A game that I'll definitely stay until the end and it's my 1st gacha game that didn't made me feel pressured when I'm relaxing. The game is generous when giving free gem's, that's why I spend a bit in monthly passes to show my support. Thumbs up for them for being Cultured as well.
AL is just a chill and casual gacha game. I've played a lot of gacha games in the past and stop playing them after at some point for some reason. But, AL is different story for me. I don't feel any pressure at all. Also, Yostar is so goddamn BASED for a company. haha
A correction on the Chinese censorship as they are run by a Chinese company. In China they had to remove several waifus from the game to follow the laws there. Fortunately, they made the decision to have a separate server for China so they can let us non-Chinese folks enjoy the waifus. I really enjoy Azur Lane though. It's one of those gacha the I keep coming back to.
I remember when that happened. At least those who already got those ships before the ban happened get to keep them but unfortunately new players will never get them (if they play Chinese version).
in my opinion, even though the combat itself may be bland, the equipment system is very interesting and diverse such as different guns having different ammo type and range as well as different torpedoes, auxilary gears and aa guns. It makes building each ship fun and allows for different variation of play for different ships unlike other games where you just chuck the strongest gear on the unit and never look back. I find this equipping process very fun and makes up for the lack of combat gameplay itself
Indeed. I see the side-scrolling bullet hell combat as not the main gameplay of AL but rather the preparation aspect. Building a fleet, looking at synergies of ships and skills, as well as guns and equipment appropriate for the circumstance. The game is more fun if you look at it that way. Honestly ruined a lot of gacha games for me.
@@milfagent6531 same, couldn't play more of it after a while because I'm so used to playing Dokkan and grinding for the medals for dokkan awakenings and getting my ass handed to me on SBR and ultimate red zone and eza and ezb and feeling good whenever bardock does 2 million per super attack and hearing the music blasting
Here’s another chad Yostar moment. So, Azure Lane has a couple ongoing official mangas and *two* animes. For the first anime, which has an original story, they contracted a newer animation studio to make it. And the animation was, well, awful. It wasn’t a bad art style choice either; one episode had *one* animator that made the entire thing. So, in response to the complaints by players about the animation, Yostar made their own in-house animation studio, and they are actually really good! They made their own anime based on the Full Ahead manga and now make animated introductions for all the major events. Here’s their first ever released PV th-cam.com/video/3jiYzTMpEs8/w-d-xo.html
As an AL veteran, I can definitely say this is one of the best gacha games out there. Sure while I may just put it on auto and ignore it because the combat is a little dull, it has a special place in my heart. I love the gacha, I love looking through my dock and seeing all my shipgirls powered up, and the fair gacha rates keep me interested in new events and the way they rerun events. I love the game with all of my heart, and so does my wallet.
I like the game because it take so little effort to play, turn on auto search and everything is done. But the worst thing I really hate is that the story is trash, like the worst in all of the gacha, making shipfu are just dolls with stereotype anime personality.
@@hungnao282 yeah the main story line is pretty blank and I just skipped through it without a second thought but if you want to dive well deep into the lore of azur lane then I suggest going to Op. Siren. The storyline there isn't what you're looking for but if you have the time then I suggest going through the confidential files. Because once you collect all of them it really gives you a big insight into the azur lane world that I feel like is just too hidden from the rest of the player base. I won't spoil it too much but the lore inside of those files is basically kind of mirrors our world post WW2 and I think it's an interesting read if you want to give it a go.
been playing for a year at this point. the gameplay is very side gamey, and i honestly like that. the rates are suuper generous too. definitely a good gacha to try out
Yup. I keep thinking everytime I try playing another gacha game, "How dare you demand so much of my time and attention. You're just a fucking gacha game." If you want a more engaging game in general, maybe playing gacha games isn't the best idea. Yes AL is side-gamey, but let's be honest. Do you really want a gacha game to take 100% of you? That's kinda sad.
The meat of the story and where all the good stuff is comes with all the events that they release. Rondo at Rainbows End had some of the biggest lore dumps and story moments we've ever seen.
This is the only one I haven't quit yet despite sometimes not even feeling like logging in. And that's fine, there's 0 pressure on the player to do anything. The game doesn't employ dumbass fomo mechanics where you feel like you have to complete every single thing because of how little resources they give out to the poor people that have to scrounge for literally every single fucking penny to be able to even roll just one character they want. You can just play when you want to play and still always have enough to roll (and get) what you want. Actually you can pretty much just get everyone on every banner by just playing the game, it's funny that there haven't been a single game since then that does the same and isn't dog shit. The gameplay loop itself is whatever, it's just a means to an end, but you don't need intricate gameplay to really keep people playing. Genshin has actual gameplay that looks inviting and compared to other gachas it makes them look like lego, but it dries up in a few months because despite the gameplay being solid you're just doing the same shit over and over, it's just dressed differently. Here they don't pretend that there is some grandiose gameplay, you can just fuck around on auto and jerk off while it does its thing, but despite that I've never felt like "yeah this is fucking boring I'm done." It's clear what their business model is, and so it's also clear why you as a person play the game. There is an understanding between the devs and players without any room for ambiguous ideas, which is rare in gaming let alone in a gacha game. So nah, it's far from the worst gacha. If gacha is defined by spending money to get pictures in pretend games, then this one is the best still to this day.
Azur Lane is very generous in terms of gacha currency & fuel, the skins are absolute stunning but I still quit AL because of the limited storage and the grind.
Been playing Azur for almost 4 years now. Never really encountered players judging what ship you use on this and this is probably one of the reason I stayed for so long playing it. Sure there are Meta ships also but it doesn't really affect me if I'm not using them. Also I just notice your formation Stix, you just need to slide Prinz Eugen on the left most slot (tank slot). Having your ship on a proper node on formation makes so much difference when clearing content.
@@usllik1418 reroll isn't really a thing on Azur. They gave alot of cubes that eventually you can pull on every banner but as a new player you might want to skip some banners first to save, then pull on a very good banner to get good ships.
The best gacha i ever played. Never felt pressured bout anything yet still has really nice ingame progression and the feeling of accomplishment it gives you.
The big thing about teambuilding and clearing stuff is this: Outside of w12+, just get your waifus some more levels and try again. I'm farming 11-1 for PR exp atm, and i'm throwing in level 99 blue ships. And it just works. I don't even give them all gear.
