That was a complex project for someone humbly saying they are "not very good at this". 👍 And I think your paint result looks more interesting and more attractive than any solid blue colour would have looked. Nice relaxing video. 👍🎵🙂
Definitely not the easiest beginner project, but it also wasn’t my first time soldering, so it worked out great! Still love the janky paint job on it. Definitely doesn’t look mass produced. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!
I bought your album on Bandcamp....love the atmosphere. My diy soldering has been mixed success, but I enjoy it. I nearly got one of those steel drums...like the tones...and I have a kalimba like yours which i sometimes run into my eurorack case via a Doepfer A-119 Ext input/Envelope Follower.
It’s just so therapeutic listening to both you and your music. Love the pedal. I’ve been wanting to build one for a while and this has given me the motivation to do it!
Aww, thanks Reece! I find pedal and synth builds very therapeutic too. You get to make something cool and the sense of achievement is really nice when it works out and makes cool sounds! Go for it, I’m sure you’re going to love it! Do you know already what you’re going to build?
@@LillySchwartz hey Lilly, yeah I enjoy doing circuit board stuff sometimes. Quite therapeutic when you have some music to listen to. Unfortunately I’m in the UK and the postage for the Musikding kits does add quite a bit on top. But I would still like to have a go. I really want a delay pedal and maybe a fuzz or overdrive pedal. Nothing too fancy!
I’m in Spain myself, so shipping also adds to the price. I tend to just buy a few kits at once and then the shipping per project isn’t too bad! I’d suggest to start with a fuzz, they are a lot easier to build, super simple circuits! On the Boss fuzz I built the wiring took the longest, because the board only had a few components! If you’ve soldered before then this delay isn’t too difficult either and I love the sound. From there I went with a Phaser next! Definitely more complex and tighter component layout. Very spaced out in comparison to some of the synth module builds I’ve done! Last night I actually finished a percussion module for my Eurorack, I love these music DIY projects!
“We all want a million of them. ..”. ROFL!! That happened to me about Serge modules.. .i couldn’t stop. Love your sense of humor. Here’s a tip: once your pedal collection weighs more than your guitar and amp together you know you have a problem.. .. . If you haven’t run a electric Kalimba through your pedals by now you should try it.
Surprisingly I don’t even have an amp anymore, I just run the guitar into the computer, so much more options. If I count my computer as my amp I still have quite a few pedals I can build because that thing is heavy 😂
Oh there will definitely be more! I already have another enclosure sprayed so I bet I get to that one soon! And yay for relaxing ambient tunes! That track is already a few months old.
@@LillySchwartz I just got my first kit from Musikding as well, went with the overdrive copy of the dod 250. i'll start tonight, sadly i have no livestream to check if i run into trouble.
Maybe check that livestream anyway (link should be in the description). Most of the proper Musikding kits should be fairly similar, just different components on the board. Although some don’t seem to have the extra board for the foot switch. My next one is a fuzz which is super simple, but no footswitch board, so most effort will probably go into figuring that one out!
There will definitely be more coming, I already have the kits and everything! I have been meaning to build them already, but my computer broke and I don’t have the hardware to record without it 🤦♀️ Just finished building a new computer finally, so I can get back to writing and testing out new effects! 😀
You say that your color result is not perfect. I think THAT is exactly what makes DIY so interesting. Everyone will be asking "Oh what pedal is that?" and you can proudly say "I built it myself!". For example I have an ADSR (Envelope Generator) built into a potato salad bucket, or a double oscillator that is in the lid of a peanut butter jar. That has charm and style! And nobody else has that. Everyone can be perfect! Imperfect is an art! One more small thing, if you (which will definitely happen if you are infected with the DIY virus :)) send your self-made synthesizer modules into the guitar pedals, you sometimes have to switch a small circuit called "stomp box adapter" in between, because otherwise it could happen that the pedals break. It is a very small, inexpensive and simple circuit. But which can save a lot of trouble! I'm looking forward to the next videos. Stay healthy and best regards from Germany Cheers THOGRE EDIT: I bet on a spring reverb you would have fun too. Build one, I would be happy if I saw a video of it!
