this is so empty, no gameplay except horses, and the other like 2-3 small things we got already exist or aren't even worth calling acual gameplay.... this is an game pack...I'm so disappointed 😭
And an expansion pack shall expand on the whole game, all this seems to be tied to this one world ...
I feel like they are just trying to give us what we want, but only barely, so the disappointment of the sims 5 (or "project renee", they wont even call it sims 5 cuz it wont be sims anymore) and all the microtransactions wont hurt as much ...

One thing I noticed from the build standpoint is that you can see the ceilings painted, however, if you look at the roof with exposed underside, its still the default. So we may only be able to paint ceilings and not the roof undersides.
That would be such an Sims thing to do😅 hopefully not but I think you are right
Or even worse, they just did it for the trailer and is not an in game thing. Because when they show the building being made they didnt show the ceiling. painted.

make sense, sometimes houses with roof undersides would be just wood or matches with the roof, while the ceil is always paints the same as the walls.
We could hope. I was hoping to be able to paint the roof undersides especially when I do like open roof houses and big A-Frames.
7:43 Geologist here! The formations in the background are called hoodoos! They’re sedimentary rocks that are weathered into that shape by wind or water during erosion, and are seen in large valleys and canyons. Here in the US they’re mostly in the southwest. They take anywhere from thousands to millions of years to form and they’re super cool! I love the attention to detail the Sims team puts into the backdrop!!

I used to do some barrel racing on goof-off days at riding school (I ride English, not western) and it was So Fun. Dressage Sucks, Barrels are Great lol

I noticed in the background of one of the houses, a Native American smudging kit. I wonder if it'll be functional? It would be so nice to be able to smudge the houses with fresh sage or be able to turn sage into sage bundles to fill it. If not, maybe the modding community can make it happen.
it's most likely decorative, considering the blog post didn't mention anything gameplay related in the section about the native american "collab". it sounded very much like decor and clothing. but one can hope !!

Interesting horse fact: most horses are left side dominant which is why their mane falls to the right (the softer side). It’s cool they seemed to have noted that in the game!

Once their manes are long enough, they're braided to the right to train the mane to lay that direction otherwise they go both sides in an uneven manner--truly wild horses have manes that are all over the place. They're also pulled to make the mane even. Guiding on the left, mounting left, etc., is also uniform and part of training for consistency. Sort of, "that's how you do it/it's just done that way." Horses have their strong and their weak side but it's not a universal dominant left side... that's just training.
@@Grando181 Right? Kinda like most humans are right-handed, and cats tend to be left-handed, but you always have exceptions. Consistency is always good to have, though.
@@araplaysgames Well, not exactly (not criticizing, just trying to add education from my background). Horses aren't really dominant either way was what I was trying to say. The mane is literally trained to the right to fall that way while taught to follow/mount/etc from the left but since people do so much from the left, the horses might be stronger to that side because they're not exercised enough with a counter to the right. And a lot of the time, the horse's dominant side matches their main rider/trainer but not always. I usually worked horses 60-40 in the direction that they were weaker in to build strength and mobility and soften them up, and different things if they were prone to spin or buck.
I was training in hopes of qualifying for the olympics before a career-ending injury and my best show horse sadly passed away (colic, not injury). Honestly it's really mostly down to training with sides for the horse and how much time people spend with them and whether they're well balanced. In the wild, it's really mixed but with the behind the scenes videos, they spent a lot of time with ranches and barns so the manes would be trained to the right so that'd apply in game. It'd be really interesting if they did have a few surprise options like culled manes or some that did flip around on both sides but I bet that's difficult with game mechanics! Regardless I'm super excited. Hoping they have an Oldenburg but I doubt it so hopefully something close I can fiddle with.

Honestly, not sure how I feel about this pack just yet. The horses definitely look really good, along with the world and the build/buy items we’ve seen. But I need to see more to form an opinion.
Satchonsims is very critical of EA and the sims 4 especially. His videos on this pack really highlight my feelings on it, if you want to watch someone a little less optimistic than Lilsimsie. He talks about the lack of gameplay actually featured in the videos and all that
what gets me is that it doesn’t look like there are adult goats and sheep. like what’s the point in getting a new animals if it only has 1 life stage

@@aidanziegenhorn6631they’ve said that they’re mini goats and mini sheep, probably because they’re animals like the llamas and cows and only have one life stage. which also means limited gameplay with them.

