Drumdums Great Work, I'm Rewatching your Hellraiser franchise reviews, you nail it brotha! Great Work 👍👍👍👏 Hey +Cody Leach and Drumdums I create Weekly Skate Vlogs myself, very classic Horror Influenced, the old ways Influenced.. WHENever you guys get a chance, I'd TRULY TRULY appreciate it if you could check out some of my hard work. I Honestly think you'll enjoy and appreciate Them! ThAnk you so MUCH!!! I REALLY appreciate it!!! Keep up the great work both of ya!!!
@@thejoe_snotbombsskateboarding the fx for Angelique pinhead cenobytes and hound in bloodline are amazing if you rewatch this film in 2021 it might just surprise you
Im with Cody, my dad took me to see this in 96. I was 13 and my first horror movie in theaters. And I couldnt remember anything other then the line "PAIN! HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT WORD? I AM PAIN!" Great review Lee. As always!
So happy to watch your review for this movie. I personally liked this as much as 3, maybe a little bit more because unlike 3, this one doesn't have shitty cenobites. Plus, since the backstory of Pinhead had already been done in parts 2 and 3, it was refresthing to see what the back story was for the puzzle box. I personally think that if the original director had had the freedom to make this movie as originally intended, as opposed to this movie being butchered by the studio, this would have been a great ending to the series. You also have to take into consideration that the plot was way too epic for the small budget they had which really shows in the future scenes. All in all, this is one of those movies that I will continue to wish that they will one day release a director's cut/ultimate cut, just like they did with Halloween 6. Great review as always and looking forward to your reviews for the remaining entries in the series. P.S. Of all the Direct to DVD movies in this franchice, you will probably enjoy part 5 (the next one: Inferno) the most because it is directed by Scott Derrickson, the director of Dr. Strange. A piece of advice for enjoying the remaining movies: think of them as spin-offs in the same universe.:)
Great review!!! I actually hated this film when I first saw it and it was one of the first Hellraiser films that I saw as a kid; however, I've watched it over time and I've actually grown to enjoy this movie. It's better then some of the later films.
OMG idk if u remember but a couple of months ago I asked if you were going to do a hellraiser ranking and you said you would get to it!!! I'm so happy right now it's amazing! I was wondering what I could do to get a shout out, that would be so cool!
This is like The Terminator salvation , you thought it sucked sucked at first, but then the more sequles that come out the worse they got and you realize it wasn't that bad
I tried to watch all the Hellraisers after the 3rd one and was really impressed with this one. I was like ok. This isn't bad. Then the one after I was like ok this is starting to hurt. I gave up after while. Apparently the scripts were not even originally written as Hellraiser films and boy do they grind the franchise into the ground. Such a pity!
I watched the Reconstruction workprint on YT from the leaked deleted scenes, and it could have been so much better. Angelique was more interesting, the 19th century period was fleshed out better, and the ending made more sense.
You're absolutely right, this could have been a really good movie, if they only didn't had to deal with so much bullshit behind the scenes. Good review.
I love the character Pinhead, he is awesome, and this one u get to see Pinhead throughout the movie which I was happy about :) but sometimes I just don't like when these great killers go to space.. leprechaun and Jason, Great review Lee
I thought you might give it a low humdrum, that's how I felt when I first watched I'm back in high school. I agree with the lighting of the film though, very well lit
I thought the story was good. I like the idea of having a history were the Lemarchand's box came from. The kid had a bad acting in the movie even since he was in the 1997 version of The Shining. But the Cenobite I really like the way they looked in this then Hell On Earth. My favorite of the Cenobite other then Pinhead is the dog. That was one killer Dog.
Great review! I think your gonna like the first two straight to DVD Hellraiser films. I'm a Huuuugee Hellraiser fan. I actually liked 4 better than 3 honestly. 3 felt like they turned Pinhead into a Jason figure. I still like it though. Pinhead had some awesome lines in bloodlines, get it, lol. Keep em comin' brother!
I'm definitely curious about the next ones, even though I hear they're pretty bad. I think 3 and 4 are pretty close in quality. I think I preferred Pinhead in 4 actually.