Thank you Thogre! I agree, this pedal is now definitely very me and I like that it’s special in that way! Thank you for recommending the stomp box adapter to me, I’ll look into this a bit more. The synths I seem to play alright with my pedals, so it’s not really a concern right now, but I’ll keep it in mind if I get a new synth at some point. Also, a spring reverb would be cool! Just need to find the right kit! 😀
Aww, thank you! I’m glad you found the video encouraging! And don’t worry about building that fuzz they are super simple! Honestly I just built one a couple weeks ago and the wiring took the longest because it had so few components. Super easy! And I’m glad you enjoyed my music too! That’s always nice to hear 😀
Wow! That looks pretty daunting when you see all those solder points.I'm going to need to improve my soldering skills, before I tackle one of these builds...great video, and the music is beautiful!
Yeah, it's indeed a lot of solder joints, but I actually find it much harder to solder pots than through hole components! PCBs have even surfaces and after a few components it becomes just the same thing over and over. Every time I end up soldering pots I'm swearing, but PCBs aren't too bad. It definitely helps to start with something a little less complex though: Fuzz pedals tend to have really simple circuits, so they are a good place to start! And I'm glad you enjoyed my music too! Thank you for watching! ✨
You might be surprised how easy powder-coating is (rather than painting the enclosures). I already had an air compressor, so I had to pick up a powder-coating gun, the powder, and a cheap toaster oven. I spent maybe $200 U.S. total? The results are so professional looking. (And no runs or drips, ha ha.)
I want to look into that, definitely! Been meaning to get a compressor for airbrush stuff, so that might be an option too. Although I have to say that my wonky paint job has character 😂
Nice! I have a couple more delay pedals too, a cheap one that is also a looper, but does quite nicely in the delay functions too and I also have a mini analog delay! Stacking them up is so much fun 😀 Just listening to one of your videos now, the ambient blues session with the drone footage! Super relaxing! ✨
GREAT VIDEOS, AS A MUSICIAN MULTI INSTRUMENT PERFORMER SINCE CHILD, GERMAN MUSIC WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE 48100HZ SOUND CARD IN MY COUNTRY WE WERE NOT ABLE TO HAVE THAT, FORTUNATELY I LEARNED TO USE THE MP3 WAV AND OTHER FORMATS, THE LOSSY RATIO N AUDIO WAS UP TO 256KBPS RATES! USING THE OLD WINDOWS98 AND CHEAP BANDWIDTH AND A SLOW DOWNLOAD PROGRESS BAR . TODAY WE HAVE INTERNET, I WAS A 10 YEARS OLD KID., YOU ARE AN AMAZING WOMAN.
Thank you Drew, I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! This doesn’t need smarts though, you can learn all of this stuff on TH-cam! 😀 One of the reasons why I like TH-cam as a platform is that there are resources to learn just about anything, from guitar modding to soldering to 3D animation to building stuff you never even heard of before! Learning new stuff has never been easier.
@@LillySchwartz you're welcome. yep, that is why i never try to make an even finish on anything. hell, it comes out more artsy-fartsy when it is random, anyway...
Oh, it really isn’t that hard! Resistors first, then the chip sockets, then the capacitors, wiring last. With lead free solder use a soldering station that can get properly hot. If you’ve never soldered before I’d recommend to do a fuzz pedal first. They have far fewer parts! Easy wins!
Thank you Stefan, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I always recommend to start with a fuzz for beginners, they tend to be really simple circuits! I just built one the other day and it was super easy. Do you know already what you want to build? 😀
I built one called The Boss from Musikding. The board is fairly small, so that’s good soldering practice! 0.6 solder wire helps! Wiring the foot switch took much longer than soldering the board, which tells you how simple the circuit is! They also have a fuzz called The Easy, the name tells you everything you need to know 😂
It’s a good place to start! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the journey! ✨ and then you can move on to more complicated builds! I’m building a Phaser today, which is quite a bit more complicated!
I enjoyed this. I want to build a pedal but I plan to start with something slightly easier. You are very funny. As well as informative. I especially enjoyed your attempt to destroy the board. Continue to have fun.
Haha, I’m glad you enjoyed the video, Malcolm! I definitely had fun with this one! You could try to start with a fuzz, they tend to be a bit easier! I want to build one of those as well!
@@LillySchwartz too early to start building. I have just ordered my first ever breadboard kit. I want to see how I go making simple circuits first. I am watching lots of videos to see what interests me. My musical sound is very clean so I don’t think I will go for fuzz. Thanks for replying and enjoy your creative projects.
