    Mike, pharmacists/pharmacy technicians do a lot more than putting pills in a bottle! Techs need to enter the Rx into the system, ensure that insurance is covering as it should, prepare the med. Then it goes to the pharmacist to do the technical and clinical check - ensure there are no drug interactions, ensure dose is correct and make sure all the instructions are correct. That’s a summary but lots of things not included here goes into ensure the medication is most appropriate for you! They do all this while answering questions from patients, doctors calling in for help, giving vaccinations, following up with insurance companies for coverage etc.

    Hello from a person who has had both her appendix and gallbladder removed. My appendix didn't burst, I was I think 22 at the time and was having a really weird abdomen pain and a fever, went to the ER where they ran blood work, and did a CT scan. The scan is what really showed my appendix was extremely inflamed and on the verge or bursting. Instantly got taken back for surgery, went home the same day. Then my gallbladder was a little less alarming, and this was when i was about 25. I had been experiencing extreme GERD issues, and there was some blood work that came back abnormal. My doctor ordered a ultrasound of my liver, and it showed an inflamed gallbladder and what looked like stones. Was scheduled for a surgery a few days later, and then went home the same day from surgery. I too am like Erin and am a hypochondriac, which is why I think I caught things before they got too bad. I feel like the horror stories we hear of people's insides exploding is because they aren't hypochondriac's about everything they feel LOL. But I also enjoy knowing I never have to worry about my appendix exploding at an inconvenient time. 😄 (sorry Matt! Lol)

    I’m months late but I’m a pharmacy technician it takes so long to get things ready because it has to go through a 2-3 step process, then filling the med, and finally the pharmacist bags it up. A lot of the times it’s due to insurance or we are waiting on more information from the dr (you’d be surprised how often dr’s forget things) or pt drug allergies/interacts with another med. If the pharmacy is slow it shouldn’t take too long however if they are busy it’ll take a while (my pharmacy has a usual wait of 1 hour because of how busy we are) hope that gives some insight if you see this!

    The only thing I’d note is it actually is very common/possible to over hydrate. Water intake should be based on your weight/hight
    And if you drink to much at once - you can also throw up. I had to learn this the hard way plus I know people who have been in the hospital because of drinking too much water!

    Kidney stones are no joke! I’ve had two. The first one thankfully only lasted a few hours but the second sent me to the ER just for some relief 36 hours in. First thing I told them was “I don’t want narcotics but give me something!” Passed the dang thing after 45 minutes and a bag of fluids 🤦‍♀️ I’ve had flank pain a few times and always wondered “Is this a kidney stone?” Then you actually get one and realize there’s no mistaking it for something else. I had a total hysterectomy about a year before the worst one. Woke up afterwards and went home 30 minutes later. Never took anything more than the Ibuprofen 800’s. About a six week recovery. I’d take five hysterectomies over having another kidney stone! 😂😂

      Matt is such a know it all it’s making me not like this podcast. A simple google search would reveal that O+ is the most common blood type (34% of the population) and is the universal recipient of all other blood types. Type O- is the universal donor. I know this because I donate blood regularly and I paid attention in biology. At least this podcast makes me feel intelligent.

    I had kidney stones when I was almost 9 months pregnant - apparently they’re fairly common in pregnancy. The pain was excruciating. I can also confirm that kidney stone pain and active labour contraction pain are pretty comparable. I had my baby 3 weeks after I had the kidney stones, without any pain intervention (not because I was trying to be a hero, but because my labour went so quickly that there wasn’t time lol I definitely wanted an epidural), and I honestly don’t know which was worse.

    Most of those pharmacy chains are filling hundreds of prescriptions it's not just throwing some pills in the bottle and bag....but rite aid is one of the worst! Usually an independent pharmacy will be faster. Also. Most pharmacies are severely understaffed, overworked, and very very underpaid.... and the corporate ones are often under a lot of pressure from the top. Please be patient with your pharmacy teams.

    i think if you have any abdominal surgery they’ll take your appendix out, cause it’s there and you’re already under. it’s like an hour surgery but if it bursts they have to take all your abdominal organs out and rinse them and clean your cavity before putting the organs back and that’s like an 8 hour surgery. don’t quote me on this though😂

    Really enjoying each episode, keep em coming! Too bad there isn't a hotline to call in during the show though, I'm sure the lines would be ringing off the hook. LOL. Hey Mike...and the gang actually, all those poor eating habits and poor exercising habits will hit you like a ton of bricks in your mid 30's . You def need to start implementing a good balance of healthy habits. Keep walking and moving around through out the day as much as possible. Implement healthy foods as much as possible, even through vitamins or supplements. Healthy fats for sure. Seems you guys are in a decent range of health...but just be ready...things will fly off the rails quickly by your mid 30's or so. My eating habits were similar to Mikes' and I think i was 36 when my body revolted. SO yea...find ways to at least implement healthy fats and carbs and exercises where you stretch and move those joints around as well as increase your heart rate.

  • @EmmaAus
    @EmmaAus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Erin SAME!! I had a cyst removed from my left ovary the size of a rockmelon/cantaloupe - They didn't give me photos but mine was apparently dermoid as well - Did you have to have a laparotomy too, or were they able to do it via laparoscopy/key hole?
    Crazy! I've never heard of someone having an almost identical situation/size to mine :-p
    EDIT: I just got up to the part where you mentioned c-sections... If you had the same operation as me to remove that cyst, that's what we had :-p A laparotomy is basically a c-section, they plopped our organs on the table... We just had a cyst baby, instead of a human baby haha

    My dog ate a mushroom off the ground outside and almost died I’m traumatized 😥 mushrooms can kill dogs! So happy that dog was okay 😅

    I found out in high school science I was 0 blood type. They don't teach things like that in school today!

      My mom always knew mine & my brothers, I would ask her sometimes (blood drive) and eventually remembered. I think it’s because she’s a negative blood type so there’s some concern with pregnancy/childbirth.

    around minute 33:00 where they talked about how doctors won’t automatically know what’s wrong and that they use the process of trial and error for a solution. THAAANK YOUUU for having common sense ! i work in a drs office just at the front desk and i have gotten called multiple names due to patients just having to schedule another appointment and ordering more lab work because the doctor hasn’t found the problem yet. it’s just insane
