Jon will probably fight one more time after beating Stipe, and then officially retire.
However honestly I don't think It really matters at this point, call him what you will (cheater, wife beater, steroid user etc.) but what he's accomplished In terms of his sheer resume Is nothing short of complete greatness, god given abilities (as stated by Khabibs father), high genius fight IQ/Knowledge as acknowledged by his rivals like DC Cormier, and his skill and technique Is always appreciated and respected by legends like Demetrius Johnson, GSP, and even dominant undefeated fighters like Khabib (Khabib ranks Jon #1 on his all time top 15 greatest MMA fighters, tied with Fedor).
Jon has nothing more to prove to anybody In all honesty (even his haters Included). Win or lose, he'll forever be the Michael Jordan of MMA In my mind now and forever.
I've been a fan of Jon for over a decade ever since I was a kid when I first watched him become the first fighter In the UFC to stop and finish Rampage Jackson In the Octagon at UFC 135.
Truly blessed to witness his greatness as a heel from 2011-2023 and onward. He's the Anti-villain that re-wrote history, and has practically 3 primes In his career.

Tbf it's crazy how much greatness and accomplishments he has in this sport. Cause when I look at Izzy - brilliant score, brilliant competition, KOs, performances but even that is one clear level below what Jon did in MMA. 28-0 and 1NC. Beat Cormier, Gus, Rampage, Rashad, Lyoto, Vitor, Bonnar, Bader, Matyushenko, Glover, Gane in 2 minutes, Shogun, Chael in 3 minutes... And the vast array of techniques used. He gained all that weight for Francis only to not even need it! Waste of 3 years of his prime. He could have taken down Gane at 225lbs which he was at LHW. And he already said he was coming down to fight Stipe so again, that weight gain and taking 3 years off was all for nothing.
And now he comes back and already wants to retire! Smh.
I am assuming that is just his way of leaning on Dana to give him a lot more money to stay. He was not happy with his money for years and also why he sat out for so long.
I am guessing Dana will give him more money now that he has the HW belt.

    • @paolothorpe1461

@@MilkyWayGalaxyy after rewatching the whole jon jones experiment from him talking about going up to HW in 2013 and him talking about it until 2020(right before covid which seems like an eternity ago, damn jon rlly was out for hella long)he said that he was already 240 and his fight at HW he was only 248 so he only gained five-eight pounds. I think either the ufc or jon or even the fans hyped it up for something that it wasnt, jon was a big LHW and he did get big, up to 277 but obviously thats the past the weight limit and jon that slow is no good to him. And he kinda did put the weight on unnecessarily, because even with the weight, he still hasnt acclimated to the weight to move like a real HW and its not like hes ever gonna outweigh and out power/out punch francis, so idk why he put all that weight on for. Maybe that was the excuse. Maybe he didnt put too much weight on or he did but only to make it seem like he needed time to bulk up and he was either scared or wanted more money. And he looked terrible on the feet anyways, so jon at 248 is already bad, imagine that but at 277, 30 pounds slower and even less cardio. Not good

Its interesting to hear him say he will fight sergei for the right price. would the ufc pay up? I would assume the only reason they would pay that much is if it is marketed as jon jones retirement fight. That marketing along with the danger of pavlovich to spoil it would be a huge draw.

I would love for Jones to fight more. He did things in the octagon that I never saw before. He perfectly mixed striking and grappling kind of like GSP, but Jones was better at both than GSP. To my knowledge GSP never took down an Olympic wrestler twice in one fight.
But Jones is right. He is old in fight years. As good as he looked against Gane, the truth is that he isn't the fighter he used to be. Does Jones really have anything to prove?
It is foolish talk to say Jones is dodging anyone. Look at his resume. He fought the best of the best. Most of the legends he defeated where on the wrong side of their prime, but he still made most those fights look way too easy.

    • @EmeralArcher

I think Gane has high chance as well
Jon would probably smash him on the ground after some distance play.
But Sergei never seemed to be an offencive grappler he only boxes.
And Cirly has great footwork, very fast even slightly faster than Sergei who had big success couse of his punching speed against lower guys like Tai and Dereck and Blades.
So it would be intresting going up against a faster more well rounded striker.
Actually i think Gane beats him.
As far as i know Sergei is a big long reach boxer with fast hands that's it
      No kicking or wrestling.
Gane can move around chop down the legs breaking him down a little clinchkng up if he gets pressured to much, landing knees elbows.
      Back to the kicking again.
Once Sergei slows down Gane can put him away
Like sure Sergei can win it too, but like i don't think Gane will be stupid enough to just brawl with Sergei in round 1 like how Tai did.
Cirly is smarter than that we saw him using his speed and kicks to beat up bigger harder punchers many times.
I don't see why Sergei would be any diferent.
He is a little bit younger amd russian but that's about it
People just like to hype him up couse you guys know UFC probably won't make him vs Jones.
So Jones will never get the chance to dominate him on the ground so you can say later on that "Jon was scared of Sergei he knew he would lose and didn't wanted that fight" 😂

If one wants to be considered the best, then you need to fight the best such as Pavlovich and as anyone know, the reason why people don’t know about Pavlovich is because he’s a Russian in American organization, which has protected you from the start, but not him. For example, Khabib, who hasn’t even lost a round in his professional career was not considered the best pound to pound of all time until may be recently if even then. Look at Stipe who took fight with anyone even when he was 30 pounds underweight and you just pick and choose to fight which is fine but don’t call yourself the best if you don’t fight the best. Fight Pavlovich and let’s see . Facts.