You’re welcome! And yes, it is definitely a wise move to breadboard some circuits first and work your way up from there. That’s how I did it as well. Fuzz pedals tend to have the simplest circuits, but if the sound isn’t for you then there is no point really except to use it as practice. I’m a strong believer in building things that are actually useful!
@@LillySchwartz you're right, it sounds fantastic! I'm very häppy that i bought mine a few years back, because they are no longer build and hard to get already :)
I‘m also really glad that I got it when I did. It‘s one of those pedals that would be really hard to replace. I just love the way it sounds on pretty much everything!
Oh nice! I would love to build my own electric too, but I have no space for the woodworking parts sadly. Maybe one day! Until then I may just have to stick to modding guitars and building FX 😀 that’s already lots of fun!
@@LillySchwartz The separate neck and body are mass produced in good quality, esp stratocaster pattern, so no need to build a workshop! Enjoy your projects :)
I ran into problems trying to find necks that didn’t need additional shaping on the headstock. And I don’t have the space to spray paint a body either! If I ever find a shortscale neck that needs no shaping I might try a stained body though! Although I have to say that with offset guitars it’s probably more economical to buy a cheapo donor and strip it than to buy just the body. Not quite as much demand for those.
You've inspired me to build my own delay pedal! lol I don't even own a soldering gun, but with the tutorial video you used I feel more confident to try. Also nice ambient track, I loved the video for it, with the lights and flares floating out of the cassette player, very nice 12:49
Go for it! If you haven’t soldered before I’d start with a Fuzz pedal first! They just have a few components, so it’s easy wins. I built the Bosstone fuzz from Musikding and that was a very easy one. I’m glad you like the music too. It’s on my album Endless Nights too I believe. You can listen to the rest here: polarcoaster.bandcamp.com
@@LillySchwartz I should start with the Fuzz pedal you're right, I just think delay pedal would be way cooler. I actually enjoyed your album very much as well, and bought it saturday night, you're right the track in this video is actually song #2 off your Endless Nights album. I put the album on saturday night and passed out halfway through, it had very relaxing sounds.
Delay is definitely more useful if you don’t always use a guitar. I plug all sorts of stuff in the Fuzz too though. Synth through a fuzz tends to sound quite cool 😀 just for the practice it will be useful so that then your Delay works without having to struggle too much. I’m glad you enjoyed the album and thanks for getting it on bandcamp! Coincidentally my bandcamp earnings usually go straight back into pedal kits 😅 I also find that album very relaxing. I wrote all the tracks while I couldn’t sleep so I was trying to cure my insomnia with it 😀 limited success on the sleep front, but I like how the album turned out!
@@LillySchwartz You're welcome, glad the album funds go towards more fun pedal kits :) I also make music for fun, and I have a list of pedals I'm going to get next... the Fuzz and Delay Kit, and 2 months ago I saw a really nice pedal I want for ambient music, it's called Strymon Cloudburst Flexible Reverb, it makes really nice dreamy sounds.. then looking at this pedal I saw they make a delay pedal that looks crazy, it has lots of features called Timeline Multidimension Delay Effects Unit.. you could probably make these pedals :)
Oh, Strymon stuff is always enticing! It’s actually quite interesting, those kinds of pedals tend to be digital and very hard to recreate. Certainly possible with DSP coding and I could potentially build a pedal for that kind of purpose, but it would be mostly programming rather than electronics parts and a whole lot of guesswork to figure out what the pedal is actually doing. I want to go into that direction at some point as well, mainly because Strymon stuff tends to be far too expensive for me. I mean, I could buy quite a few pedal kits for the kind of money the Cloudburst goes for! And I haven’t paid that much for building a single Eurorack module either. If you go Behringer you can get entire synths for that money. I totally get why you have it on your list and why people buy it though if they have the money. Lush 🥰
Hey Lilly, I on the way to build lots of things like pedals theremin and I don't know else, but I can't wait ;). Also, I want to put an IN and OUT in my kalimba to go to my pedals and to my daw. I want also to insert a piezo inside maybe. Can you tell me how you did with your kalimba ? Do you have some pictures you can send me ?
My Kalimba actually had a piezo pickup already integrated! Works really well. I did however put a pickup in my steel tongue drum and they are really cheap and easy to install. Just look on Amazon for “contact mic piezo” and you’ll find the ones I mean. Usually they come with adhesive etc. you just stick it to the kalimba and it’ll work. My recommendation: Get a graphic equaliser pedal too. That way you can filter out any harshness that might cause annoying feedback with time based effects like delay and reverb!
