No idea what any of the formations truly mean, not having plaid FoW yet. But I reeeeally like the Clash of Steel starter box. Looks like a lot of awesome models in there
Great video. Some awesome looking models in the Berlin box. As a complete noob, I’m pretty lost with all the formations. I would have no idea where to start
Okay, as a newbie, the starter force is a pretty good bet. That box plus an IS-2 box will get you up to about 100 points, including a mix of artillery, armour, and infantry. As we say in the video, a strong main formation will stop you getting strategically sniped off the board.
We've got videos coming up on list writing as part of the Field Manual series. There's a play list for that OK our channel and the next video drops Monday!
@@thedicegodswg thanks! Looking forward to it. I am in the habit of painting my models before playing with them, so that has gotten me in trouble when I first start a game. I don’t want to go tot he trouble to paint a lot of stuff, only to find it’s terrible on the table!
@@mattcappelli5822 true, I know what you mean. But that new starter is a solid core, as I say, and the IS-2 is a bit of a beast! Good luck and welcome aboard.
I'm excited to get this one! A good excuse to paint up all the Soviet infantry I've been collecting.
Ah, perfect. The infantry formations are really interesting, I have to say!
Sherman’s and American tanks look really cool D day onwards can become easy to get a big army together
That artillery and mortar has my poor remnant 21st Panzer quaking in their boots!
i first looked at this channel for an advertisement, but after looking at their older content, i recommend anyone to give the video's a try, they really put in the effort, also #First
@@thedicegodswg by the way, should eastern front players expect anything new? A tiny sneak peek could not hurt
@@thatorangeguy3646 alas, we're under embargo until this video launches... all will be revealed in just over 24 hours...
Don't really get why they picked M4s for their starter force. I mean if you want to jump in now for a Soviet force you end up with a load of US tanks.
I know what you mean. Even with my Brits I avoid the M4. But you can still pull in T-34 and IS-2 formations. Those minis did appear in the last two soviet starter forces too.
The Russians made heavy use of the m4s, and of a type that were not common for US forces. It doesn't seem "russian", but it is historical.
Interesting that the 203mm is limited to two-gun batteries. It's undeniably punchy, but it'll always be re-rolling successful hits in bombardment, and if it takes a single casualty it's on Last Stand checks. Looking back at the v3 Berlin book, you used to be able to take them in units of 4 or even 8 (!) although the latter would cost approx 1/3 of an average sized army's points. Is the 2-gun unit just the in-formation version? Does it come back in the Formation Support options?
It does appear in support in 2 and 4 gun versions. So, you can avoid those re-rolls!
@@thedicegodswg even with that its going to be a very interesting unit compared to v3, your really going to want to be specific with your targets.
powerful, but a glass cannon if caught unguarded, looks quite fun
4 plus to hit Russians with Pzfausts Limited 2, they better be expensive.
heh, compensator 5000, yea... its not wrong lol, the brutal in city fight is going to be Even more nasty spreading hits to each team in the room it hits! Great video! Love the review!
Thanks man, appreciate the support. 💪
is that how the new cityfight rules work? its been a while but that sounds like hell for the poor infantry