4. More in-depth look at jumping & barrel racing options
5. Confirmation you can build a barn
6. How ranch hands work
7. You need to clean the barrel for the nectar stomping (and the texture is pretty bad, sadly) - overall closer look at it

11. More animal animations
12. That one sheep was blue - is that a special treat? Does it indicate any special ability?
13. Explanation that your relationship level with the horse affects the speed that you train them/learn horseback riding

as a horse girlie myself, the lack of helmets is kinda upsetting. there are too many stories of people getting preventable injuries if they wore a helmet :/ either way im SOO excited to see you play this update!
Yeah its more "Wild West"-ish where People dont really wear Helmets. But Im certain we get some in CAS.
100% am a living example. I cracked my skull, had a compression fracture in my back, sprained neck , had brain surgery, and caused lots of stress for many while i sat in an icu room for a week. Had to go through physical, occupational, and speech therapy at a rehab for a couple of weeks. Tbh i got so lucky, i was young and healed super well. Nonetheless, definitely would’ve mostly been prevented with a helmet.

I have a feeling nobody's gonna mention this, but pretty wild they added freeze branding into CAS (horses neck at 2:07) which is usually given to wild horses who were "caught" by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) so that can give your horse a fun backstory
it's such a brutal custom 😔 I'm with you though, it's interesting for storytelling
@@recordtapesbackward yeah i was gonna add on saying “…if taking horses away from their homes is your idea of fun storytelling” lmao but i’ve never met someone who’s gotten a horse directly from BLM and its usually horses who have been through it with multiple owners before finding a good home, so THAT could be a nice story- someone second or thirdhand rescuing a wild/tamed horse with aggression issues (aggressive/distrusting traits) and you work together to give it proper training and a good, loving home :))

i’d love it if you only got the branding mark if you rescue a horse as opposed to it being something you can add in CAS. i think it’d add a really cute backstory. i’d also love if rescued horses were maybe a little harder to train to begin with or come with unique traits.
Don't get me wrong, I think the world and the horses look amazing, and its great for representation however I'm sort of 'bored' of the country side aesthetic. I want more cities, and built up areas. Even Growing Together didn't scratch that itch well enough for me. Maybe one day!

As a life time horse girl, I am SUPER impressed by the animations of the horses. They look, move and act like real horses do.
I was thinking that too and so upset when I read all the comments under the Trailer saying it’s not elegant or realistic enough even tho I think they did such a great job
As they should, you can see how mad people are when they are charging 40 dollars for this game pack. I cant imagine how the world will react if they also give us lackluster animation for the horses
@@bosoudang yes that is true. Horses are just hard to capture in any form of animation or art. They have specific mannerisms and ways that they love, so I am impressed by how accurate they’re animated.

While I don't disagree with your last point, it took a lot of resources to bring horses to life. Add in the horse relationship system, the competition system, goats and sheep, and nectar making and you have a Sims 4 expac amount of content.
I'm of the opinion that everything Sims 4 is lacking, but that's the way the franchise is now. Maybe if they'd released this before Growing Together and infants people would be less disappointed lol.
I can’t help but to feel like this should be a game pack, if someone asked me to summarize that gameplay trailer in a sentence i’d say “horses, tiny smelly creatures and some colorful wine”

It's probably an expac because of the level of programming that went into making the horses. I guarantee you it was not cheap. They've probably been working on it in the background for a while.
@@LulaMae21 definitely, but in a consumer's perspective it doesn't matter wheter programming was hard or not or if the animations were challenging (and I don't mean to be rude at all by that, that's just the reality!), what really matters if they deliver an expansion that actually EXPANDS the game in a meaningful way, and considering everything EA has shown us (at least by now) I don't really think that's gonna happen. I do think that TS4 horses will be great and people will have a great time with them, especially those who miss TS3 horses, but AS A SIMMER who's not crazy by them I definitely won't pay $40 dollars for what seems to be a wine-inspired expansion pack with and mini sheep (LMAO I made a huge text// NOTHING AGAINST HORSES, IT'S ONLY AGAINST EA*)))