Aww, thank you Ted! I’m really glad you enjoy my music too! Believe me, building these is really not that hard! You just need a soldering iron and a bit of patience! The rest is just putting the components where the PCB board tells you to put them! Just give it a go! Looks way more intimidating than it is 😀 Rock on! 🤘
Totally, chorus and tremolo is still fine, but if you want the style of digital delay or reverb pedals popular for ambient it just gets stupidly expensive. Sadly those are also pretty much impossible to DIY 😬
Oh, that’s my aim too! I want to build the mutable instruments ones and that’s all surface mount components 😱 last time I tried to do SMD soldering it was a total mess and utter failure 😂 but I’ll get there eventually! What are you planning to build?
I use a copper pot and have a bunch more tips for the iron. I think I’m slowly giving up on the idea of using a soldering iron for SMD though. I’ve been watching some videos on reflowing with a soldering heat gun instead of using an iron and that seemed much more promising!
Thanks Gustavo! Yes, tapeloops are cool, I sometimes play around with them! In this video for example: th-cam.com/video/_zwrknWDBe0/w-d-xo.html I haven’t yet had the chance to play with tape delay, but I’m pretty sure I will before long!
You are an amazingly talented lady Lilly. I have been toying with the idea of building some pedals. I realize that building them is not much cheaper than buying them but the satisfaction of building your own stuff is .....wel......satisfying. Your background in robotics is obviously a help with this type of venture. My backgroung in .....jack of all trades, master of none.....is of great help with sort of thing too. do you buy the pedals as kits or do you source everthing individualy??
The good thing about building the pedals yourself is that you start learning and then eventually you might be able to make a circuit with the exact sound you have in mind. I’m still learning about audio circuits, so I tend to buy kits like the one in this video. I’m slowly starting to collect a bunch of parts to have in stock in case I want to put together some audio circuits. Once you have those lying around building pedals becomes a lot cheaper, because you can buy parts in bulk from China. So, my suggestion would be to start with a few kits and work towards understanding the schematics of these circuits, so that you can get the parts and understand what they do!
@@LillySchwartz Sounds like a good idea, I was looking at a short history of the mustang guitars and they made a bass with a short scale length and I thought of you straight away with your ambient music a bass guitar with a short neck would be an interesting addition to your musical collection. Thank you for the advice Lilly Cheers from Down Under mate.
You’re welcome! Funnily I have an even shorter scale bass: it’s a bass ukulele. Doesn’t get much shorter scale than that. It actually has rubber strings and sounds very much like one of those upright standing basses they use in Jazz. I haven’t yet managed to make it sit well within my other music, but it’s been on my mind lately! I’m hoping I get my hands on a Mustang bass too one day!
Kalimba was literally the first thing I put through it 😂 fantastic. The EQ helps to cut out some of the harsher frequencies, always a decent boost for the kalimba. I have no idea what the delay time is on this thing, but there is a PT2399 in there I think, so 340 ms according to something I just found on the interwebs?
Thank you! 😁 I haven’t used my voice yet, but I think I might at some point. I used to be very self-conscious about my voice and I’m not much of a singer, but hearing my voice recorded for TH-cam has mellowed my aversion somewhat.
Thank you, I’m glad you like the music! I also like listening to stuff like that when I’m reading! I uploaded just the music part to my music channel a few minutes ago! You can find a link to the trimmed video with just the track in the description. Still just a pre-mix, but I think I’ll get round to mixing the whole EP soon!
I was inspired to build these clones for the very same reasons but - as the newb I am in soldering - I fried my first PCB resoldering, removing resoldering, removing, etc. then bought the pcb kit again, new thinner solder, and still it does not work. And it is a VERY simple and shematic. Now I am totally stuck and waiting for help on the MusikDing forum ^^ BR
Oh no, I'm sorry you ran into problems with your build. Did you get it to work in the end? I think starting with a fuzz pedal is a safer bet, they're much easier to build as a first project.
Well, we learn from mistakes! Great that you managed to get it to work. I had one synth module where I pulled off a pad while desoldering a scratchy pot. Had to fix it with little wires, but it actually works just fine now.
Outstanding steel drum track btw. .. how many delay pedals are you using and how are they stacked?. .ascending or descending delay times. sorry for posting so much, browsing Utube channels is my morning coffee routine.