As far as i know w12 works well if u got good AA or u can use cheshire and sandy in two fleets and normal ships otherwise...Both of those are 400+AA and shred planes
@@randomyoutubecommentersecu7639 Yes....which means that in w12 you can't just go "Oh, i'll just use whatever and if it doesn't work, get them some more levels." Which was my point. You can go ultra casual for up to w11, w12 is when you need to START using actual teambuilding.
@@Azzaciel I wouldn't say w12 is were you need to build fleets, w13 is more that but just throw CVs. W12 you can overlevel pretty easily, w13 is only able to get close after grinding for months since you need a ton of cog arrays. While you need lots of cog chips for 120, those are easily obtainable from multiple sources, from events, core data shop, daily mission, I'm pretty sure medal shop, and some stages drop them as well.
@@Azzaciel w12 is actually quite easy compared to w11 with flagship snipe. Well yes, overleveling make w11 easy, but you won't even need that for w12, just slap quad bofor on everyone, get 2 130+% AA light cruiser with decent AA stat for each fleet and you are set. W13 is what push your teambuild to the limit, with swarms of high damage planes attacking your backline. Compare to that w12 might as well be a tutorial. And then come w14 with both of the worst things from w11 and w13 combined. Plane swarm and brutal backline snipe, with new useful mechanic that somewhat help with a problem of your vanguard looking like paper against these boss-tier barrage even in mob nodes...
I stopped playing Azure Lane since Arknights was released, because i'm more into (strategical) gameplay and deep lore than fan services but i'm glad this Yostar game is still going strong after many years since the release...
Azur Lane actually has pretty good lore if you're willing to delve into it. Manjuu has been focused more on progressing its story and lore for at least 2 years now. The events are more story driven now as more end game content is introduced.
@@sirboomsalot4902 Bon Homme Richard definitely a mysterious enemy for the Siren and the Shipgirl, can't wait to see that "thing" appear again in the later lore
Azur Lane has two kinds of lore. The first is the game lore, and there's also actual history, which is one of the great things about this game, you'll get interested in real history by learning about the ship behind each girl, and all the crazy things they got up to.
I often find most gacha games to have too little to do like only spending 10 minutes per day, so I love the grinding/farming part of Azur Lane. Besides, battles are pretty much the key ingredient of warship games anyway, and I have fun testing how my team performs in each fight. However I can agree that event maps can lower the times needed to clear to proceed the story. Those are pretty much oil sink and nothing constructive. Azur Lane is probably the most f2p friendly gacha game I have ever played, but I strongly recommend to invest some money into dock space and the dorm. Put an initial investment at least to expand the dorm to 6 slot so 6 ships can get passive exp. Dock space is important if the ambition is to pull every event ship in the future. Other than these 2 things, there isn't a strong need to pay for anything... except well... costumes :D
Propably the best gacha out there, especially with the high rates and less predatory than usual monetisation. Everyone already said all the good things, so let me say what they could improve. -Gameplay can be monotone a bit. -Chibis could be better, like Konosuba game. -End game and PR ships are too grindy. -A commander like GFL could be fun. -It can be a rocky start. This is the biggest area where the game could do better. This isn't the usual gacha that is super easy and hits you with a paywall. That is a good thing, but it starts off kind of hard. Like the worst mmo series often says, this can be a quit moment for many players. The first month is the hardest and it is a steep learning curve. I read comments that people left before they cleared this hurdle often. Still, this game is the best I can recommend in its genre of mobile gacha. You can get fine with f2p, and even better with around 5 dollars spent per month on it. Yes, I am looking at you, Diablo Immoral. Plus, there is a waifu for every man of culture's personal taste. I mean, clearly German and Russian girls have the coolest looks... 🔥☠
It's a pretty simple game on its surface, but there's so much freaking stuff in it. I like how significant ship compositions and gear compositions are in the game. I also like how you DON'T need the best ships to beat certain content. You can absolutely craft a non-meta fleet and go auto-farm, or whatever, for the gear you need specifically to make that fleet work. Then once you're ready, you can go attack that stage and manually clear it with your non-meta fleet and feel such a sense of accomplishment as some of it is truly difficult!
I wholeheartedly agree with your review, except one thing. Yes, AL is by all means grindy as hell, but there's a good side to this- most of the grind is just you clicking things through every few minutes, the game does most for you on autoplay. Of course, the progress is sluggish because of that, but as you said- this is basically the only downside of this game. As for me, I prefer this game to be grindy and player-friendly in every other matter than straight up annoying at times, making you directly feel that you are behid the a paywall.
It’s fine if you just put random ship together. As a commander lvl 125, I do that too. End game in AL are getting resources and lvl up as much ships to 120 as possible. Majority of the ship when get to 120 will give permanent stats to other ships of the same type. So my daily routine are just lvling ships to 120 and then repeat.
I got into AL not long after it came out, at the time I didn't have a good device to run the game so I couldn't get that far into the game so I quit. What a mistake that was. I created a new account sometime in October/November of 2021. Spent no money. Except the gems I got to expand dock space and the dorm. Everything else can be done with guild/stuff you get by leveling up to get more fleets. I prioritized Elites and higher aswell as certain retrofit ships. Now I have almost all the banner UR's aswell as around 150+ SSR's. All for free. It just depends on how much time you want to spend on the game and unlike other games the time you spend is worth it. Early on yes, it can be a challenge which I get. I started fresh too. But aslong as you do your weekly missions, stay informed of advantageous event rewards that could be VERY useful, then you have to formula to success. I'll be honest, I do go for alot of the high SSR ships but aslong as you go for worlds that have high gear. Know where to get that gear, save up your oil and cubes. It's fun. Sure you won't get everything but it's not a big deal. There's some things you obviously need for the LATE-LATE game of stages in the campaign but you don't HAVE to do it. Not at all. This game is one of the best F2P games I've ever played, the only thing you most likely pay for? The skins, that's it, everything else at one point or another you can get in-game. I hope more people have the chance to give it the recognition it deserves. :3
Started the game in 2018 during the Minneapolis / Washington event. I think I've miss less than 5 days of daily login. I remember a few years ago a post on the EN reddit someone complaining about the drop rate being way too generous, removing the "great prestige" of owning a unit like in other (ultra predatory) games. I'll stick with Azur Lane and Arknights for the time being.
