it's the 'I win by any means necessary' method of the Brian Flemming types (remember when that guy was popular? think "blasphemy challenge). throw a bunch of contradictory "anti" arguments at your opponent hoping they won't have time to address them all and be distracted by the bluster and false confidence then declare victory and recruit others to parrot your talking points. if you want to see it play out in movie form, watch the endings of "Clue" and "JFK" (only 8 more days btw)

Because most of us have actually read the bible and some like me have 6 years of christianity and its history from school .
If we take the bible literally , Hebrew and Greek words meaning “abortion” do not appear in either the Old or New Testament of the Bible..
So you cant use bible to ban abortion , when there is nothing about it , there is miscarriage and maximum penalty to cause one to some others mans wife is a fine .
If you suspect that your wife is not pregnant with your baby , you have her drink bitter water , that causes miscarriage if the child was not yours ... thats about closest to modern abortion you get , when over 90 % of abortions are done chemically and the Bible support that .
Christian church did not consider fetus even being alive before 15-16 weeks of pregnancy , when thats when fetus starts moving and if you want to complain about that then go and whine about it to St Augustine of Hippo , hes a saint in all 4 biggest christian churches , Catholic , Orthodox , Ev.Lut and Anglican , he died in year 430 .

Paedophilia? What exactly does the word mean to you? Because to some feminists it would include things that according to Catholic moral doctrine as well as Church law are perfectly licit.
If I was in love with a 14 year old girl in 1996, if I had hopes to date her under her parents' supervision, and next year ask the "governor's" or "county sheriff's" permit to marry her, this is in no way against Catholic Church law, but in the eyes of some feminists back there in Sweden, it was paedophilia to even look at her before she was 15.
Now, it can be added, I knew her parents were roughly speaking conservatives, they would be voting Moderaterna, I think. The shock and bad turnaround in my life came, when I found out they were capable of sharing that type of feminist prejudice or put it at the account of possible madness that I had come to tell her "I love you" that evening a few days before her 14th birthday. By the way, she's obviously so old by now I hope she's already married - to someone else.

I don't think I have ever seen anything of substance when it comes to this debate, especially with how it is conducted. Most take the debate over the Bible and Abortion to be a battle of proof-texts and I think that is a simplistic way to approach it. One should look at what Biblical data as a whole says and what Systematic Theology says to the issue. For example, whether a theology of the body provides any good defeaters for the pro-choice intuition that you can do whatever you want to and in your body without having any obligations to innocent human beings.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

@@r.c4914 I hadn't considered any of that. Thanks.
Catholics routinely attack the Protestant "invisible church" insisting that's not what Christ founded. I find the innovations of Vatican 1 re church and papal primacy to be unconvincing. I find Cardinal Henry Newman's paper to be a post hoc rescue of previously existing beliefs that cannot be questioned. I find the Reformed reading of church history and ecclesiology overwhelmingly more sound than Catholicism, far less epistemically expensive, with far less cognitive dissonance. (The worst, but perhaps more intellectually coherent formulation of Christianity is probably Calvinism -- aside from the total internal bankruptcy of fringe Catholics like the SSPX.) I find the kangaroo courts in early ecumenical councils like Nicea II to make a strong prima facie case of the absurdity of Catholic ecclesiology. It really stretches credulity to take the claims Rome makes about itself seriously. Obviously one thinks of the problem of the phenomenal shell of the Catholic church being conceptually separate from the noumenal, precious, incorruptible, indefectible ideal... that doesn't correlate to any concrete, identifiable properties in the real world. Does this amazing One True church exist in reality? No it doesn't. (And of course it doesn't. It would be falsifiable if that were the case.) No lack of holiness or unity ever counts against the Oneness or Holiness of Rome, which remains ever out of reach. The invisible church of Rome.
But you've missed the point. Regardless of how you think the Bible was compiled and by whom, "the church" as described in its pages never refers to a hierarchical organization. This isn't a point up for debate, I wasn't stating opinion. Please suppose I could absolutely point you to many resources.

Doesn't it strike you as odd, that if Catholicism is true, channels like this with fallible guys and gals giving their thoughts exist... within Catholicism? Be real: you have no demonstrable, functioning epistemology based on your One True Church such that in a situation like this you can easily call up the infallible reading of Numbers 5, or ask for one.

And Joseph burst into tears. And the priest said: I will give you to drink of the water of the ordeal of the Lord, and He shall make manifest your sins in your eyes. And the priest took the water, and gave Joseph to drink and sent him away to the hill-country; and he returned unhurt. And he gave to Mary also to drink, and sent her away to the hill-country; and she returned unhurt. And all the people wondered that sin did not appear in them. My Finnish Bible (1933/38 translation) mentions fertility once in the whole Numbers 5:11-31 passage, and that's the closest word mentioned that's even related to pregnancy. Even if we falsely presupposed and attempted to intrepret that the passage talks about miscarriage, instead of reading it plainly as it is, even then it would only vaguely imply miscarriage.

Abortion is never directly mentioned in the bible. I understand it's still forbidden under the commandment not to murder. Why do you think the Didache mentions abortion directly, but the bible does not? I've wondered that since I read the Didache.

25:56 Before Trent starts to answer, here is my take.
To St. Thomas Aquinas, apart from some miraculous pregnancies (Our Lord, Our Lady and St. John), the normal fetus didn't become a human being before day 40.
This means, to him, very early abortions weren't murder. But they were still the highest degree of sin against nature, even before sodomy and bestiality. And obviously, he had no qualms about these crimes being punished by death both in the Old Law and in the contemporary Christian legislation, ergo, he was very far from proposing legality of abortion.
This view of the fetus is taken over from Aristotle, and perhaps Avicenna too. It was not there in the early Church Fathers, and in St. Thomas' own time quite a lot of Eastern Orthodox (or even all of them) took the opposite view, voiced by St. Basil or St. John Chrysostom (I think Basil). And some of these were perhaps still in double communion (like Kyiv was in communion both with Rome and Constantinople) and some of these alse were later united to the Catholic Church.
So, St. Thomas' view should not be taken as being that of the Church universal back then.

Trent I need you to take a look at Jason Whitlock's show on TH-cam called Fearless. He did two different shows talking about the "Black Hebrew Israelite" faith. I need and want you to rebutt this. Too many people are falling for this false ideology. 😪

He said “if you don’t believe me open it up for yourself” well I did KJV says it rots her thigh which (means she becomes infertile I think?)
CSB Says it makes your womb shrivel
ESV Says it makes your thigh fall away
NIV is the only one that says miscarriage

First, I think the arguments are the right ones. I tell to myself, when in doubt, go to the latin version, in this case "putrescere faciat femur tuum, et tumens uterus tuus disrumpatur". There's a reason why our Holy Mother the Church uses Latin as the main language. Second, even if God ordered a miscarriage (which is not the case), there is a similar situation in the new testament, when Jesus Christ "corrected" the law of Moses. I'm talking of the "divorce" situation. Even if the law of Moses allowed for abortion (which is not the case), Jesus Christ has already given the way that law should be interpreted.

I find the opposite. Prolife are usually religious. Those with religious views don't defend abortion by law but by scripture.