Thanks! I wrote that track a long time ago, so I don’t remember how they were stacked but there were definitely two of them, both digital. One was this delay pedal I built and the other some cheap Chinese affair. Ammoon Pockecho. It tends to get out of hand with three of them 😅
Simple remark: about your wondering what is the upper limit for price tags of expensive guitare fx pedals... there's this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klon_Centaur which is sold for $5000 only. Five thousands bucks, you read well. BUT, it is a fuzz. A fuzz with 3 buttons! You're not limited to one button like on Big Muff Pi :-) I think I heard the guy from JHS Pedals say the Klon Centaure is the most expensive boutique pedal ever. Though I assume Eventide or Lexicon are able to design and produce dedicated fx pedals at artists demand, in which case I assume that might really well overblow this limit of $5000.
Oh wow, that sure is quite a lot. I think it’s worse if these become collector’s items, because they always go up in price then. I have a very utilitarian relationship with pedals. I like having new creative options, but I don’t really feel the need to “collect” or own something just for the sake of owning it. If given the choice between the real deal and building the same effect from a circuit diagram I think I’d always prefer to build it myself.
Always wanted to play with PT2399 myself :) I like the sound of the pedal, sounds analog! Great track Lilly, is it recorded through tape? Just curious as it sounds very warm, it's playing here while I build more things, nice discovery, thanks! - I love the bloopers at the end haha :)
It does sound really analog considering it's based on a chip! I actually have a PT2399 module in my AE modular rack too which also sounds pretty organic, definitely an interesting chip! And thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the track! It's been a while and my notes from that time are sketchy at best, so I'm not quite sure whether this involved real tape or tape loops or even some emulated tape plugin? There was definitely some form of tape mangling involved though, I used a lot of tape and tape loops on that entire album. It's quite interesting how far the tape emulation stuff has come, I can't really tell it apart anymore! There is a good chance this was real tape though 😅 And I definitely have a backup copy on tape!
I like the paint job :) next time rough up the surface alil with steel wool or sandpaper... then hit it wit a coat of cheap $1 a can white spray paint as a primer then any color u use will POP and not streak as easy :)
Haha, thanks, that’s exactly what I did though 😂 I did another one with a different colour and that turned out pretty even, so I’m guessing this blue is just a little particular? I don’t mind really, it has character 😉
A Boss ME-25 multi effects, wha/volume pedal and looper all in one unit is a good way to put a lid on an out of control pedal effects purchase addiction--or at least I thought so...
Only if you let it 😂 building your own pedals isn’t quite as effective at stopping the addiction, but it’s a way cheaper habit. Just don’t let yourself get dragged into Eurorack DIY 😉
Well, the one I built is based on the PT2399 IC which is a sort of gritty lofi sounding delay that can kinda feel analog and is often used for a sort of tape like sound degradation to the echoes. I don’t think it compares to any of the Boss digital delays, but not in the sense that it’s necessarily “worse”. It’s just different and it would be an apples vs oranges comparison. It’s just a different flavour, less “perfect”? It’s kinda like the old Alesis MIDIverbs from the 90s. With that I don’t mean that they sound in any way similar, it’s more of a advancement of technology comparison. More modern digital reverbs are far superior to the MIDIverb and sound much more natural, but there is just something magical about those old early digital effects precisely because they sound neither analog nor properly pristine. Alesis verbs were used on a lot of the records from the 90s I enjoy, so I use the midiverb when I want that vibe. And with another track or instrument I might prefer my objectively “better” Polara. Same goes for this delay. I have “better” delays, but sometimes gritty is a good thing. Hence the Pokemon “gotta catch them all” addiction. I have 4 different delay pedals and each one sounds different! It gets really fun when you combine them!
Eh, are you deliberately trying to give me expensive GAS? 🤣😈 The Kronos looks good, but well, I think I would have to have more than pandemic 0s in my bank account for that 😉
Same here! At least a couple of my cameras came out of my food budget, including my Leica. That took about 3-4 years of saving, because I was very broke at the time, but I’ve never gone into debt over gear. It’s how I was brought up. Spending money you don’t have is only going to cause trouble in the long run, because the future is entirely unpredictable.