🌸😹It is certainly so that there is a hater out there for every thought and thus no matter what one does or how they act, someone shall always loathe them with a passion.😹🌸
I've been playing AL for a year and a half now. I see your points about grind, but that really only comes into play in Chapter 7 or later. 3 starring a map does nothing other than give you bonus rewards for taking the time to do it. Repeating a map also makes it easier. Clearing the map a total of 10 times (once it says Clear!) will lower its threat level. At threat level 0, you get 20% damage reduction in that level. It's very, very F2P friendly. On a weekly basis, you get enough cubes to do a 10 pull guaranteed and may have some left over to save. I have yet to play a gacha game that does this. Stockpiling for events is the way to go and often will net you almost every ship in an event. I've played dozens of gacha. And the only 2 I regularly stick with are AL and Arknights. I just love tower defense games in general so Arknights is fun in that regard.
The tactical academy is a must...Once you upgrade it you farm the stages for a while and can stash up to 33 xp packs....You can quick boost ship levels to tackle higher stages.
Love Azur Lane :) it really is just a nice and relaxing game if you want it to be. Or, if you want to be super serious, it can scratch that itch a bit too. For me, the one thing that gives me the big sad is that I missed some of the collab ships. Played the events, but just didn't have the luck... As someone that is all in on the collection aspects of game, missing those bums me out
You can play this game in so many ways. From Idle managing game to active tryhard minmaxy bullethell. I play this game in cycles. Most of the time I put no effort into getting my things, just spamming my strongest ships untill I get my rewards and the ships I like (which I can always get if I plan just a little bit smart) and sometimes actually tyharding a bit in Op siren and pvp. Very satisfying and I've never felt pressured to do everything, log in every day or pay for pulls (although I will say, skins are sometimes a bit dangerous if you wanna go f2p)
Just got into AL earlier this year and it's probably gonna take me forever to get to PR5 lol ... very grindy indeed but it has some charm that makes me willingly open my wallet and spend on the gems for those skins and be satisfied with ...
I like this series you are making, and I like the way you are taking this subject. I would believe you are inspired by the series "Worst MMO Ever?", and thinking of that makes me wonder why don't your try taking some less known gatchas after these more poplars. I would guess you are starting with these to attract an audience or to cover Gatchas that you already know, but the niche of knowing WHY a gatcha can be bad is something I'm missing and that I really think would make this series even better. Looking forward to it :)
as a veteran who have played AL since it was launched, azur lane would always be a special game in my heart, my favourite thing about AL is that you can get every ships in the game if you manage your resources right and play your daily, that's basically what make me play it for so long, since i love collecting stuff, and having a complete collection of almost every ships in the game is so satisfiying for me, i only miss 2 ships in my collection, it's from neptune collab event (i miss read when the event last day was) , god it's still hurt everytime i remember it
Once you get good ships and get to a point where you can easily do chapter 10 or higher then you don't need to farm too much. If you manage your cubes well and don't get too unlucky on a banner your cube number will just go up.
Just saw Asmon reacting to your Nikke video and had to check out if you made one on my fav Azur Lane and sure enough here we are Also, gotta say, love the concept overall. I think critique videos are far too uncommon nowadays in the reactionary times of "This is great" and "This is crap". My personal reasons as to why I love Azur Lane are twofold. For one its incredibly F2P friendly, considering you can do very little between events to still get the full extend of the events content. Just do the dailies and you got all you need. For the other, which is also on the F2P friendly side, is that they shower you in events and inbetween with Premium currency. You straight up never have to buy a single thing with real money. And yes, I did spend money on the game after I had played it for 1 year without doing so. I wanted Saratoga and I couldnt be asked to grind the same stage 500 times xD
I love al. The story is great, the waifus are mega tier, the devs are just amazing, they reward you for anything, "oh tweet took like 30 retweets uhh here 6 bullins and gems" this the only game where im willing to spend money without care just so i can support the devs who give a shit
ngl, I don't see how the gacha itself can be considered bad. I've never had to buy Cubes except for one time for Shinano pity, but even then, nowadays, I always have anywhere between 500 to 800 Cubes at any given time. Just from being consistent with dailies and weeklies and careful management between banners. And I always get the UR and almost all the SSRs. The REAL money is in the Oath Rings and the Skins though. I've been paying for those.
Hope you unlock the mystery Easter egg about "akashi" which can be started at any point of the game and UR are the way to help fleets to be stronger (means saving up to 400 cubes and spending all 200 pulls on UR events)
UR pity system is the best thing ever. Literally harder to get lover rarity ships because of it. I have everyone except NJ only because I didn't cared about saving cubes that much. I still wait for her rerun with 400+ cubes. I never go under until rerun. And because the game is insanely generous. You can easily doo that. I have 678 cubes at the moment. I don't think any other gacha game you can do that.
Genshin was my first gacha game Lost quite the amount of money... Luckily I found this and noticed I lost alot less money per month Thankfully I found this game and able to keep a large amount of cubes over 120 at all times only issue issue for me is coins to few for to to much cubes always able to get UR's and SR's on each event since it doesn't screw you out like genshin impact and make drop rates lower then 1%
I'd say some gacha are fair to us and the dev but AL is so far towards players vets are expected to have all relevant ships. AL's business model is to sell skins over profiting on gacha which is how should be mobile game in the first place. If there is a gacha to survive harsh regulations on lootbox, it's Azur Lane. One problem AL has is dock space (box space). Gems are required to purchase more. As new ships are released, F2P players will eventually need to sell old ships to make room for new ones. Even for those day 1 F2P players who had used every gems for dock space.
I survived about a year and a half without spending until the dock space caught up to me. And that's with me retiring all common ships and most rare ships. By that point, I already love this game too much that I immediately dropped a 100$ on it. Bought 100 more dock space (have 450 now) and bought my girl Tirpitz her New Years skin. In the first place I didn't need to do that since I could have retired collection tier ships. But why would I? This is a waifu-collecting game and I intend to collect them all (except for the collab ships Sadge).
Manjuu has been giving free 200 gems every so often usually when a very special event happens, the game server reaches a milestone, or compensation for severe inconveniences (apologems). You're usally expected to use them to expand your dock space.
