stack from a couple online bullion houses. 96% of which have come from SD bullion. I've placed an order every two weeks for 5 years straight now. Out of all those orders I have never even came close to having the need to call customer service. Never no surprises or disappointments.
No sales tax in Va. Plus less expensive than online sellers. Not to mention 4-5% back by using your Costco CITI card. It's actually a no-brainer. Buyer beware and know the rules for buying in your state but it's a fantastic deal.
Yes, a year or so ago, I tried to purchase bullion via eBay, and was careful to make the purchase exceed $500.00 so as to avoid the sales tax. Sales tax was still added on, however, so I cancelled the purchase and bought direct from the online bullion dealer instead.
I have bought 1 oz. Of American Buffalo, Diwali gold coin and bar and I have not paid any taxes on precious metals. Can wait for more purchases at COSTCO.
NJ ended sales tax on bullion starting January 1st 2025 via Public Law 2024 chapter 64. As of today, eBay and several bullion dealer websites are charging sales tax. HELP !!!!
I’ve been buying the 10 ounce $50 coin at the same price as the 10 ounce bar. They both come in custom capsules which usually come with a premium else where. It would suck to buy the 10 ounce coin at a higher premium.
When I buy online I try to go to Bullion Dealers closer to my geographic location. I've experienced some shipping problems (loses) with shipments coming from OK, CA, NV, OR, WA the past 2 years. So I usually go to Monument Metals or Bullion Exchanges. Both lower priced than SD Bullion more often then not.

Two different bar in stock my costco 2 hours ago. Pamp Gold 10z KOI FISH bar in pretty assay card... $2679.99---- Pamp silver 10 oz Lady of Liberty $319.99 4% combined costo/citicard cash back. Hawai'i charges tax on anything and everything. No way to get around it. Even with the tax, it's very close to spot.

Shipping from SD Bullion is free on orders over $199

They love to put gold in assay cards because they get away with faking it