How much time did it take to come ? I have ordered a pedal too on Sunday, they said 3-5 working days and since then i haven't received any tracking number...
Well, I live in Spain, so anything from Germany takes at least a week. It was relatively fast for me, but that was long before Corona. Their website has a Covid shipping delay warning so it may take longer than usual. For me they were really reliable though. I had no problems with 2 orders, so I wouldn’t worry about it yet. Strange times indeed.
@@LillySchwartz oh i see...well i live in Greece, i hope that my order will arrive until 26/06 (i made my order at 14/06)because my best friend has his birthday...it would suck not to have the present just in time because i have organized everything....anyway, thank you so much for your answer!
Fingers crossed that it all works out for you! I’m sure your friend would understand if it was a little delayed though! After all things aren’t exactly normal right now ...! One of my packages got delayed at customs for like a month now, it came from Russia. And the post in Japan doesn’t ship to Spain at all at the moment. In any case, I hope it still works out for you!
Building your own is so much cheaper, definitely! My advice: Don’t look into building modular synth stuff! I went down that rabbit hole last summer and it gets way more expensive than pedals, even DIY. Too late for me, I’m hooked, but my wallet would be so much happier if I had stuck with guitar pedals 😂
@@LillySchwartzsounds tempting but I'll stick to my fuzz/octave/sample reducer builds although I like synth stuff and probably will lean into it sooner or later 😅 thats the price you pay for digging into lofi/ambient guitar stuff
Wise choice! I’m really much more of a synth person than a guitar person, so falling into the modular rabbit hole was inevitable for me 😅 What kind of sample reducer and octave builds are you planning? Sounds interesting!
@@LillySchwartz didnt know that from yt 😑 anyway, I'm building the sonic reducer from parasit studio and checking their synth/octave layouts. On my to do list is also the maestro filter sample and hold, sounds amazing with reverb and octavers