Was Granblue Fantasy for me, then I think Azur Lane was probably second, both are really charitable, but neither I've escaped yet (play them both and 5-6 other gachas daily, send help)
Even casually, if you play long enough you’ll have well over 500 cubes. I’ve only ever *not* cleared a banner twice since I started playing a week after global release
Same. I remember I got 800 cubes because i wanted to stay 400+ if NJ comes back. I got lucky because there were a lot of reruns and didn't needed to spend my cubes. So I got 800 cubes and I thing Ulrich came and I easily get her with the pity system and stayed above 400 cubes. In which other gacha game can you do that? I love it so much. They know their players. They know a lot of people going to buy skins because the ships are so loveable. They create the whole microtransactions around it. Sure you can buy cubes and other stuff but except dock space, everything is overpriced because you don't have to spend real money for it.
To me Azur lane is the best gacha game, There is also a game mode that you unlock later in the game that is also very interesting and keeps things new and refreshing and you Don’t have to play stages over again! Operation Siren is also really good and it can also (sometimes) be pretty tough! And i like that and instead of having two teams you have four on a big map. Its really good
Heya so some tips, I get you said you play casually but I feel these will help regardless of casual or more "hardcore" 1) didn't see it in you "daily routine" but make sure to do exercises, sure PvP is pretty bland in the game and high chance to lose but gives a currency that is good for getting some ships. 2) PR ships/shipyard: even if you have no intention to use the ships (albeit some are really OP) you should always have a ship being constructed in the yard, all of them take 7 days to unlock all the 'quests' you need to complete and all progress is saved if you start on a new ship, so just set one up and let it go day to day so they are there if you ever wanna grind. 3) last one gear is king: seriously that fleet of lvl 90s had a chance to still beat out lvl 100 enemies if you get some good gear. If you wanna get into gear I would suggest the azur lane github tier list. But if you wanna be more casual: gold generally beats purple and blue with some rare exceptions (usually if you need low reload times over actual damage) but if you can get the supplies to get some +6/u gear, eventually +10 on 2 fleets you can get to World 10 even 11 with not too much a struggle. World 9 and beyond is great because it introduces oil caps to farming, meaning more bang for your buck. Anyway happy grinding!
1 thing I somewhat had to be annoyed at, there no pity for rate up ship and I am talking about the SR not UR but it there too since it need 200 pull. Cause I twice now started out with 500+ cube and then I spend 20k-30k oil and uncountable amount of coin to get one of the rate up SR and when it end I got around 100 left. Hell I maxed out the 100000 event point grind before getting that rate up ship both time.
It gives me what I want from a gacha game: collecting hundreds of waifus. I don't play gacha games for gameplay. Any game that offers you hundreds of characters is going to have crap gameplay because of the balancing issues alone. And I hate gambling, which unfortunately is what gacha games are. But Azur Lane has generous rates and let you stockpile more rolls than you'll need per event, such that it's guaranteed you'll get all the girls if you do dailies and don't waste rolls when it's not an event. I honestly think their plan is to make money selling dockspace so that you can collect all your waifus. You start with 150 space. And right now you'll need about 570 spaces to collect all your waifus. That 8400 gems needed to buy 42 dock expansions that give 10 slots each, or about $80 if you use the 2x gems bonus that resets every year. You do get free gems, but they're limited.
As a long term player seeing a new account is jarring but incredibly wholesome. Glad while it’s not your favorite you found enjoyment in it and I hope you find further enjoyment in the future.
For reference, I play Azur lane since day 1 global. You get upwards of 200-250 cubes per month (thats 100-125 event banner rolls / 200 light banner rolls) Ultra rares only release 4 times per year and 400 cubes guarantee at least 1. Even Ultra rares have double the rate of a genshin impact character. You do NOT need copies of characters to max them out, as the game has elite/super rare/ultra rare joke characters that you can slam into any ship to max limit break them. These joker characters are very easily obtained and EN MASSE. The real grind is getting equipment, maxing out your expirience, getting even better equipment, +10 / +13 equipment, fleet composition. Buff Synergy etc. Its a much more macro level game than micro level.
All the bloat from the story I feel is to build the character and back story to each ship for the players to get to know his waifu more when they show up.
It's a decent gacha, but after 2 years I just find the regular gameplay cycle extremely tedious. I already have all the ships I want and care for, and other more interesting gachas are demanding for my attention over this, thus the result is that I rarely log into Azur Lane anymore. I'm kinda tired of the menu simulator that this game is.
Meanwhile, 4th anniversary is today! Anyone who hope for NJ reruns, well maybe today is your lucky day if they announced it in the livestream. Anyway, i've been playing Azur Lane from day 1 and i did quit for 1 month and back to the game again. i gotta says that this game really changes me a lot, like a LOT. i never saw other gacha games thats friendly like this one. With constantly QoL updates, this game become more fun and easier to access even for newbies. Back in my old days, we have suffered with eternal grinding and depressions lol Anyway, happy sailing, shikikan!
I played Azur lane because of the SSSS.Gridman collab. luckily enough, I was able to get all of the Gridman waifus and already maxed them out. unfortunately, I don't have any of the skins since I'm F2P and the gems have to go to summoning them all.
azur lane could be a really...."good" game well for gacha standards if it weren't for its consistent biased nature and unbalanced sharing. Of course if you stay neutral you will love the game but if you care for specific ships or factions the game will very often throw you over... The Japanese in the end always get the better end of the stick as well with the devs being overly biased and always giving them the best treatment which i find stupid
the funniest experience I had on this game was when someone in the global chat circumvented the profanity censor by referring to the newest ship at the time as "mbuttachusetts"
I can't wait to see you review Fire emblem heroes. I said this on reddit for FEH that azur lane is way more f2p then FEH and they downvoted me to -100+. It's ironic because I played FEH during launch and had this huge stigma against Chinese games due to how cash grab they are in nature. Turns out I was wrong when compared to azur lane. Feh is the cash grab
I love AL character design. And I would love to really get into it. Thing is, leveling up ships was REALLY HARD in the beginning. They only added those level up chips like last year or so. I already have over 150+ ships to level up but the game did not really give me a way to level up fast so I was stuck using only one fleet. That made me stop playing it and I REALLY felt behind with all the new systems and mechanics they've added which makes me feel overwhelmed and still having difficulty in really building up my fleet and keep up with the content. I do still keep in touch with the game (checking the new ships and whatever else they add) but I don't think I will ever play it as religiously as I play other games. The game looks amazing and it has the best monetization seen in a gacha game (and it works. Skins are the way this game makes money and it's great). I only wish they made it easier to level up ships in the beginning (not 5 years later). Definitely a game I will continue to keep up with and maybe return for a few weeks every few months. But only cause they'd launch a new ship that looks amazing. Devs that make you grind for days to level up your characters really should change their minds (5 years is too late :))) ) Looking at you, Destiny Child Global. I would LOVE to sink my time into it and thumbs into Demeter's Cleavege, but they decided to limit the number of time you can farm for EXP slimes per day. And that's bullshit!
