  • I picked up this compact crank radio / flash light combo from Midland Radio. Model number ER210. Battery can be charged via USB, Solar, or hand crank. It has Weather radio with alert settings, AM/FM radio, and a 150 lumen cree LED Flash Light with low, high and SOS settings. You can use it to charge other devices via USB cable and it has a headphone jack. A lot built in to this small little package. The ability to charge other devices is very nice! Let me know what you think in the comments down below. Stay classy and play nice.

    Thanks for the review. Southeastern NC is on the tail end of some possible rough weather in the late afternoon today, so I purchased one of these at Walmart. Instruction could have been better, so I searched around for some guidance. Luckily I found your video, and you made it easy. Thank you.

    I have a few of these EXACT radios. They are GGGGRRRRREEEEEAAATTT. I live IN TORNADO 🌪️ ALLEY, and they have come in handy many times. Recently, we had a winter storm that caused some damage, incl. a 4 hour power loss(Transformer, one of the BIG ones, exploded(💥)). I ❤ this product so much that I have a few placed in Faraday Shielding, due to what I have seen on the news recently. Nice job here. ❤❤❤❤❤ I used one of my units to catch the Kansas City Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins game during the mentioned power failure.❤❤❤❤❤

      @@TheRealCobraBurnout if you want more bass you'd have to replace the driver with a more expensive one, if you can find a 1" midrange woofer. It'd take WAY more power though and it'd have too much excursion, so they didn't put a crazy driver in it.

  • @kneehighbyjuly4433

    Love this product so much! My only issue is, other dynamo options are better on other radios. You need to sit there and crank the midland ER for about 10-30 mins to get the 1 bar on the battery. You NEED that one bar for the radio to work. The others, I could crank it for 30 secons-2 mins on others, and get 2-30 mins on them. I just wish Midland's product would work sort of like those other products. I will say this, the battery and how long is lasts, isn't a terrible compromise.

      Oh! I had no clue. I only cranked it for 5 max, and it was dead as a brick. We have the hurricane about to Strick & looking at my emergency kit, I noticed the usb charger, and plugged it in.. It works. So I thought I'd google the crank issue B4 the power went out. Thank you both. (Should've read the manual.xD)

    hi RCB and everyone, I have a quick question re: any kind style of these radio's. I have always purchased radio's with an actual dial which I can manually move simply because I think that a digital readout is one more thing to go wrong on a radio....so my question. If the digital readout goes out...will the radio still change channels even if I can't see the channel it's on? to say that another way. If I can't read the digital readout, due to a radio malfunction, will the radio still pick up radio stations and can I change stations? make sense?

  • @heatherharger9709

    You can use the USB unit to recharge this thing, BUT the charging time for it is 1.5 to 2 HOURS MAXIMUM or you may blow up the power cell, even set it on fire. I had confronted a idiot who done that after I had smelled a burning smell comming from the radio. Idiot left it plugged in the charger for hours at a time. The two onboard power sources on it are intended for use if the power had failed and is expected to be out for SEVERAL DAYS to SEVERAL WEEKS, like what happens after a tornado (🌪️), hurricane(🌀), earthquake, huge forest fire, like CA gets nearly all of the time, other disasters. Given WHAT I have seen on the news recently, especially about Putin of Russia has been trying to do, it really is a VERY EXCELLENT IDEA to put this kind of radio, several of these radios into FARADAY CAGES, so that you, the reader, will have radio,light for quite awhile. I am referring to the Solar and Hand crank micro power generators on these that will serve you.

    the battery?

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pull the read plastic strip out from the battery compartment. Then grab the usb cable. The usb micro side (small head) goes into the radio. The regular size USB side of the cable has to plug into a USB adapter that plugs into your wall. Midland cheap skated everyone and didn't include the adapter. Some power strips come with a USB outlet as well.

    One of the better features is they could have added would be a water resistant carry case with lanyard connection point. And a zippered storage compartment for your earbuds, power cables, and AC / DC adapters. Making one side of the case in clear plastic you could have in charge on the go as you hike. Have a few parts of the case setup so the solar cells always pointed up. Get to your campsite for the night and it's power is already topped off.

      No. Unless you have the most basic dollar store phone, it won't. It only has a 2Ah battery which is significantly less than the standard 4Ah of most Android phones and 3Ah of most iPhones. It's definitely enough for emergency calls though.

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its going to receive alerts that are in range. When you push a button it goes to the channel you have it set to. From the manual: Using the Weather Radio Continued...
      Weather Alert Function
      • To enable the NOAA Weather Alert function, press the
      WX ALERT button.
      • When enabled, the “WX” icon on the LCD screen will flash.
      • When a weather alert is received, the ER210 will sound an
      audible siren and the flashlight will flash on and off along with
      the LCD backlight for 1 minute.
      • Pressing any button during an alert on the ER210 will stop the
      siren and flashlight and the radio will switch to your selected
      weather channel.

    • @heatherharger9709
      @heatherharger9709 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The outside alerts will allow you to track the storm( or storms) generating the tornadoes, so you can see on a paper map( in case of power loss) if it is coming YOUR way. IF you have one coming your way at 40 mph, you live 80 miles from the current location of the storm. Simple: 40 into 80 will give you 2, as in two hours before it reaches you, time you can use to get ready to get into a safety designated area, etc.

  • @Chemical99
    @Chemical99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Bought mine last summer, and was disappointed because it DOES NOT charge my android more than many 15% ON A FULL CHARGE before the radio battery dies, also the solar panel can be in the sun for hours and it still won't fully charge, cranking it is also a huge disappointment, I can crack it for about a five min period and it will go up two bars, but once you plug in a phone, it will almost immediately kill the radio battery.
    And last but not least if you happen to accidentally drop it, the time will reset back to 8pm.
    THE FLASH LIGHT IS THE ONLY GOOD FEATURE ABOUT THIS THAT AND MAYBE THE RADIO FREQUENCY RECEPTION,
    I'M STARTING TO THINK, perhaps I bought a faulty radio. Imma try to again to FULLY CHARGE THE RADIO and see how much more percentage it helps gain my reg android phone