@@samanthakate2117 cottage living is very recent and the main point of both packs are animals and the interactions sims have with them. don’t get me wrong, this new pack seems great! i love that they heard the sims community’s wishes but i feel like we could’ve gotten something different

I’m excited for this pack… but it should have been a game pack. Really only 3 main gameplay features. Horses, nectar making, and baby goats/sheep.
But the number of new animations, horses alone, grown sims on horses, children on horses, interactions between sims on horses, foals and the small animals and then nectar making as well, plus the size of world and making it traversable on horseback and on top of that all the cas items for horses and sims and build and buy means it had to be an expansion pack, no way all that work would fit in their budget for a game pack.
@@helena_5456 Sure, but the OG wasn’t comparing TS3 to TS4, but an expansion pack to a game pack for the Sims 4, you can’t compare the budget and resources they have for TS4 to what they had for TS3 because it’s from a different time and a completely different game, it’s like saying “But look at what we got in Battlefield!” You may think one is superior and prefer to spend your money on it, but it’s not a straight comparison.
Yeah I mean we got sooo much content in the paranormal pack!! That had an active career and new animations for ghosts and stuff. I love horses and feel like (not to make a pun) I'm being taken for a ride w this pack. If there's not something wildly impressive in the livestream (like maybe the world is huge and mostly open), then I'm only gonna buy on sale - if at all. Feel like I'm being taken advantage of

To be very honest, this is the least excited I've ever been with a TS4 expansion pack. I'm not much into horses, didn't even care for them in TS3, but I was expecting some kind of gameplay besides them? Like, what else do we get? You're not weird for being so excited! I've been dying for a horse expansion since I finally made the switch over to playing Sims 4--and I held out for years because I enjoyed the Sims 3 horses (and unicorns!!) so much.
Oh my goodness, we can have unicorn mods now!!! That would be so fun to play with casters to add to the general magic vibes even if they don't add any game play
This really is the first expansion where nothing speaks to me. Not the animals, not the world, not cas, not the build items, nothing.
Happy for everyone who likes those things though and my wallet will be happy as well.
It's one of the few I'm willing to pay full price for to get it early lol. But I loved horses and nectar making in Sims 3, so there's that.
I think that this pack will be good, even if some of the cas assets are reused its primarly a gameplay pack and hopefully they can deliver on that. im so excited for the cute mini goats and sheep too!
None of the CAS assets are reused. Just because something is similar doesn't mean it's identical. And you haven't even seen all of them in-game yet

It's not just the cas - dancing was a big part of growing together, farm animals came in cottage living and while it's great to have adorable new things, I don't think it's enough for this to be an expansion pack rather than a gamepack

One thing I love about your channel is that you're so positive about a lot of things. Too many Simmer TH-camrs are constantly complaining.
This *gamepack* is shallower than usual. It’s pretty but *pretty shallow.*
Besides horses, there’s is *nothing new* in this pack. We already have juice fizzing, plating grapes and fertilizing, dancing and welcome wagon.
We don’t need a redo of those *upsold for $40.*
Nectar comes from Sims 3. Juice fizzing is the copycat lol.

@@anahenriques.And nectar came with World Adventures. And the occult Sims were either included with other packs or they came all in one $30 pack rather than being separated into a bunch of $20 packs. Cows and chickens (bees too, iirc) were a store purchase. Goats and sheep didn't exist. Etc.
I just drove across the whole Western US and it was really getting me in the mood for this pack! After driving past many ranches and farms, I can confirm that having tons of cars/trailers/RVs scattered around the property is a realistic element 😂

5:00 - we weren't confused, we weren't expecting a live broadcast. "That's all?" was meant to express: where is the rest? It's not enough for an expension pack! Yes, horses are great, but other than that, nothing new! We already have group dancing (get together), drinks like nectar (eco live), small animals on the farm (cottage living), even the world looks like Strangerville. Where is the gameplay? Watching a horse run around in circles is not gameplay. It's a disappointment
Did you ever play with horses in Sims 3? It's way more than "watching a horse run around in circles." Plus it seems your relationship with the horse matters as you train. The amount of resources that went into creating horses probably far outstripped the budget for a game pack.