its funny how the first time me playing this game i was like, damn another boring ass gatcha then years has passed, i gave it another try but not tried to at least go to mid game and started to appreciate the side about this game where youre fine with not even drop a single coin, also the equipment system being pretty deep and such
Been playing Azur Lane since about a month after it came out on ENG servers, I'm almost entirely free to play and casual and I'm almost always able to get all the limited edition ships and unique items during events.
Even though many people already pointed it out, I'll say it again Azur Lane is pretty much a chill and casual gacha game not only that but it's gacha monetization is even better than other gacha games like Genshin Impact and Epic Seven. I think the only thing that would stressed out players would be the startup, final few chapters and pvp matchup other than that it's pretty much chill. On the other hand, the downside is that Skins and packs are hard to get since they require microtransaction but they don't hinder your gameplay. But nevertheless your opinion on this is not bad though most of them are just minor nitpicks here and there.
You don't need to force yourself to grind and play every event, just do what you wanna do, seriously the only thing you need to do is login sometimes to put expedition to farm cubes and if you miss any event you can get later in rerun, also the time to get in "the true end game" is much less than any other famous gatcha, so you can just play what you want without FOMO, there's no need to rush PR ship, equipment, blueprints and opsiren, everybody can play 99% of the content (only exceptions are cap14 and Strongholds in opSiren) whit low tier ships and equips (just know what you are doing), even pvp docents matter if you win or lose.
Azur Lane is the only gacha game I play. I love naval history and found the game on the comments section of Drachinifel's Atlanta class video and never got out of the game's rabbit hole since.
I've been an azur lane player since the hololive collab days, all the way until 6 months ago. The game play was ok but it eventually got too repetitive for me. Each fight was a little too long and too "boring" for me to manually play. I'm not saying its a bad game, but I eventually got burned out. If it was a little like GFL in some aspects it might have been more fun.
im playing both tho (im new on pgr about 2weeks old player) and that 2 games are the only game existing in my phone lol but i think i'll play arknights again once ling drop this upcoming week.
i dont know, i didn't see the whole generous gacha system. i struggled so dam hard in this game that i gave up three times so far. but i guess they get credit for making me come back every now and then.
This. . . AL devs are just chads they give gems so that akashi will take them away from me, and theyre superduper fair with theyre gacha system i got like 2 URs in this current event
In my experience, I only really play AL, and GI to some extent, but religiously only AL. And if you ask my friend (Who I play GI with), he will confirm it's due to one thing especially, and that is my brutal obsession with WWII. And if you ask me, I don't care about the game's individual lore, at all. All ships are =Real exact WWII ships, and the lore is nothing else, but WWII history. And also, I'm down bad for Imperial Japanese Navy Tosa Class Battleship-converted Aircraft Carrier "Kaga" so there is no way out now, I guess.
Without even discussing what game has the hottest waifu, Azur Lane by far has the highest average level of waifu hotness amongst all gacha games. You can come argue your Fate waifu is the hottest of all waifu's. Fine. I won't even tell you that you're wrong, but I will argue until my grave that the total quality of Azur Lane's designs stands above the rest. I recently told a friend: "You should play Azur Lane, because Genshin hides their panties from you on purpose and ban you for using mods to change that, but Azur Lane will strip them down *for* you."
Soooooooo azur lane OG's reply if you remember when auto clear was added and how much nicer life became and if you suffered the fox mines pre-auto play.
For the censorship part, they are going the other way to Girls Frontline. In GFL you need to unlock the lewd mode via a certain hidden formula, while in AL the art is completely different depending on which region you are playing, with the CN and KR version is more covered up, though I have to admit I like some of the CN art better because I often like costume porn more than bare skin. There is one exception, the EN version actually got the censored (JP) version of Indianapolis, which removes the nuke symbol and replaced with cat's paw. Also another bad thing is that chapter 13-14 is a total Guide Dang It! Even Chapter 11 which will get you burned, literally that is, if you don't put extinguisher on everyone.
While you're spot on for that Guide Dang It! part, I find it VERY fulfilling when you're strong enough that you can eventually turn that very demanding map into the ultimate exp farm. Currently running 14-4 for PR exp while also levelling up a few 110 ships on the mob fleet. It feels awesome. Would be more awesome if New Orleans finally drops though arggh....
Othdr random minor censorship in Global is in Belfast and Fubuki's Pizza Hut skins where in global any reference to Pizza Hut in the boards was removed
Been on JP server since launch, and Im still logged in almost 12 hrs a day on emulator. Spent way more on skins than all my other gachas combined and never felt pressured to do it. First and favorite gacha.
Yup couldnt agree more with ya the game is really good and cultured from a day 1 player view the game came quite farm. Also its the only gacha game where i want to spend and dont mind buying the montly or cruisepass. I really hope AL can get the jump into the FGO realm and become big having a long and succesful lifespan =w= Oohh and funny sidenote it gets way way more grindy with lategame stuff and OPS ;)
@@Stixxy Yeah it can but no need to worry really there isnt any FOMO ya can get all the stuff in time ;) OPS = Operation Siren fun mode PR research grinding ships out no need for Gacha some of the most powerful ships excliding some UR's. Also later on chapter 10/ lvl 90+ ya will onlock some other fun stuff to mess around and grind~ At the end play at ya own pace and enjoy the cultured content no need to rush anythign expect events but... thats everywhere xD
Azur Lane already has a long and successful lifespan. It just turned 5 year old last May and it's still going strong. Only a few gacha games last that long and most last 1 - 2 years. 3 or 4 years at most if it's moderately successful. Azur Lane isn't a huge cash cow like FGO or Genshin Impact because of its monetization which is mainly character skins (its biggest revenue), some packages, upgrading your dorm and adding port space which are very affordable even for casual players. The gacha is basically free and doesn't consume premium currency (gems) like majority of gacha games. Plus the pull rates are insanely high and they award you with a lot free stuff.
