It only took about 2 hours to cut the 200-foot trench. It took about 20 minutes of digging by hand after that to finish the last couple of feet near the barn where we couldn't get the trencher. Two things that helped were that we have sandy soil that tends to be pretty easy to dig through, and we don't have many rocks below the surface. If your soil is harder and has lots of rocks below the surface, your dig time could be a lot longer. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
@@JeremyTVOK Thanks for the video! I live about 15 miles from the coast in south Texas. We don't have any rocks so that should not be a problem. I need to dig about 350 feet and was trying to figure out if I could get a way with the 4 hour rental vs a full day rental. Thanks again!
how much do those rent for? i need to dig a trench to run power to my barn also. it's only like 65 feet, but i don't want to dig it by hand. i thought about using 1 ripper on the box blade and seeing how that does to get it started, but the trencher would obviously be way better. i also need to put in a french drain to get water away from the lean to. so many things on my to do list.
Seems like it’s around $300. Not cheap at all but still better than digging it by hand. I know what you mean about the to do list. I’ll probably never be done with mine.
Ha! I think we might have pulled one rock out of the 225 feet or so of trenches we dug. Growing up, we couldn’t dig 3 feet at more than 6 inches deep without hitting rock. Here in this sandy soil, we don’t run across too many rocks. The project seems never-ending but it’s coming along. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
