- Making Art Books - Part 1 / This is the first of six daily Instagram Lives I'm taping on making art books that I use to keep ideas for later inspiration. In this first video I go over the easy-to-find materials I use and then I begin to make collages. In the fourth and fifth videos I'll show how to make the collected collages into books.

A few days late, I am now also working through this video series. I find it quite difficult to get the thin painted paper to lie flat again. Is there a trick, apart from moistening the paper again and then weighting it down in newspaper?
Won’t the oil pastels smear when the book is closed? I would love to use them because of the way they resist water color, but the smear factor concerns me.
The oil pastels will smear a little if you don’t wait for them to dry. Sometimes I get impatient. 😂
is deli paper there same thing as parchment paper?
No, I don’t think so. Deli paper is thin and translucent like parchment paper but deli paper absorbs the paint where I don’t think the parchment paper will. But try it out and see if you like it.