@@bumbayker As if ya could read my mind xD Same thoughts here i wanna see a 1 before that 5 in 10 years haha. True but that's exactly why im a little worried that they arent a cash cow like FGO or Genshin but they have a very happy and loyal player base and in general not much to complain about. My persona conspiracy is that we might get a AL 2 later down the track with much more imprvied stuff in general but that can just be a dream =w= I just wish and hope AL can pierce through the next stage and grow even more giving us a lot more cultured content and alike~
@@Stixxy I’m a veteran of over 3.5 years and when I started playing I was very casual, maybe 1 hour a day. But around 2.5 years ago I started spending more and more time playing. Back in my day I was clearing most content with common and rates shipfus and only lving shipfus I cared about or loved. I cleared w12 on release with 4 common shipfus and 3 DDs. And the gear available back then was far weaker in most cases, there were no cats, no subs, no DD buffs, and iirc safe mode was still new. I cleared w13 using the 3 weakest shipfus ingame ever, the bulins. I’m an insane motherfucker in some ppls eyes. I’ve probably played AL 5k+ hours and I still have 100s of shipfus to max lv, gear to grind, and achievements to complete. U’ve only just barely reached midgame so If u play long enuf to reach late game or even end game u will understand how grindy AL truly becomes. Grinding SSR gear is a long process. SSR gear usually has a 1-3% drop rate on bosses and siren if any, but don’t drop on other enemies. So depending on the map it can be 1-8% chance to get 1 BP for the gear per run. A couple months ago there was an event with an SSR gear that was most certainly worth grinding for. I had estimated I did around 300++ runs and got 3 full copies of the gear, which is 45 BPs total. And on auto farm it was something like 7mins per run. Also u shud note that using auto combat in the endgame is a deathwish. The AI is so incompetent that even if u r trash at manual play u will still survive longer and do more dmg than on auto. In AL auto combat only exists to make grinding not painful, and instead a passive thing u do in the background. I tend to do most of my grinding at 11-1 nowadays for the max efficiency of exp:oil ratio. I cud get more exp:time if I grinded 12-4 but I wud loose out on total exp cuz I got only so much oil to spend and I don’t want to spend money on oil if I don’t have to. I’ve only gotten 189 lv120+ shipfus so far. And that’s not too bad after 3.5 years. Still 400++ more shipfus yet to go lv up.
The Greatest Azur Lane coincidence is that during the first day of the Northern Parliament event... The Russian Federation ALSO started an event which is you already know by now 😏 (Oh yeah, Northern Parliament is a Azur Lane version of the Soviet navy)
Been playing AL for 4 years now….well 3 and 1\2 years now due to my OG account was made during 2018 and then lost when my tablet broke then my 2019 acc is now my main one as back then I was new to Account binding[I USED TO HAVE UNICORN’S FIRST EVER SKIN BACK THEN I SHOULD HAVE BOUND MY OG ACC BEFORE MY TABLET BROKE!] so I basically lost all progress and start over again and now……I have 60%+ collection rate and has been through many events and got most of the ships from said events and barely missing any events unless I’m burntout or there was nothing currently new to the game and currently on my way to getting the current event profile frame……that is If I get Roma……welp this is now somewhat drawn out so Imma get to the main point. AL is the best F2P gacha game that consistently fucks over the CCP’s anti waifu rule to the point that they even included an R18 secret in one of the event skins rn(Hint:Da Vinci’s skirt] and is practically giving away the P2P currency when there is even a slight mistake/server maintenance and gives away Wisdom cubes like there’s no tomorrow and even advices player not to spend their gems to skip missions in the Cruise pass to advance their levels not only that the rewards for completing a campaign stage with 3 stars gives you 50 gems for the first three stages then 100 for the final one(currently there are 14 chapters so 14x150 is 2100 gems and then add the 4th stages which is 14x100 is ofc 1.4K gems combine both 3.5k gems which is kinda hard considering you have to do all 14 chapters with 3 stars…..)and allows you to get on the same level with P2P players if you just well….,grind enough which is also the only gripe I have with the game…..the grind is a double edged sword for AL as it allows you to get on the same level to everyone else but is tedious to do and as someone currently trying to get 1.2k gems via the campaign and currently on chaoter 13 stage 13-3……the grind is a painful thing to do…..the only other gripe I have is how annoying and broken the ambush system works……YOU CAN LITERALLY HAVE A 100% CHANCE OF AVOIDING THE DAMN THING AND STILL FAIL WTF IS WRONG WITH THE AMBUSH SYSTEM
As a gacha player who played fgo as my first gacha game, I've never felt this much generosity when I walked in to Azur Lane, it feels like you've escaped from a communist country.
Started playing a month or two after launch. After 4 years and 2 or 3 other gacha games azure lane is still the only gacha game that I (1 still play almost daily and (2 willingly spend money on. I just love how forgiving, how much free stuff and of course the cute animations. Yostar have done well with this game compared to the other gacha games ive played
I think AL has enough game/waifu ratio to satisfy me lol. Always feel like building to collect all the elite, SR, and UR ships, and enjoy working on them/getting new skins whenever I can. I was a late newcomer starting at the UVH event early this year but I've logged in almost every day since, and gotten all the banner ships so far with a select few exceptions(sadly). I want a shimakaze and NJ rerun!
The game is really fun to play. Played it for about 2 years... the reason I have stopped is limited dock space for chara, weapons etc. I hate gacha games that don't let me get full roster without paying to be able to hold more waifus. As if gacha wasn't enough.
Azur lane is pretty chill with the auto combat system, not to mention they're giving lots of cubes in daily rewards for pulling. Auto clear is also added to commissions. Literally spending 5 minutes in the game (siren campaign not included) but still getting satisfying rewards.
Is Azur Lane a worst gacha ever? No. It is good as an collectible game and is "kinda" f2p friendly. Does Azur Lane have a worst gameplay ever tho? Yes. As a game Azur Lane is beyond trash and is probably a worst game (including mobile trash games) i ever played.
