As a guy who has been fitting boots for a long time appreciate your well articulated explanation. I like how you emphasize the term cuff alignment and explain the difference between that and sole canting. Glad to watch your videos as we in the states get into our ski season. In my humble opinion you have one of the best ski equipment channels on TH-cam. ⛷⛷⛷👍👍🙏
No idea of the actual name. :) Gotta be a cuff adjustment tool thingy. They used to come in the Atomic boot boxes, but havent seen any in a while. Try and bribe your local shops with beer and they might have some out back.
It’s a metric hex Allen key. Extremely common tool. The size probably depends on boot brand. Mine is 3 mm (Lange). They are commonly sold in sets - 1mm to 8mm or whatever. Very inexpensive. On the vid he’s using a specialized one with some handle. No need for that.
Hi Craig, thanks for the great videos. What would you recommend someone who has genetically really wide cuff so needs to widen cuff part of his boots? Do you have a video for such a case?
Hi Emre, Are you referring to having a big calf or broad lower leg? It would be very dependant on the size of your feet, but you would either into a higher volume boot with a wide cuff, or look to run a lower profile liner to allow for the space. Some modifications are possible and I have stretched cuffs for some big legs before, but you would need to get creative. If it is calf, there are boots with lower cuff heights and even sometimes good adjustments for this.
@@PatriotFootbeds well broad lower leg defines better. Thick legs and ankles with relatively small feet :) so feet fit well but since the leg is so broad cannot close-up the rivets on the upper part of a regular boot. I found your video of putting the hard shell in an oven then wear it and thought it might help to stretch it out.
Does heat molding Salomon s pros do some level of cuff alignment? I definitely need to do some cuff alignment on mine but as you stated they’re a fixed pivot. Any options here?
Unfortunately it wont alter to any significant level. Are you being thrown out of balance or feel like you are fighting against your boots>? You may need to approach this in another way.
im lost... you adjust your soul or or ski or hinges or what? i whink he needs to do a better job of explaing where to change and why he just lift the boot then put it down over and over and saying that hes using his own nomenclature.
Thanks for making this one. My new boots have a cuff aligner and I didn't understand how it worked

What is the name of the 2 prong tool you used to adjust the boots? I've been searching high and low for one of these.
