      Luckily everything I do now is online. Distance is not an issue. The time zones may be. We meet at 4pm eastern. Feel free to join me. Go to cindigayrughooking.com to learn about the next event. Right now they happen several times a week.

    I'm a handweaver. I can't wrap my mind around a plain weave having a right side and a wrong side. If it's a balanced plain weave, they're the same--unless it has something to do with some kind of finishing of the wool (like brushing)

      I don't fuss with the right and wrong side of wool. I only mentioned it so rug hookers are aware of it, but with the style of hooking we do today, we like variety. The right or wrong side only mattered when rug hookers were trying to duplicate the look of manufactured rugs. I'm not sure I would have noticed the difference even back then.

    I wanted to say to a of the people in the chat do whatever you like because when they use to do wool hooking they used whatever they had and did what ever they felt

      I agree, but you first need to learn what makes a good finish, THEN make your choice, Inside the Basics course, I have a section on all types of finishes..

    W do you hold the yarn with your left hand

    • @rughooking
      @rughooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure of your question.... Do I hold the yarn with the left hand? Yes. Why do I hold the yard with the left hand? You use your left hand to feed the wool strip or yarn to the hook. If you do not hold the tension, it is harder to pull the loop up.

      @@rughooking I am sorry, I meant how do you hold the yarn in your left hand. I watched your video and you seem to hold it between your first and second finger.

      @rughooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marshajorgenson808 it depends on the direction I am Hooking. I hold it one way for right to left and bottom up and a different was when I go in the opposite direction. Just don’t move the wool strip. Let the hook pick it up. Hold it close to the backing..

    What is the material that you use?

    • @rughooking
      @rughooking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean what material am I using for the strips..... I prefer 100% wool fabric woven specifically for rug hooking.

    Does anyone show how to actually hook? Like, what your hands do?? Every video I've seen is lots of talking and no showing.

      I have videos where I hook through window screening and it shows what both hands are doing, but everyone does it slightly different. Those videos are inside the Rug Hooking Journey membership at howtorughook.com/trhj. Check out the lesson in the Basics course called Pulling Loops.