Me: watching this while grinding my PR 5 ships on 12- 4. Yea the downside is just too much grinding i kinda wish they have offline farm like artery gear. (4 yrs player here, old school gacha game are hard to quit imo🤣)
Ive tried this game out a couple of times hopong to like it, but other than the characters being breathtaking ......i just cant find reason to play or enjoy it, glad that others have been able to find enjoyment in it and kept the game alive though
I love how easy this game is, to the point that literally anything you use can work as long as you have good/okay equipment and enough levels. Most top-tier equipments are hard to get but with enough work and dedication you can get your hands on them. And the fact that there's lots of good placeholder equipments is also one of the reason why this game is do good. I love Azur Lane 💝
A word of advice to make the game easier is to swap the "main" fleet in the settings when you auto battle, setting your second fleet to battle as much as possible first and then sending in the main fleet to wipe a map is an option, and with your second fleet being much lower level, it might be a good option as this will increase their XP gain. This does decrease their mood significantly though so if you do more than a dozen auto runs a day they will become angry and no one likes angry waifus, and being angry decreases their XP gain a lot. Another big thing is putting fleets in the right order, generally the tanky ships go on the sides and the squishy ones in the middle. This protects the squishy damage dealers in the middle and your tanks which generally do less damage should die sooner which depending on the ship that died, might increase the speed of the fleet as heavy cruisers are generally pretty slow compared to destroyers and light cruisers. - sincerely, a history nerd that also likes waifus :)
stoped azur lane 2020 cause moving ships takes up too much time, miss shimano event but i went back when new jersey was out. when i found out they got auto move after cleared stage i was happy to be back. hope they add auto repeat LOOP so i wont need to use emulator macro commands to click anything. used quick touch for android but it got buggy every time i off and on my phone so now i dont have macro commands on android phone.
in my opinion, Azur Lane is a game that I can play even when doing something else while being super f2p friendly. I'm playing for almost 2 yrs and I got 93% character completion rate while playing as optimal as I can get and do long grinds during weeksdays for PR ships, all and all its one of the best gacha games I have played and I'm happy that this is my first gacha game
I mean dock expansion does limit how many ships can be obtained and or built, without spending money on gems. That and the fact Azur Lane is a rather large app, even without updating all the voice lines and extra details which require even more storage on your device. Might think better of it, if and when I figure out what is the best emulator for it on the pc.

Wasn’t that for the Chinese version only though? Not Global?
@@Stixxy Thus the In China part. But yeah.
one of the CCP's excuse was "to conserve Japanese cultural appropriation" or something alone the lines like that
I remember when that happened. At least those who already got those ships before the ban happened get to keep them but unfortunately new players will never get them (if they play Chinese version).
@@erichvondonitz5325 you mean the PRC
in my opinion, even though the combat itself may be bland, the equipment system is very interesting and diverse such as different guns having different ammo type and range as well as different torpedoes, auxilary gears and aa guns.
Absolutely even fleet composition is super fun like stacking a shit ton of CVs or having a wall of torpedoes through DDS and CLs

RIP that anime though, so much wasted potential, even if I don't hate what we got out of it.
Yeah, I like the auto feature. The story is bland but some of it is okay. I do agree on that a lot of the ships have similar personalities.
Wrong Dumbass Genshin Impact is the Best Gatcha Out There 💯👌
@@hungnao282 yeah the main story line is pretty blank and I just skipped through it without a second thought but if you want to dive well deep into the lore of azur lane then I suggest going to Op.
@@geraalcht You should check out PGR! Quite generous for free to plays and the combat is pretty cool :)
The meat of the story and where all the good stuff is comes with all the events that they release. Rondo at Rainbows End had some of the biggest lore dumps and story moments we've ever seen.
What do YOU think of Azur Lane?
I played a lot of new gacha games but I still come back to AL bcuz its generous and you can max your shipgirls very quickly.
AL is bad , I play it everyday

The best gacha i ever played. Never felt pressured bout anything yet still has really nice ingame progression and the feeling of accomplishment it gives you.
The big thing about teambuilding and clearing stuff is this:
Outside of w12+, just get your waifus some more levels and try again.
@@randomyoutubecommentersecu7639 Yes....which means that in w12 you can't just go "Oh, i'll just use whatever and if it doesn't work, get them some more levels."
Which was my point.
@@Azzaciel Used to be the case but I think you can just overlevel with lv125 nowadays
Azure Lane has been getting pretty deep in the lore lately, especially since it borrows so heavily from our own history.
Other than these 2 things, there isn't a strong need to pay for anything... except well... costumes :D
Been playing AL for years now. Keeps me coming back. Plenty of stuff to do. Also very generous rates and resource collection. High recommendation.
Played Azur Lane for over 3 years at this point, absolutely love the game and the devs
Grinding for me is kinda the whole point of azur lane. It’s great, I remember finally maxing out fdg feels good man
It’s fine if you just put random ship together. As a commander lvl 125, I do that too. End game in AL are getting resources and lvl up as much ships to 120 as possible. Majority of the ship when get to 120 will give permanent stats to other ships of the same type. So my daily routine are just lvling ships to 120 and then repeat.
QUICK! Who's your favorite Azur Lane Waifu?!
New Jersey no cap
Taihou
Prinz Eugen. She introduced AL to me through her artwork. And now I have like 500+ waifu in my dock.😆
Le Malin maybe, lot of choices
Prinze Eugene is the best
Even more so as a creator!
Just got into AL earlier this year and it's probably gonna take me forever to get to PR5 lol ... very grindy indeed but it has some charm that makes me willingly open my wallet and spend on the gems for those skins and be satisfied with ...
you can skip to go pr5 immediately but you the prints are still hard to grind
As someone who has played AL for 3 years, I think that your opinions are pretty spot on.
Azur Lane is a game that look very simple, but when you look into it, it's surprisingly deep...
Operation Siren
The meta is deffinitelly needed if you want to farm higher chapters. And that's deffinitelly not simple.
Not if you do cube Research lol
Just saw Asmon reacting to your Nikke video and had to check out if you made one on my fav Azur Lane and sure enough here we are
Also, gotta say, love the concept overall.
Genshin was my first gacha game
Lost quite the amount of money...
Luckily I found this and noticed I lost alot less money per month
Thankfully I found this game and able to keep a large amount of cubes over 120 at all times only issue issue for me is coins to few for to to much cubes always able to get UR's and SR's on each event since it doesn't screw you out like genshin impact and make drop rates lower then 1%
I'd say some gacha are fair to us and the dev but AL is so far towards players vets are expected to have all relevant ships.
