The translation is not perfect. The interviewer doesn't say they "need to leave school," but actually that they "need to finish high school." They have about four hours of school every day. Obviously it's sufficient, since Mustafina got into one of Russia's best universities over the summer. As for not living with their families, it's part of a centralized training system and only the older athletes live at Round Lake full time. Most of the juniors are only there periodically.
@Malixie There's a simple reason for that: most gymnasts need way more than just 5 hours in the gym. Shawn Johnson was an exception, she was a prodigy. Most girls couldn't have achieved her level without having to train long and painful hours. Take for example Alexandra Raisman, without training non-stop I don't think she would've made it to the Olympics. She's not particularly talented, she's just hard working and very ambitious.
I don't understand why these girls need to be separated from their families and why they don't have enough time for school some days. Is this just the old Russian system at work? We have seen plenty of gymnasts, Shawn Johnson for example, who live at home, go to school, and train for no more than 5 hours a day. And Shawn won the same about of medals as Aliya. Plenty of other gymnasts have shown that they don't need endless training so why do all the Russian girls need it?
vika está en el video despues del parte con aliya y masha (pero cuando lo miré por primera vez estaba confundido por que dice que hay aliya y vika pero en realidad tiene aliya y masha)
It is so fun hearing Vika speak for the first time. She is so cute.
It's amazing to finally hear Vika speak

Respectfully.. Shawn n aliya are not the same.
@@dancer2189yeah Shawn was a prodigy, most gymnasts need to train a lot more
@@Bxyxox Aliya was better.
@@dancer2189 lol they were both good. Shawn was prodigy, she just didn’t need to train as much as others cause it came more naturally for me.
