- We're back in my old EH for another adventure! But, life is full of surprises.
This car made it through across Australia with no problem, but now guess what?? It broke down!
We are stranded beside the road. How do we overcome this challenge?
Would you like to see how will our journey continue??
Stay with us and we'll show you in our next video!

Not many years ago you would have found every part for engine at the local dump …choose 186 , 179 …just take your pick . I can hear the engine note , the sound the door makes when it closes ….i recon I can smell the Holden interior . I can still vaguely remember our 2nd hand green HD arrive home in 1969 ..we thought we had it made !! 186 with this flash 2 speed automatic, with disc brakes on the front ….even had these weird things called seat belts …..we were flash !!!
yeah, I reckon you'll find a couple of teeth missing off the timing gear ( that drives the cam ). Not really a big deal, done a few myself. Yu can leave the engine in the car, pull the radiator outta the way, get the balancer pulley off ( use a proper puller), take off the timing cover remove the offending gear. You were LUCKY that DID'NT happen when you were out near Telfer !!! Another entertaining vid men....
good luck fellas, just keep the old gal going. it puts a smile on my face to see another eh travelling across oz
Good to see you back with dad & the EH, looking forward to more adventures.
Just awesome fellas. Classic Aussie humour.
Good to see you n the Ole boy back on the road in the EH, pity about the break down but you got it sorted. Can’t wait to see her going again 🍺🍺🤙🏽
Hopefully will be back on the road in no time. Thanks mate
Good to see you guys back enjoy the no nonsense approach!
I appreciate that. I hope I can find time to film a lot more in 2025
Spent a few enjoyable days at the Hilton in Gowan a fair few years ago, before tourists discovered the delights. Stubbies where $3.00 and you got a ticket in the Poker board which was over a $1000.:only raffle I did not want to win after only two nights when all the locals had an invested interest. I remember that everyone was only addressed by their first name or Knick name. I was not foolish enough to enquire further. Only one Gazetted road in the area with the rest tracks the locals had made. Most drove unregistered vehicles on them because they could. Best sign I saw at a fork in the road was, “ Cars with brakes give way” Probably for safety reasons still there. The Vets had just completed a great memorial for those lost in the Vietnam War.. It was a humble and inspiring visit to pay my respects.
Distributor not spinning, the most common reason and first thing to check is a stripped camshaft gear. Undo the oil filler cap and if possible see if the rockers are moving when the motor is cranked over on the starter. Oil pressure light not going out when cranked on the starter, as the oil pump is driven by the camshaft, would be another indicator.
Don't watch the video to the end in full to find out if this was right or the problem was left unresolved.
Good one boys reminds of father he 2 eh Holden's he reckons the best car ever made
Cam timing gear, easy fix, Eh nice motor vehicle, and yes I'm a motor mechanic.
There would be a good chance of parts for eh at lightning Ridge. Shame about car they built them tough shell be back on road. Make sure u go check out pub in the scrub and grawin plenty good people up the Ridge. Safe travels
GM will have plenty of spare parts for the EH.
Ya Right that Great Northern is PISS.
😂😂😅
Easy fix she will go again
Sort the ol' girl from the radiator back to the diff - the engine was using copious amounts of oil previously. New rear springs would help. It's painful & costly to break down in the bush ..
But stick with it .. I've had my E.H. for 43 years - would not part with it ..
Yeah the old girl needs some love. Those rear springs definitely need to be changed. I fixed a few leaks before this trip but it seems to be spitting oil out of the cap. I think I’m going to pull the engine out to get right around it and tidy it up.
@@summa-daze When you doing the engine rebuild - do the clutch & pressure plate & thrust bearing .. Do everything - It'll cost $$$ but well worth it for what you have started on here ..
No dizzy,timing gearis stripped
Stick with the Defender.
Dam I've been looking for an EH for ages.
Good on you guys keep it up
Thanks mate
