I think you might be confusing self-intrest and selfishness, and the question you are asking is about the nature of actions, here we have two branches, 1st one suggests that actions originate from self-intrest (ethical egoism) and the other one which suggests that actions could be selfless (altruism), i do feel like i am more on the ethical egoism part, it feels in today's day and age people are becoming disconnected (which is funny because the whole idea of the internet is to connect people), i have this saying of "give and dont expect anything in return" and i truly live by that, what's scary in my life experience is the very low percentage of people that actually care about you, i live life caring about others even putting them above me, the question of why nobody cares about me really bothers me, because it cannot be that im right and everybody else is wrong, anw sorry for the paragraph but the vid came at the right moment😂.
