When I fought Zenlightener, I had one yokai alive out of the six I brought with me. Zenlightener was at 1hp and he was performing his green green red. One move before he got to red, my last yokai gave him the final punch and defeated him. The yokai who gave the last hit? None other than the first yokai I ever got! Thank you Whisper! You showed the true dedication of a yokai butler.
7:39 Why are all the characters in this game just amazing? They fit together so well, Folly actually having (or at least using her brain) a brain, and Blunder who gets some of the stupidest and most random ideas ever. Like *WALKING* to the Yo-kai World

The “Green… Green… Red” thing is just Red Light, Green Light; when kids in Japan play it, they use the phrase “The daruma doll fell down!”
And now, because nobody asked, I'm gonna talk about the origins of a few yokai here. Be warned, some of the later ones can get super dark, so don't click the read more if you get nervous easily.
Starting off, Whirlweasels are the YW equivalent of the Kamaitachi. In Japanese folklore, the kamaitachi are yokai that are responsible for you getting cuts on your body even though you weren't even near anything sharp. The usual thing is that they cut the air so fast that they make wind blades that cut you, or that they just cut you directly, since they're known for looking like weasels that have sickles for their arms. I think they're also known for having some kind of healing salve as well, which is why a lot of the cuts you end up discovering (that they're responsible for) are usually really light cuts that don't hurt, because the healing salve works so good that even if they lopped off a limb, it could be reattached with the salve with no pain, no bleeding, or even noticing it was cut off in the first place.
And of course, can't forget Greesel. I think he's based on Nurarihyon, a yokai who's considered the top dog in the yokai world (not to be confused with Lord Enma, who in the same folklore, is the ruler of Jigoku, aka the Japanese equivalent of the Judeo-Christian Hell). Traditionally, he's known for pulling off annoying minor things like sneaking into your house and eating your food and such. He can pull it off because he's considered such an authority figure in the yokai world, it leaks off into the human world, so humans consider him an authority as well, even mistaking him as the master of the houses he's sneaking into. Only after he leaves do people realize what happened.
Next is Thurston... I"m pretty sure he's based on the yokai general Shuten Doji, who's known for being the general of a massive army of yokai... and also being a literal wicked drunk. Like, the weird bowl-plate deal he's always holding is a giant version of a type of sake cup. But since Yo-Kai Watch is a kids game, we can't mention alcohol, so instead, Thurston is all about 'sports drinks.'
And Chirpster here is kind of neat. Some folks might think he's based on tengu, but I'm thinking he's more based on the nyunai suzune, a yokai that takes the form of a russett sparrow; this yokai is the ghost of a royal attendant named Fujiwara no Sanekata, who was exiled because he threw the hat of another attendant in a jealous rage over some gossip. He came back as a sparrow with a ridiculously huge appetite, consuming entire royal banquets, and even fields of crops. That would explain why you had to get so much food for his quest in the first Yo-Kai Watch game, and why he's dressed kind of regally.
Duwheel is based on the wa nyudo, which has the same appearance as Duwheel: big spooky head as the center point of a wheel with spokes popping out of his head and big flames everywhere. wa nyudo are way more nasty though: they patrol to hunt down corrupt priests and sinful humans. I personally think the job pays by quota, since they're also perfectly content dragging back normal people too. Heck, just LOOKING at one is often enough to have your spirit pulled out of your body to be dragged back to hell. Nasty stuff.
Ooooh, the nasty spider Abdallah mentioned reminded me: the tsuchigumo is a yokai too. Pretty straightforward stuff here: when any animal lives long enough, it can turn into a yokai, and spiders are no different. In their case, they tend to get gigantic and start directly attacking humans In traditionally spidery ways, too. It usually involves draining their insides after liquefying them, eww.
Then there's the head honcho, the Zenlightener. Not really sure whether he's based off the traditional Bhudda (because of his desire to obtain enlightment) or not, but I can't think of any yokai he could relate to.

