Absolutely wonderful technique developed over a long time I’m sure. It’s not too loose though which is great for me to learn from I hope. I Don’t do too well with loose washes on a bird or flower. Thank you for the voiceover which is clear and calm and full of important information. 🦉🐝
I keep reminding myself that one of these days beautiful paintings such as the one you just created will spring forth from my brushes;one day. Thank you for sharing and as I mentioned earlier your painting is very beautiful.
Your videos are all extremely helpfull to me, thank you so much for all the effort you put in these tutoriais, you've no idea how much they're helping me :) Have a wonderfull day
Very beautiful! I have to learn patience and do color variations gradually. You said you're using Cotman watercolors. Since these are student grade and less intensive in color, isn't it actually harder to get great color and easy blending with these and thereby hard to learn with? I know when you're just learning, you don't want to spend so much on supplies, but isn't this counter productive?
Excellent tutorial! Although your large brush holds a nice point, I don't think it's a great idea to use this for the finer details, especially for beginners like myself. The Winsor & Newton Cotman set is a good set to start out with (imo), but I've been buying tubes of W & N professional tubes of paint to use along with my pan set. Your tutorials help a great deal and for that I thank you!
Tried it for the first time. Not bad. Trying to get the 3D effect better. Had a problem with the beak colors blending into the red feathers. Forgot to stop and let the paint dry.
when applying the background, how do you get it not to bleed into the main drawing? I always have trouble with that and I don't even use that much water. is it with my watercolor paper or watercolor quality perhaps?
+Mikko Cristobal If you notice, when he starts applying the background color he comes up close to the bird but leaves a very fine space. Although he doesn't say so, I suspect that the bird is already dry when he begins the background as well.
+Atakan Basol That statement confused me as well. I have both types of paint and when I am using cake I increase the color intensity by mixing with less water. I have never seen a difference, once dry, between tube vs cake. The only real difference is the ease of mixing water with tube paint.

Some of us don't know the fancy names for you colors - so how about specking english for those of us that like painting but don't understand your upity talk
Thanks Roy. Not trying to be upity or snooty. These are just the names of the actual colors used. Artist quality paints are named according to the pigments used.

I dont really get the cake vs tube thing... Isnt cakes are dried tube paint. I have used them both and both is exactly the same to me ...