That intro was awesome bro 😊 Yeah this movie had potential but the bad acting like you said and characters went no where. I liked Angelique but i wish they would if did more for her character. I miss the dread and sick/beautiful imagery of the first 2. I do like the cinematography though & Pinhead has some pretty awesome lines in it i will say. He has some of the most epic lines in horror movies considering most icons don't talk besides chucky etc. You are gonna need a case of monsters to even stomach the next few lol. This one i don't mind and look at as a missed opportunity but it just gets worse and worse as they go 😂. Anyway, awesome review bro. You had me laughing in this one, keep up the great work Lee.
A Yager cut of this movie doesn't exist but I would love to see what his film really was without the studio interfering. Shame we don't have a director's cut and never will.
You don't yet know suffering! 😱 If they'd stuck to a lot of the original concept, this movie could have been a lot better. I'd dig a movie set entirely in the early timeline, with the jester cenobites that never made the cut.
watched the Reconstruction workprint version on YT re-edited with all the leaked deleted scenes, and it could have been so much better. Angelique was more interesting, the 19th century period was fleshed out better, and the ending made more sense.
This is the only one in the franchise I like I freely admit its flaws and it should have been a Trilogy unto itself in the vein of the thorn and Jarvis trilogies
If you look into the Hellraiser comics . You would find that not all of the . Cenobites an beings of hell get along. They do have different opinions . Cenobites have even fought an killed . Other ones over these different opinions an beliefs .
Somebody did a TH-cam version out of it, I watched because I'm a giant nerd, but it's borderline unwatchable as there's some really awful animation. It's still better than the version that hit theaters and I'm with you, Angelique is one of the most interesting characters in the Hellraiser mythos: th-cam.com/video/SSpJu7f2sco/w-d-xo.html I think there was a really good movie to be made, it's a shame that the studio went ahead and meddled so much with the final product.
I enjoyed this film although I take your point that it should of been a better Hellraiser movie than what we got here but it's nowhere near as bad as some fans claim. Studios make me laugh they want a certain type movie so a director goes off & gives them that & then there not happy & want reshoot & recut the movie? Bizarre. Valentina Vargas as Angelique is excellent & adds lot to the movie & of course Doug Bradley as Pinhead never does mediocre & makes Pinhead terrifying but I agree with you about Bruce Ramsay as Philippe "Toymaker" Lemarchand / John Merchant / Doctor Paul Merchant, he is a weak leading actor & cannot carry this movie despite playing 3 characters, none of these were particularly memorable or stood out for me as you'd think at least one of them would. Still some gory kills & it's certainly never boring & at least concludes the theatrical films on a high point, Dimension should have left the franchise alone after this one.
You hit on all of the bad things regarding Hellraiser: Bloodlines. The main character, Merchant, was terribly miscast. That actor brought nothing to the role, which is sad since he carries the entire movie. I did love the back and forth with Pinhead and Angelique. I would rather have her be the main character in the movie. Unfortunately Lee, the rest of the films in the series get worse, consider yourself warned.
You need to go to Cenobite.com and read the original script for this, it was actually very good and would've been one of the best sequels. The studio butchered this film in post production and we ended up with this convoluted mess that doesn't quite make sense..... it's not really the movie's fault. This is basically a Halloween 6 situation, the film we got was not the film that was intended and could've been way better.
The sad part is that this is the best sequel after the first two films. This fact illustrates just how shitty the Hellraiser "franchise" is. The things you liked about it are the things I liked about it. Your comments were on point.
The worst hellraiser movie is hellworld the only up side is henry cavill is in it but he was bad at acting you could tell it was one of his first movies
I watched it last night for the first time and loved it! It was fun to see the back story of the box, i have the rubik cube version! And Angelique was hot. dangerous and sexy. I loved this review, clear and honest!!
I went to see it in the theater and fell asleep 4 times. I was like "cool Pinhead scene, ok back to sleep". Doug Bradley couldn't save the muddled plot and horrible acting.
This was the last one that went to theaters right? You can tell why it was so much of a ClusterFreak. I feel this movie could have been two different movies and it could have worked out a bit better... And we all know when horror movies go to space.... soon your patreon list will be to many people and it will look like tiny names engraved on the stanely cup. may be you should put the patreon names on a monster can and spin it around in circles and it blows up!! lol
my dad actually took me to the theater to see this when it first came out. I remember absolutely nothing about it
Haha that must have been quite an experience!