Definitely looks cool! The odyssey actually started much earlier, but I was building stuff with LEDs first. If you look around on my channel you can find the darkroom timer that I built first. The kalimba I have as a piezo integrated so that’s how I recorded it.

Although some don’t seem to have the extra board for the foot switch. My next one is a fuzz which is super simple, but no footswitch board, so most effort will probably go into figuring that one out!
I would also love to see more effects projects.
There will definitely be more coming, I already have the kits and everything! I have been meaning to build them already, but my computer broke and I don’t have the hardware to record without it 🤦♀️ Just finished building a new computer finally, so I can get back to writing and testing out new effects! 😀

Typical! Solder bridges are so annoying! I had some real ones on some of my other projects, so unsurprising that I expected the worst with this one 😅
@@LillySchwartz little vaccum pump helps to pull off the bridge, if there is one🤣
My little vacuum pump worked overtime … uselessly 😂
Love your DIY spirit!
Thanks Thomas! DIY FTW!!
Stay healthy and best regards from Germany
Cheers
THOGRE
EDIT: I bet on a spring reverb you would have fun too.

Really nice designed Pedal

Oh, it really isn’t that hard! Resistors first, then the chip sockets, then the capacitors, wiring last. With lead free solder use a soldering station that can get properly hot. If you’ve never soldered before I’d recommend to do a fuzz pedal first. They have far fewer parts! Easy wins!

This is awesome. I am getting back into music and want to build some pedals myself. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you Stefan, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I always recommend to start with a fuzz for beginners, they tend to be really simple circuits! I just built one the other day and it was super easy. Do you know already what you want to build? 😀
@@LillySchwartz Yes, I also want to begin with a fuzz. Which one did you built?
I built one called The Boss from Musikding. The board is fairly small, so that’s good soldering practice! 0.6 solder wire helps! Wiring the foot switch took much longer than soldering the board, which tells you how simple the circuit is! They also have a fuzz called The Easy, the name tells you everything you need to know 😂
@@LillySchwartz I will get myself The Easy then! :) Thanks and stay cool.
I'm also a really big fan of the polara rev pedal.

Not quite as much demand for those.
nice ambience

You've inspired me to build my own delay pedal! lol I don't even own a soldering gun, but with the tutorial video you used I feel more confident to try.

This is super awesome Lily! Diggin’ your ambient music on your videos! Wish I could build a delay pedal for my pedaboard as well😎🤘🏼
Aww, thank you Ted! I’m really glad you enjoy my music too!
Believe me, building these is really not that hard! You just need a soldering iron and a bit of patience! The rest is just putting the components where the PCB board tells you to put them! Just give it a go! Looks way more intimidating than it is 😀 Rock on! 🤘
Lilly Schwartz As a guitarist, building pedals for a unique pedalboard is the coolest thing ever!!😎👍 Keep it up!! Those ambient music are really cool!
Definitely very useful! Pedals can get sooo expensive! 😂
Yeah! Especially those modulation pedals. They’re really expensive
Totally, chorus and tremolo is still fine, but if you want the style of digital delay or reverb pedals popular for ambient it just gets stupidly expensive. Sadly those are also pretty much impossible to DIY 😬
Wicked 🙂 I really need to practice my soldering ...
Haha, me too, I burned myself a couple times on this one 🤦♀️ these kits are good practice tho, lots of components, little space!
@@LillySchwartz The aim is to get my chops up enough in order to do a euro rack module 🙂
Oh, that’s my aim too! I want to build the mutable instruments ones and that’s all surface mount components 😱 last time I tried to do SMD soldering it was a total mess and utter failure 😂 but I’ll get there eventually! What are you planning to build?
@@LillySchwartz Cool! www.thonk.co.uk/shop/mtm-spring-reverb-mkii-kit/

Nice song and cool video thanks
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😀

