As you might be able to tell from the Poker Tracker display, these hands were played on Full Tilt Poker before Black Friday took the online poker site down.
The session took place on February 5th, 2011, so let’s just say my understanding of important concepts in Pot Limit Omaha strategy has had the opportunity to evolve.
Looking back at these high stakes poker hands with new understanding feels like a good opportunity to offer some free high stakes strategy content here on TH-cam!
Let me know if you want to see more high stakes PLO (or NL Hold‘em) hand reviews from my poker tracking database full of hand histories with legendary poker pros!
And please also let me know your favorite elite pro you’d like to see a session review of - as a high stakes poker pro for over 17 years I’ve had the opportunity to play at the highest stakes online vs the best in the world (and also at high stakes live, check out my recent high stakes poker session review for more on that!).
After watching, what do you think of 2011 Phil Galfond’s poker strategy? Do you like the way 2023 Phil broke down these high stakes PLO hands?

Great to see you resuming this series. i really enjoyed this one. Would love to see some PLO 6-max. If you're ever able to go back even further and get some replays with the games involving Guy Laliberte then that would be very interesting to see also

This is a fun format - I hope you'll do more videos like this! It's remarkable to see 1) the development in your approach to poker and the effect of solvers; and 2) the intuitive understanding Patrik had for PLO.

Hope to see a nice livestream of a regular six max plo4 cash game. The fact that you talk about your thought during the hand really helps me to get better.

This does bring back a nostalgic time for me. So many names. The 2p2 community. I fell asleep looking for a game with my laptop open on Thursday night and woke up to a iirc, FBI logo on my FT Account. In hindsight with the infamous 10-8 UB call in 100-200 I should have been more strategic with my exposure. My last session was a HU O8 w/ B. Townsend. I guess Howard and the fella from Ireland needed it more than we did, but what a pyrrhic victory. You look good Phil, and you seem to be in a good place, and I’m happy for you.

I think another factor you dont mention enough in reagards to your play style is the fact that its heads up. Maybe thats why you thought it was a good idea to 3bet with J9undercardundercard. Either way I think the only way this becomes a bet is if you have two over cards instead.
Another thought, what do you think about if you change Jd9d37 for Jd9d38? Still a raise or do you call/fold instead? P.S i feel like the backdoor/lowst8 combo w mid pair is a terrible/likely spot if get reraised and if you do youre forced to fold. Although, there could be lot of good turns there are also doom turns where your oppenent has higher flush draws or higher straights. Which becomes increasingly important as the ring grows in size. Heads up you probably get to dodge those doom cards much more often and if they have AA here tons than maybe go for it but pretty much in any case with this hand Im going to want to see a tunr before unloading the clip

How well do you know a lot of these legends you've played for 6 figures with? We all know you and Tom are friends but what about Patrick? Could you call him right now? Would he answer? What about Phill helmuth or Dnegs? HUGE NAMES. What about Doug Polk? Just really curious how tight the HS community is.