To be honest this one ain't that bad it at least tries to do something different just a shame studio interference butched the movie.

I liked bloodline, when I saw it again and again you see how characters were made and the girl was 🌟
Angelique is a sight to behold. Doesn't she remind you of Noomi Rapace?
Noomi Rapace, so true!
You're absolutely right, this could have been a really good movie, if they only didn't had to deal with so much bullshit behind the scenes. Good review.
Yeah I always get interested when there's drama behind the scenes. Just kind of adds to the lore of the movie.
Practical effects man, as bad as this movie could be, like you said, it's beautiful to look at.
Oh yeah. The visuals are pretty damn glorious.
This one is far better than the rest after it I kinda liked this one
I love the character Pinhead, he is awesome, and this one u get to see Pinhead throughout the movie which I was happy about :) but sometimes I just don't like when these great killers go to space.. leprechaun and Jason, Great review Lee
Yep. I've never been a fan of slasher icons in space. Please don't ever put Michael in space.
I thought you might give it a low humdrum, that's how I felt when I first watched I'm back in high school. I agree with the lighting of the film though, very well lit

Oh so that kid was in the shining TV version? He always made these weird faces which were really awkward looking.
Yeah he was. After that TV version I never really seen him play anything else.
I had fun with this mainly thanks to Kim Myers!
Her acting is so over the top in this haha! She's gorgeous though.

It's a trick or treat studios mask. I believe I ordered it from Ebay.

Yeah they really could have pulled a trilogy out of this storyline. It's just too much stuffed into one episode.
Not a great movie, but I do like a lot about it. Angelique is the pinacle. Pinhead is always good with Bradley.

Yes I will!

Haha I have a feeling you're right.
I loved it! Yeah some of the actors didn't do good but it's still memorable to me! 😊
Yeah and I LOVED Angelique in this. I want a spinoff movie!
Drumdums Yes, she was mesmerizing! Idk what it was about her character but damn she was beautifully terrifying, lol🙄
"Beautifully terrifying"...perfect summation!
This was an okay film. I haven't seen it in awhile but I'm sure I'd give it another watch
Same. I'll probably give it another watch down the line.

Haha!

Spot on. This is towards the bottom of the list as far as the franchise goes, and that's saying a lot. The drop off after the first 3 is so bad.
That's what I keep hearing. Hopefully they delve into the so bad they're fun category. We'll see. And thank you!

Interesting. I've heard the rest of them are "out there".

Wow that should be interesting. It's cool to see all these young stars in B level horror films.
Hellraiser123 and bloodline all kick ass. I don't give a rat's ass it's a beginning to a end. I also like hell seeker it's about it

I can't believe this franchise gets even worse than 4 lol
The terrible 90’s cgi really took me out of the movie but I did enjoy the connection to the 3rd movie.
I dont hate this movie. The security cop kill was solid. Its movie with low expectations that is decent on 2nd watch. 1st watch I hated it.
Yeah it's definitely watchable. Some decent elements in there.

This is a poor film no doubt but no worse than Hell On Earth. It explains the ending of Hell On Earth nicely and gives Pinhead a definitive ending.
Kid also in Shining remake. Just awful...
Yeah that kid was not meant to be an actor.