I've been playing The Sims since... The Sims. I know all the parts, I have complete collections and yet none of them disappointed me as much as Sims4. Horses is not an expansion packs, it's not enough. Game packs? Sure, why not. I work hard for the money they are trying to extort from me and I do not agree to such shallow actions as selling one feature as an expansion packs.
They can spend a trillion dollars on it, it's their business decision. I don't care how much "heart and passion" they put into it. I will not pay for cheap tricks like playing on my conscience. I'm an adult person, not a horse girl with reach parents adn I konw value of my money.
It's not worth it.
@@sera_szewczuklol I've been playing Sims for literally 23 years, back when I was a poor kid who couldn't afford most of the expacs. Yeah, the Sims 4 is lacking compared to earlier versions of the game, which is why it took me years to even buy Sims 4 (and then only on sale). This seems to have about a much as any other Sims 4 pack, which is nowhere near what previous Sims games gave us.
You act like you're the only person with a job that has to work to buy your games. You're not. You don't have to buy this pack, even when it eventually goes on sale, but all the whining is silly.

I'm just stating the facts - horses are not enough content to create an expension pack, all other content is a copy of already available features and is definitely not worth $50 (that's how much it costs in my country).

If it costs $50 in your country, that means $50 in your country equals $40 US. Exchange rates and all.

I think horses take a lot of recourses to make so thats why its an expansion instead of a gamepack
Probably took a lot more resources than a game pack budget, especially with the other stuff in this pack. Plus in Sims 3, all the occults except vampires and mermaids came in one pack for $30 but Sims 4 is charging $20 for each lol.
I am so excited. I can't wait to build an off the grid, simple living farm with Horses, Cows, Chickens, Mini Goats and Mini Sheep.
We didn't see any actual wild horses right? They only talked about rescuing horses from the board... I loved the wild horses in the sims 3

@@alexxxxaaaaa07 English consists of jumping, dressage, equitation, and hunter, while western can include barrel racing, pole bending, roping, trail riding, and reining. Also the saddles and tack are different!
in both trailers it looks like you can make a kind of nectar that will bring a sim back to life.

I like it but it should have been a game pack, the nectar, and goats seem like things that were cut from cottage living, and frankly, horses should have been in cats and dogs, this just feels like a pack of things cut from other packs.
From what I've seen some of the CAS stuff looks like a slightly changed version of other items in-game, but I do really like what I see from build/buy and I do really like the horses, just wish their as more element of the pack to make it seem less like leftovers

I love that this pack goes so perfectly with Cottage Living. I am SO excited to explore with both of them.

I don't get it ... the simmers I like seem to be really pumping this up - do they know something I don't? This is cottage living 2.0 where is the gameplay? This seems very shallow to me. I expect more from an expansion pack especially when you compare this with something like cottage living ... it's just disappointing.
As a former horse girl who got riding lessons but never her own horse I'm really excited my sims get live my dream.
I'm just itching to play this pack tbh. Idc what anyone else says. This pack will be me living vicariously through my sims since I can't ride or perform anymore.

its a gameplay trailer but they didnt show any game play key features thats why example grownig together family dynamics system was shown in the gameplay trailer and get together the club system and in sims 4 vampires gameplay trailer they shown the vampire weakness and powers, they didnt even show the horses traits

the horse expansion pack should have been a game pack. they are just repoducing the same content from other packs and calling that an expansion pack. sheep are just the llama's from cottage living, they bring dancing from the get together pack and the same pet system as cats and dogs plus all of the hairs are just copys from other packs and even the base game
Horses took a lot of work to animate, and most CAS objects are just modifications of previous ones. You can't ride cats or dogs, nor ride them in competition, and miniature sheep are quite a bit smaller than llamas. Plus we've never had goats before.