Well at least I would rather pay for sth I know I will get which is dock space instead of pay to gambling.
While im pretty sure gfl was the first gacha game I really "played", azur lane is the first gacha that I really stuck with
I can understand why.
To me Azur lane is the best gacha game,
There is also a game mode that you unlock later in the game that is also very interesting and keeps things new and refreshing and you Don’t have to play stages over again! Operation Siren is also really good and it can also (sometimes) be pretty tough! And i like that and instead of having two teams you have four on a big map.
Its really good
Heya so some tips, I get you said you play casually but I feel these will help regardless of casual or more "hardcore"
1) didn't see it in you "daily routine" but make sure to do exercises, sure PvP is pretty bland in the game and high chance to lose but gives a currency that is good for getting some ships.
Watching this while reinstalling Azur Lane! Took an almost 1 year break and always craving to play each day
Ouch... That 1yr hiatus made you miss out on some pretty good ships.
You get upwards of 200-250 cubes per month (thats 100-125 event banner rolls / 200 light banner rolls)
Ultra rares only release 4 times per year and 400 cubes guarantee at least 1.
0:26 And that's why people, Stix add QUESTION MARK in the title series
I played Azur lane because of the SSSS.Gridman collab. luckily enough, I was able to get all of the Gridman waifus and already maxed them out. unfortunately, I don't have any of the skins since I'm F2P and the gems have to go to summoning them all.
No, don't use gems for summoning, I beg you
azur lane could be a really...."good" game well for gacha standards if it weren't for its consistent biased nature and unbalanced sharing.
For me: i pull for fallen, brave and my fav unit banner. Other banners are fodder for my fav units🤣
And that's bullshit!
its funny how the first time me playing this game i was like, damn another boring ass gatcha
then years has passed, i gave it another try but not tried to at least go to mid game and started to appreciate the side about this game where youre fine with not even drop a single coin, also the equipment system being pretty deep and such
Been playing Azur Lane since about a month after it came out on ENG servers, I'm almost entirely free to play and casual and I'm almost always able to get all the limited edition ships and unique items during events.
Don't you dare put that magic on me. With the new event coming out soon for azur Lane I need all the rng I can get hahaha
LMAO! I’m sorry!
Man I tried this game but the battle system I just couldn't stand. Too cartoony and arcade like
Azur Lane is the only gacha game I play.
Want the best waifus play Azur Lane. If you want godly combat play PGR. Or be the GOAT and play both. Please play both lol
And for fun on the side: Arknights.
@@Stixxy I've yet to actually play that one but I'm good until WutheringWaves drops
im playing both tho (im new on pgr about 2weeks old player) and that 2 games are the only game existing in my phone lol but i think i'll play arknights again once ling drop this upcoming week.
@@AdrIan-zq2ky I've been playing PGR and Azur Lane for like 2 months now
@@lycanshithrope6956 i play azur about 1 and half+ year and still enjoying the game and i hope that's the case for you too.
I think you missed the fact that you can "quick level" using exp books instead of constant grind
i dont know, i didn't see the whole generous gacha system. i struggled so dam hard in this game that i gave up three times so far. but i guess they get credit for making me come back every now and then.
This. .
I’m level 140 and god I remember those days
I really hope AL can get the jump into the FGO realm and become big having a long and succesful lifespan =w=
Oohh and funny sidenote it gets way way more grindy with lategame stuff and OPS ;)
Having played it for a few months.. I couldn’t imagine it being even grindier! Haha
@@Stixxy Yeah it can but no need to worry really there isnt any FOMO ya can get all the stuff in time ;)
OPS = Operation Siren fun mode
PR research grinding ships out no need for Gacha some of the most powerful ships excliding some UR's.
Also later on chapter 10/ lvl 90+ ya will onlock some other fun stuff to mess around and grind~
At the end play at ya own pace and enjoy the cultured content no need to rush anythign expect events but... thats everywhere xD
@@bumbayker As if ya could read my mind xD
Same thoughts here i wanna see a 1 before that 5 in 10 years haha. True but that's exactly why im a little worried that they arent a cash cow like FGO or Genshin but they have a very happy and loyal player base and in general not much to complain about. My persona conspiracy is that we might get a AL 2 later down the track with much more imprvied stuff in general but that can just be a dream =w=
I just wish and hope AL can pierce through the next stage and grow even more giving us a lot more cultured content and alike~
The Russian Federation ALSO started an event which is you already know by now 😏
(Oh yeah, Northern Parliament is a Azur Lane version of the Soviet navy)
I love Azur Lane and playing it every day since over 2 years at this point. There is little to nothing over which I could complain in this game.
Azur lane is pretty chill with the auto combat system, not to mention they're giving lots of cubes in daily rewards for pulling. Auto clear is also added to commissions. Literally spending 5 minutes in the game (siren campaign not included) but still getting satisfying rewards.
One of the best things about this game is that even low rarity waifus are not entirely useless.
Me: watching this while grinding my PR 5 ships on 12-
4. Yea the downside is just too much grinding i kinda wish they have offline farm like artery gear.
(4 yrs player here, old school gacha game are hard to quit imo🤣)
Ive tried this game out a couple of times hopong to like it, but other than the characters being breathtaking ......i just cant find reason to play or enjoy it, glad that others have been able to find enjoyment in it and kept the game alive though
its quite boring if your fleet is weak.
It’s boring as shit
Wait there's auto click 9n phone. Where in the hell im living not knowing this thing
in my opinion, Azur Lane is a game that I can play even when doing something else while being super f2p friendly. I'm playing for almost 2 yrs and I got 93% character completion rate while playing as optimal as I can get and do long grinds during weeksdays for PR ships, all and all its one of the best gacha games I have played and I'm happy that this is my first gacha game
As an og I can say this game is so good and fun and great devs
My biggest gripes is the gem requirement for dock space and the lack of auto repeat
Fair nuff
I mean dock expansion does limit how many ships can be obtained and or built, without spending money on gems.
That and the fact Azur Lane is a rather large app, even without updating all the voice lines and extra details which require even more storage on your device.
Might think better of it, if and when I figure out what is the best emulator for it on the pc.
