Elder Pearson was my mission president 2006-2008. We got talks like this at every Zone Conference; it was amazing.

One of the most difficult things is finding how to enjoy life while being the best Christian we can be every day.

I always hated the words, “hang in there”, when I needed to hold fast to the iron rod to make it through. Those three words sounded so feeble to me, kind of like, “don’t let go”!! That is not faith to me….faith is strong, faith is wise, and faith is sure. I believe in miracles….and I believe we can overcome as we follow the will of God.
I also learned that overcoming our weaknesses is how we gain perfection….I believe that is why we have them. I learned that concept from President David Christensen at BYU Education Week.

I always wondered why Elder Pearson is an authority of the church because he's different from other authorities. I think it's because he's a professional speaker and he's very smart.

what like Not a brain surgeon, or an attorney, or a business leader? Look up who the GA's are. THere is a total rounded network of amazing folks from every imaginable occupation. Astounding to me the skill sets that are in the Red Seats.

He has a unique talent that is very useful to the Lord. I used to study his speeches like he was a living prophet. To be honest, I've never heard more powerful speeches from any other Christian in the entire world.

    Distraction and Deception
Now days we can’t afford any D&D, music, video gaming, sports, work. I’m not saying don’t live, I’m saying live better, that higher law, better music, family games, family support in sports, and a Christ centered attitude at work, live better, a temple centered home.
Stay by the tree, we held the rod now stay by the tree, read the Book of Mormon every day every day every day!

“Hang in there” simply means to keep trying and not give up. I don’t see why it is necessary to demean this phrase. It sounds like a pet peeve. You can make your point without having to condemn others for their phraseology. I guess we now have to strike that phrase from our vocabulary because he doesn’t like it.
