Nice to see you working on your own one for a change - looking nice pal - very nice FYI nothing full about watching masking tape being removed from a Narrowboat.
cheers mate. yes its about time i done my own boat. masking tape peeling is quite boring. still doesn't matter not many people see it lol..it is hard trying to make this stuff interesting. i have some ideas to try n give my channel a boot up the jacksie and be more fun. coming soon. take care matey
tes your right it can be used on anything with the correct paint or even varnish. the skate tape is not the answer as you say. doorsteps and ladder rungs spring to mind. Thanks for watching ss
made it look easy, the green gloss paint you used for the gunwales, is it the same green gloss as the rest of your boat or does it go a different shade with the sand on?
It is easy mate. That was the same gloss as the boat although it was a new tin, different batch, onto old paint. It does change the shade a bit with the sand but it looks great.
@@DoItWithPaulie Thanks Paul, redoing an entire widebeam and the roof was all rust and other large areas: th-cam.com/video/rsd-7IjTzTI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1S3Zq9-dVj_fLY44
Hi Gary. On your gunwales if your paint is ok just scrape it back tape it up and go over it again. If it all has to come off,a grinder with sanding fibre disc should work,or a wire wheel in the grinder, for decks and big flat areas such as decks and roofs hire a scabbler machine. Also look at a tercoo head for a drill, they look like they work well but slow going and hard on ya drill. Here is one amzn.to/3ZMP3oo Cheers mate hope that helps
How coarse is the sand? It looks like fine/sugar sand on camera. I'm pretty sure they use recycled/shredded rubber bits on dog agility contacts, but that's so it's not as abrasive on their paws, but I'm sure that's more expensive than your generic DIY store sand.
@@DoItWithPaulie That's the type of sand we had in New Jersey (where I grew up - they call it sugar sand). The sand here in Massachusetts tends to be coarser and darker in color. I've been on beaches in New Zealand that were all polished stones and others that were all made out of shells... so it all depends on where it comes from, I guess. 🙂
hehe yes i am still here. me and Mrs Narrowboathands have been busy working on the mother ship and then we went camping in our tent to Scotland. My first time away from the yard in years. How are you Bill?
These are great vlogs geezer, much appreciated 👍 im doing mine now, just got roof in primer gunnels to be done, this has helped loads!
Thanks Chris. i'm glad it helped.
Just sanded my roof. I got the sand from the step of York. Great vlog.
NBH I have watched all your videos and find them so instructional, thank you

Really liked this one 👍 good flow, high energy, really informative and useful. Great work man, she’s lookin crisp
Cheers mate much appreciated.🙌🙌🙌
That looks amazing Paul and so neat and a proper nice job well done you 👍
Thanks for watching Gillian
So simple! And applicable to anything really. If it wears, you can repaint, where grip tape will degrade over time and the adhesive will fail...!

I use sandblast sand.. werry grippy... the sekond layer of paint thind ..
it certainly is better than the skateboard tape, well done for doing it properly and thanks for watching, much appreciated
Nice one, I assume I can use same process for touching up small areas that are damaged?
Hi mate. Yes it would work for repairing I expect. As long as it’s clean and degreased so paint sticks. Cheers

any tips on how to remove old non skid / grit paint?

not sure on grade. its just a fine dried sand used for paving gaps. it gives the perfect finish for our boats slippery bits
Thinking about it i suppose it is as course as sugar
