Omg hi, I'm ravenfaerie(now oceansoulart) lmao. This video was very well put with a lot of valid points. I 100% believe Diaval is in love with her. The first Maleficent novel hinted, and the new Maleficent book called Heart of The Moors confirmed that. Even Sam Riley confirmed that he loves her in a recent interview
Coffee Cat I saw that interview! In another, an interviewer asked him if he thought about what the characters were doing in the years between the end of the first and the beginning of the second when he was going into shooting the second and he admitted that he did. He said that he wondered if Diaval was still her servant and if she had noticed him yet. Safe to say that Sam is 100% all for their characters to be in a relationship

At the end of the first one during Aurora's coronation. Instead of looking at Aurora as she is being crowned, Diaval's eyes were on Maleficent. He was also looking at her that night when Aurora met Maleficent. She was put to 'sleep' and again Diaval looked at Maleficent as they walked away. Also they have matching rings.
There’s a part in the movie where he’s standing awfully close to her. When they deliver Phillip to the palace and drop him in front of the door, you can see them hiding so the pixies won’t see them and he’s standing right in front of her. I can’t see Maleficent letting anyone stand that close to her, but she lets him do it. Even when she brought Aurora to the Moors for the first time and she got a little too close, she ended up putting her to sleep. But Diaval was literally standing almost cheek to cheek with her. He didn’t have to be that close, he could have stood beside her against the wall, but he didn’t.

Honestly I don’t ship em. Theres just a certain line between Diaval and Maleficent. Diaval has changed from a servant to a dear friend/companion but I think love is taking it a little bit to far. Just an opinion...

This is late but in the 2nd movie right before the dinner scene, when they arrive and the king makes small talk but she talks it as insult, Diaval steps really close to her to calm her down. But that's not all. I hadn't noticed it before, but a servant was walking up to Maleficent to take her cloak, but Diaval shooed them away and Tok it off himself. Throughout both films he is very protective and doesn't let people invade her personal space as he knows that makes her feel uncomfortable, yet she lets him get that close. She trusts him completely.
There's actually a book about Maleficent, a novel version of the movie and believe me, Diaval certainly has a crush on Maleficent. I can't explain it because it's a little long but it has it in the novel and as a Maleval fan (Diaval and Maleficent) my shipping heart literally smiled with happiness :3 ♡♡♡
EDIT: FIND SAM RILEY'S INTERVIEW. He literally explained that Diaval is in love with Maleficent!!! MY SHIPPING HEART IS BURSTING WITH HAPPINESS!!

Alright here's gonna be some spoilers as I've watched Maleficent 2 over 10 times already. This ship still continues in the new one. Although the trailer of the movie doesn't show what happens when Diaval tells Maleficent about Aurora and Phillip getting engaged, he does say "please. stay calm" to Maleficent after she flies off and says "Don't ruin my morning." He also helps her learn her greeting when they go to visit Phillip's parents. As well as him walking past Maleficent and standing in front of her almost completely when Aurora comes to them about Maleficent wearing the scarf to dinner. As well as Maleficent saying "It's more than I can bare", he does a chuckle laugh, knowing she's lying. He as well stays very close with her when they cross the tree roots bridge to Ulstead (also saying "mhm" after Maleficent saying "Humans are hilarious" along with saying "it's getting better" and looking at Maleficent after she nods at some kids). He does look at her quite a lot still in the new one, but also help her out with the humans. As shown in the trailer of Diaval and Maleficent walking in to the dinner room to meet Phillip's parents, he does stay close to her and then go in front of her after Maleficent saying "why would I have trouble" and mentions small talk and explaining it later to her, also fixing her scarf too then speaking for her once he's done and goes back next to her. There's a lot more, but what really got me in the new one is Ingrith's cat shown following her but also at the dinner scene. When the cat comes onto the table and jumps to Diaval, Maleficent does use magic to freeze the cat as Diaval does jump and tilt towards Maleficent as well. I also saw someone mention somewhere in the comments here of Maleficent telling Diaval she missed him. As that is true, they as well both smile at each other throughout that dialogue. Lastly, at the wedding scene he does touch Maleficent's arm softly and tells her to let Aurora go. He also wipes away tears with his thumb when he looks at the two walk down the aisle. He also does it after Maleficent stands next to him. He does also look at Maleficent put her fingers to an eye to stop tears and does this mini laugh smile a bit. As well as Diaval looking at her again during the wedding scene, he mentions her smiling and they both exchange smiles, Maleficent showing a smile with teeth + fangs instead of the one she was doing. One more thing, there is a video of Angelina and Sam in their costumes of BTS of making Maleficent 2 where they both stop looking at each other after Angie does this gesture with her hand and does a face with hit. They look back at each other and Angie puts her hand up and stops looking at him again and they both smile (can find the video).

Also, another point is just the way he looks at her in the scene before they go through the iron vines. Maleficent and Diaval lock eyes and neither look away until like 5 seconds later. There were in perfect sink with each other and were enjoying each other's company.
Another way I thought of was in the second movie when they are at the table and Maleficent saves Diaval from the cat. She saves him. Also she transforms him to get out of the castle and he jumps up, like he knows she will transform him because he trusts that she won’t leave him.
If they make a sequel and then pair her up with Borra instead of Diaval I'm gonna be so pissed !

Actually, your very first piece of proof is rather solid if ravens in the moors act like ravens in real life. Birds often get romantically and sexually frustrated if a human pets their back because it's a way that mated birds groom and bond. It's why professional bird caretakers most often pet the head if they pet their birds at all

I actually never even thought about it, but you make some very good points. Thank you Lucy for giving us a really nice video and a lot to think about! When I first saw this movie with the child going over the cliff I knew she wouldn't let her die because there is something about Maleficent. The only humans she seems to truly hate are the king who cut her wings off and of course more royalty in the second movie. She is far from a monster just broken and needs someone. I loved how Diaval even let Aurora pet him when she was small. Wanna Know One Thing: You notice how the further the first movie is and the second he seems to stay in human form a lot so I have a feeling she is starting to feel for Diaval.

i love the video although reason number three is not valid because about a year ago i was granted special access to the original script for the movie and i will say that it was in the script before they decided to rewrite the script for the movie due to the disliking of certain parts from the directors point if view. so sadly number 3 is inaccurate. how did i get access to it well my uncle is the CEO of one of the company's that helped make the movie.
