Late to the party, but for anyone coming across this. Used this setup (different frame but same weapons) and mostly the same run. After some nerfs you’re not going to get the same damage combo on the boss so be prepared to adapt. Also, on the way I took out any larger mechs I came across, and more importantly, took out the two ‘hidden’ data log tetrapods. This last detail seems to be what put me over the edge from constant A’s to an S. I did take the resupply as well though I did not really need it. Used 0 healthpacks otherwise. This was one of the more confusing to figure out what it wanted for S but it does seem like taking more time but getting the tetrapods did prove beneficial.
Tried several other youtubers builds and strategies but this one worked for me. Took me a couple of tries to get the timing right. Also I used pulse armour at the boss to minimise damage and got me over the line. Net pay was 275k to earn an S rank
I went with a very similar setup, only I had the pile bunker instead of the lance. I made a lot of attempts and always got an A. what put me over the threshold for the S were two specific things: - defeating some of the bigger enemies on the way; - NOT taking the resupply (I started taking it after I started killing more enemies because I would lose at least 1 health bar). I ended the S rank run like this: repair costs: 20706 ammunition costs: 24250 details: generic weaponry destroyed: 1600 light MTs destroyed: 46400 heavy MTs destroyed: 123200 ACs destroyed (MAD STOMP): 30000 special heavy craft destroyed (the boss): 60000 I had half AP and 2 heals left when I finished. important detail: two of the bigger enemies that can help you get the S rank are the two tetrapods just above the area right after MAD STOMP. I would go at them like this: double songbirds shots from close range, then immediately quick boost into charged pile bunker. if you see you can't reach them with the pile bunker as you're about to throw out the hit, remember you can cancel it by quick boosting and try again right away. another detail: I don't know if it was the nerf to songbirds that did this (iirc they got nerfed a bit in 1.03.1?) but usually the boss wouldn't get staggered by the two songbird shots, so I had to follow-up with a kick (with reverse-joints legs) to push him over the ACS limit.
Great guide! One note, to save a bit of time; you can actually shoot the explosive canisters that Carla drops on you (seen hanging from the ceiling at 2:13) and they'll drop on the enemies, melting pretty much all of the little MTs and letting you focus down the tetrapod. You don't need to deal much damage, even a single pellet from the Zimmerman at range will drop them, and you even get a little voice line from Carla praising you.
This build and method helped me get it done. Thank you! I swapped some pieces for the body for additional armor & stability. I sacrificed aim for melee damage. Head: Verrill Core: Mind Alpha Arms: Basho (for melee damage) Legs: Mind Beta
Nice, thanks for making this. I was doing mostly the same thing including spring legs, but I think what was keeping me from the S rank is using gatlings and dual needle launchers- too ammunition costly. Seems obvious now, but bringing a melee weapon makes sense too.
Keep getting A on this and I’ve done it nearly flawlessly with like one hit taken and even faster than this. I’m assuming I need to kill some enemies because I’m only killing the three bosses and literally nothing else. I hate how they give you no info on what’s missing for the S.
Thanks to your build, I finally got an s rank on this mission.

mad stomp is the name of his ac, thank you for the guide

It's all about speed.
Got my S rank with two shotguns, and two birdsongs. Repair cost 6K, Ammo cost 40K.
can't tell you how much i appreciate this guide, there's no way i would have gotten this without your help. tysm!!

621 praise kink confirmed.
you can shoot the explosives on the ceiling and they will fall onto the enemies and you get hidden dialogue

Build and route worked! Took me a few tries but i stuck with it!
on the boss fight doing the opening part is crucial. I mean the doding the back and firing the songbirds. Thanks for the video
great guide! this one worked after many failed attempts using other builds.
Damn, you absolutely melted the cleaner. Great guide!

Very pretty
Legit strats!!!
Love your build !!!
Damn, that might have been even faster if you used your assault armor.

Fourth strategy I've tried and I keep getting A ranks... Last S Rank I need to 100% the game, this mission is giving me a migraine
LOL I think he says MESSED UP
Mad Stomp is his ACs name
I did it exactly like this taking even less damage but I keep getting B ranks
Weird. You stagger it with one volley of songbirdx2 and zim. Mine barely gets it 3/4 of the way...
So no combat logs
I did what you did and got an A
