BARNES SCHOOL & JUNIOR COLLEGE, DEOLALI, MAHARASHTRA.

A beautiful Hill Station in Maharashtra. known for it's greenery & scenic locales, set amongst the Sahyadri
Hills. It was a British Army Camp 100 miles North East of
Mumbai. It is about 17 kms from Nashik.
Barnes School was once a place for Anglo-Indian boys & girls who were given a sound education & upbringing
at Barnes Boarding School.

I attended St Peter's School in Mumbai. Barnes and Peters were closely related. I went to Barnes for the Anglo Indian football cup for three years in a row. Mr. Baker was heading Barnes. As a boarder from Peters Mumbai, I was very impressed with the super big campus, the temple on the hill and the little forest like patch within the school. Two things we enjoyed during our cup visit, the game itself..and the social and dance with the girls from Barnes. Even in the early 90s both these schools had many Anglos(like many siblings too) in them. Now I guess they have all moved abroad. Like Louis Armstrong sang...what a wonderful world!!

Wow, I did not know that Deolali was real, I always thought it was a fictitious place they made up for the series "It Ain't Half Hot Mum"
