Now I've slowed down and actually play to enjoy every step. I have an unspoken role playing thing inside my head and have backstories for my villagers. I know it sounds weird, but it has been so much fun. Or maybe it's just my pain meds talking lol For beginners, I recommend playing in the Valley first. It kinda shows you what to do without being too "handholdy". Just one persons opinion. But then again, they say an opinion is like an a*&hole, everybody's got one! Enjoyed the video. Would love to see more!
I do the same! I love when you get quests to help a villager’s relationship with another villager, I feel like the town Cupid 💘 I also recommend Valley for new players! Great video, and great recommendations! Just a few things of note: Fast Crafting - Not a big deal to leave on, it really only takes a couple seconds to craft items, and does not heavily impact game play. Perk Cap - Talents are capped at 15 points, but there's a potion that you can craft at the herbalist hut that allows you reset your perk points and reconfigure; so does not limit you in what perks you can purchase. Not a big deal to use 3 perk points on knowledge until you cap that talent.
For those struggling to customize their village, don't forget to have your hammer equipped and "out"-- you can then hover over beds, chests, rafters, walls, etc. and customize by holding select. Also, here are the materials I usually prioritize when starting out (bonus if you can have villagers focus on these): logs, planks, stone, straw, flax, wheat, meat, and leather. Use the Demand Screen, and you can have villagers use sticks and logs for firewood so carpenters can focus on logs and planks (I'll usually build two woodsheds immediately). For mid game, and similar to Skyrim lol, making bronze knives help with earning money. I like building smithing stations outside of mines (keeps bandits and bears out by having a building there too). I love this game- love to see the community growing!!
@@Midgeman You can always end a season whenever you want or when you accomplish everything that you had planned for that season. That way you don't feel the need to rush and can relax and enjoy the experience. After the first year, I find that you shorten the seasons naturally and by year 4 or 5 I have 5 day seasons...
XP gains perks are actually good. You can level up to the max, then get blind drunk on the Potion of Possibilities and spend the points again, skipping the now defunct XP gain perks :) Potion of Possibilities comes from Herbalist Hut 2, or can be found randomly in loot. Might be sold by NPCs, but I never saw one for sale personally, or just haven't paid enough attention.
I don't really think it's a tip, but whatever: you don't have to build wood cutter near trees, hunting lodge near animals, etc. Materials are collected in warehouse anyway. They all start to 'product' at 8 a.m. no matter if they look like they're just going to their workplace. The only exeption are farms. Farmers are gonna physically walk from their homes at 8am to farmland. So it's good to build their houses close to farm.
That’s a great point. Some new players will assume that the workers need access to the resources they’re collecting, when in fact, you’re right! They’ll find them no matter where you place their building 🥳

For example the woodcutter will either sweep or lean against the pole near the entrance if they are not producing. You have to put axes in the chest at the station for them to be able to work. Same goes for tools that go with other professions. The tools also still have durability, so you will have to resupply them with tools yourself in the early game unyil you have someone making tools and putting them in storage. Then I believe they will retrieve what they need from storage.
Don’t rush your village, use the house u spawn it to keep crafting and stock pile items and food. While completing missions from the mission board. Stock pile your money and then start the village

If you are able maintain production for your ppl, you can remove meat as food, and have your hunters get more valuable things like fur and leather. Last tip, in the early game, if your working on getting into farming and need fertilizer. Use the compost bin. Food rots if left in the floor at a 1:1 ratio. In a compost bin, it’s rots at a different ratio. Like meat and cabbage will rot at a 1:4 (meat:rot) ratio. Ea food item will rot at different ratio, like berries will still rot at a 1:1.
The big house in Paistovia has a nice chest you can loot after the homeowners leave in the morning. Just remember to sell to red loot in other towns. It helps you feel better about the abuse Lord Maximus Farquaad throws at you on the first day.
Tip 1: Use your early skillpoints to get the XP boost in order to lvl up faster, and then when you're maxed out, buy/make a potion of possibilities to reset the skill trees. Tip 2: If you're encumbered, you can sprint faster while holding forwards and strafing left/right to run diagonally! ( 👆This is actually historically accurate and not at all a bug. Peasants used to do this all the time back then, if they didn't have access to steeds or wagons. Yep.)

Roasted fish is a great way to earn money. Especially when you unlock the fishing net, makes fishing a nice passive experience if you don’t feel like chasing trout down the stream with a fishing spear 😃
Caught offguard you recommend stone tools, they just break all the time, 'speccialy sickles and pickaxes. Also those 2 have higher extraction rate so I expect it improves productionrate of villagers aswell. But then, I havent done any actual testing and, I RP as the village smithy so do not have this building staffed. Is that then the differance? When automated it doesnt matter what material-tools you make for the villagers? Thanks
Stone tools are recommended for early settlements as they don’t require much resources to create and you can make 20 of them and still have leftover stone and wood! However yes, they do wear quicker than metal tools so when you get access to a lot of metal production, switch to metal tools! I haven’t noticed a difference between tool type and production rate… I’ll have to look into that in a later video! Happy gaming and good luck out there! there are bandits, and they seem to be planning to make more fighting options. Other than bandits, you have boar, bear , wolves and wisents trying to kill you.
The combat has recently been upgraded in their autumn update! It’s much better now, there’s a small learning curve and you will die multiple times until you get upgraded metal weapons/tools. But it’s not impossible! And enemies drop good loot so they’re worth engaging with! Just remember you’ll respawn back at the last place you slept, but you retain all your inventory so that’s an added bonus. Just a few things of note:

The best tip is to extend the seasons to 20+ days as that gives you plenty of time to figure everything out and explore the map ....

That’s a brilliant tip actually, rushing will often lead to bankruptcy and lots of unhappy villagers. Stockpiles people, stockpiles! 🤩

My go to for ages when I first played was pottage, purely because I had so many cabbages, but you're right - vegetable soup is pretty king!