I like the horses a lot, but they are NOT worth 60 CAD. I could buy The Witcher 3 with money to spare. Or four copies of Stardew Valley. I am once again reminded to never buy sims 4 content unless it's on sale, because dear lord is it overpriced

I’ll get the pack mostly for the build items and new world. Curious to see if the goats do have a functionality or just there to be cute. Goats eat… whatever. They can eat your grass in RL instead of mowing. Very cute to watch and hear them.The horse trailer in the background… a hint we’re getting cars soon?
They aren't for decoration. You can have goat milk and sheep wool. The game description mentioned.

That's all ? no but you're serious, it takes a lot of gameplay to justify this and a lot of activity, sorry but I'm disappointed too, we haven't seen anything more than what we already know. It's really very little, the sims 4 lack gameplay, we're not going to have much more, they just add horses, goats and sheep, it's even emptier than the one in the countryside which was much more complete

I'm excited, mostly for the world. It's cute, and I'd love to have my sims live in a cabin there somewhere. 😅💙
But there isn't any big flashy stuff here, the horses are the only new gameplay we're getting , we have small animals in cottage living and we have juice making in economy lifestyle, I'm happy for people who really wanted horses but to me it's ridiculous thst this is being sold as an expansion pack
This is for sure a game pack at expansion pack price. I'm excited for it and I love the horses, but it is game pack material, that's just the truth. I hope they introduce more when the deep dive comes next week.
A new world, hard-to-animate horses, and nectar making would be a lot for a Sims 4 game pack.
You get nervous bc usually is disappointing. Not gameplay! WHERE is it? A game PACK. Why do they feel the need to steal money? I'm sad.
Things I noticed;
Perhaps the apple nectar is inspiring your sims since their 'minds are blown' with ideas? Also, in an earlier trailer there was a female ghost who drank the nectar and came back to life. So the 'spirits' brought her back. XD
The horses are cute but something abou those big beady eyes just creep me out.. also the fact that Sienna showjumped with a western saddle..just really irks me!!
I rarely comment, but I've got to speak up about how horrible this trailer was at showing us any valuable gameplay footage.
The Sims team did what it does best, which is to show us cute snippets of the horses and animations they've been working on. And that's nice and all, but not worth 40 dollars. It's really lame that they once again have exploited their players' wants and have used them to monetize another animal-themed pack.
If we're being honest with ourselves, this "expansion pack" could've been put into Cats & Dogs, Cottage Living, Strangerville, or even My First Pets Stuff (god knows it needed more content). I know Simsie has been wanting horses for a while, but I feel like as someone who has an audience that looks to her for Sims content, a more honest review would've been nice. I dunno, maybe she is genuinely excited about this pack (and she has a right to, it's her opinion) but I just feel like the pack is incredibly shallow and it's one of those scenarios where these reviews should focus a little less on how nice things look and instead on what gameplay is included + if it's worth the price. The last thing we need is another Island Living situation...
And before anyone says anything about this being a trailer, the whole point of a trailer is to highlight why you should buy the product. The stuff being shown so far was nowhere near worth being deemed an expansion pack. At best, a game pack, but you know EA is too greedy not to mark up the price so they can profit off of this as much as possible.
ALL of the Sims 4 packs are lacking. They literally separated out the occults into $20 packs when they (all but vampires and mermaids, which were part of other expacs) were all part of one $30 pack in Sims 3.
I expect the work to animate the horses exceeded the budget to make it a game pack.
Do you think they’ll ever add middle school kids? We got infants but not middle school kids. It feels less immersive when a child ages to a high schooler.

After I heard about this pack coming out I went and made my boy in the Sims 3! He’s a senior horse with navicular, so he’s not sound for riding. I never knew him in his prime but I can’t wait to live vicariously through my game with him ❤️❤️
let's be honest this is a gamepack. maybe a great one, but not more than that. they're just making money by selling it as an expansion