Cool! Maybe you wanna try to mess with some tape loops and tape delay. Did you ever?
Thanks Gustavo! Yes, tapeloops are cool, I sometimes play around with them! In this video for example:
th-cam.com/video/_zwrknWDBe0/w-d-xo.html
I haven’t yet had the chance to play with tape delay, but I’m pretty sure I will before long!
Should have watched the whole thing before posting. . Sounds cool eh? ;hadn’t thought about putting EQ in the chain. What is the max delay time ?
Kalimba was literally the first thing I put through it 😂 fantastic. The EQ helps to cut out some of the harsher frequencies, always a decent boost for the kalimba. I have no idea what the delay time is on this thing, but there is a PT2399 in there I think, so 340 ms according to something I just found on the interwebs?
fantastic! do you ever put vocal samples on your album cuz you have such a relaxing voice and accent! hahah
Thank you! 😁 I haven’t used my voice yet, but I think I might at some point. I used to be very self-conscious about my voice and I’m not much of a singer, but hearing my voice recorded for TH-cam has mellowed my aversion somewhat.
Is there somewhere I can listen to Walk Into Oblivion by itself? Sounds like it could be good reading music.
Thank you, I’m glad you like the music! I also like listening to stuff like that when I’m reading!

I was inspired to build these clones for the very same reasons but - as the newb I am in soldering - I fried my first PCB resoldering, removing resoldering, removing, etc. then bought the pcb kit again, new thinner solder, and still it does not work. And it is a VERY simple and shematic. Now I am totally stuck and waiting for help on the MusikDing forum ^^

Oh no, I'm sorry you ran into problems with your build. Did you get it to work in the end? I think starting with a fuzz pedal is a safer bet, they're much easier to build as a first project.
@@LillySchwartz yes, it turned out I had everything right on the PCB but one cable was still loose causing a short. Perfect learning experience :-)

How did you do the white lettering on the case. It looks neat.
I used a stencil and a Posca pen for those, then sprayed the case with clear lacquer to make it permanent! Worked well and still looks handmade 😀
Really enjoyed ‘Polarcoaster’ at the end - do you record via 4 or 8 track onto cassette?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's a Yamaha MT 100, so it's 4 track!
You're not limited to one button like on Big Muff Pi :-)
I think I heard the guy from JHS Pedals say the Klon Centaure is the most expensive boutique pedal ever.
@@LillySchwartz It sounds warm and great, nice track! You making me want to try to play with the chip hehe, cheers Lilly!

No quiero parecer raro, pero piensa que esta chica es demaciado bella aparte de ser inteligente, simplemente perfecta.
@@LillySchwartz How does the delay pedal you built compare in tone with the Boss Digital Delay pedal that is sort of the gold standard in pedal tone?
I know what you need, Lilly. A Korg Chronos synth and a Lag HyVybe guitar :D :D
Eh, are you deliberately trying to give me expensive GAS? 🤣😈 The Kronos looks good, but well, I think I would have to have more than pandemic 0s in my bank account for that 😉

Fingers crossed that it all works out for you! I’m sure your friend would understand if it was a little delayed though! After all things aren’t exactly normal right now ...! That is why I've got myself into diy guitar pedals, spent too much on gear. Building pedals still costs money but is a less expensive hobby at least 🤭
Ah, I think you tried to comment again, but the YT filter caught it. YT doesn’t allow links and has a fairly strict word filter. Super annoying!

@@LillySchwartz I guess I will need some weeks to check your videos. 😆
😂 well, I’ve been making videos for a few years. Not too many though, could have done much more if it hadn’t been for all that end of the world crap 🙃
🐣😱😱😱
Hey
Everything going to be steep once started.. :|
You mean the synth building process? I already blew up two ICs in my experiments 😂 I did make a pretty decent audible square wave though! Still, most schematics I look at are still a bit 🤯
Useless video, just sharing that she created...
Well, your comment isn't winning any awards for its usefulness either 🤣 What exactly did you expect?