(25:17) This line is proof that Level-5 knows that this boss fight will be so abysmal, that it will make the player very angry. And they didn't do anything about it because that's what they want.
Some people don’t know this, but physical attacks are weak against the final boss of the tower of zen

QOTD: Here you go, These Yo-kai on my team when clearing Zen tower for the 1st time
-Cruncha(still mah main since second game, Intimidation is amazing skill)
-Bison Burly(Basically tweaked version of Sergeant burly, All stats galore~)
-Solar Enma(Blaze of Glory is pretty OP, free fire tile each Incinerate)
-Alpina (Main healer and reviver, pretty beautiful and useful skill as well, slight heal each time moving Yo-kai)
-Enma the Ancient(one of main attackers, Final judgement Pretty useful for finishing bosses)
-Sonic bam(Pair of heals...pretty amazing. i didn't recruit Double time prior, so ended with him)

Complete Yo-Kai Circles(you need to get YW Circle app from detective agency quest involving Usapyon) consisted by Boss Yo-kai's Friend form. after completing it, Bison burly is yours.
dont feel too bad dude, i lost my first time against Zen too. My drawback was having too many physicals since he seems to have good phy. Def.- mix that and I wasn't paying attention when the "green... green... red" thing happened, and i got whomped X/

The key to defeating the Zenlightener is the Cheeky Aura. You can get this aura by trading Ghastly Fragments with Mr. Wonderful next to the BBQ Crank-a-Kai. It only lasts for 30 minutes, so be as quick as you can.
The final boss of the Tower of Zenlightenment is beyond abysmal. It's like Jasper Batt Jr., the final boss in "No More Heroes 2." I've never played that game, but I heard the final boss is almost impossible. I don't know how this is possible, but the Zenlightener is one of, if not the, most sadistic thing to come out of a video game. But what would make this boss fight a real nightmare is if all of your Yo-kai are temporary forced back to level 1 once you face the Zenlightener. That would make this fight absolutely impossible.
Unfortunately, even though I’m from the future, these Yo-kai aren’t very good (except Fukurokuju and Big Fish)
Brutle and Blade Awoken Enma are better than Shogun and Blade Enma. A better Slippery Yo-kai is Big Fish, and in place of Whisper, I’d use Ultimate Robonyan, and swap Gizmo’s placement with Fukurokuju’s.
Edit: When Orcalyte targets a yo kai, have either Hinozall or his Awoken form be in back row, or a yo kai with the Peerless soul.
Switch them in to replace the targeted yo kai, and they won’t take damage since the soul/ability nullifies the 1st attack they take.
This tower is really hard. I was surprised I was able to make it all the way to chirpolyte on my first try

Front up my build-a-nyan called Ashenyan after my late cat Ahses when I was about 5 then later we realized that I was not only allergic to cats, she also had a tumor with no way of removal so we had to put her down......I'm sorry that got sad moving on! The Hinix in the middle front and to the right of him The Last Bushinyan. Then in the back would be Big Fish in the middle for tanking. Fukarokaju for main healing (obviously) and finally Ancient Enma.

Gift of the gods only works when the one with the skill is linked to it's allies and enma isn't linked to gzmonyan
I intentionally went in with underleveled yokai (Mainly s-ranked and around level 60 or 50), and I managed to beat it on the first go

Orcalyte was actually targeting Shogunyan, so when you moved, the target thing flipped over because you went to the other side
I took in the ‘BrONIES’ trade mark. Frogetmenot, Komastar, and Last Nyan. I made it to the 10th floor, got him down to the last quarter of his health but lost because of the Mattel before no one leveled up so no one was fully healed for the fight.

QOTD: A Jibakoma, Shogunyan, Originyan, and Lord Enma because they are the ones I really want and Fukurokuju and Big fish because they seem useful for helping allies out.
use more Technique users, physical attacks don't do much without some serious boosts.
Yo-kai like Ultimate Robonyan can also be immune to the lava floor he makes.

I completed the tower first try, though admittedly i had a team of S Rank buildanyan with gold thundpurr and a whole lot of DEF and ATK, mee 2, hinozall, hinozall awoken, ancient enma, and enma awoken (no Blade)
I'm taking Lord Enma, Shounyan, and originalnayn in the front row as for the back I have Fukurokuju, whisper, and Robonyan. I thought that this is the best combo to take to the tower of zen.

you can heal using the revive party medicine outside of battle
I think Orcalyte targeted Shogunyan, that's why those red things were circling Shogunwan and the attack squares changed when Shogunyan moved

Gun's also more useful than you think it is - it's damage based on percentage of Hp per hit, but not on defense.

im planning on using: regular form enma, snartle, eggcelency, build-a-nyan, hinozall and el dorago. I know its not a very good team but it works for most battles.
Gift of the gods doesn't work because Gzmonyan needs to be linked with Enma and not with Shogunyan
i brought Fukurokuju, Enma Awoken, Lord Enma, Venoct, Jibanyan and Shmoopie. Jibanyan and Shmoopie cuz Jibanyan (with the strength bell) and Shmoopie (with a legendary ring), Venoct (with mythical bracelet) for the Blaster, Enma Awoken (with the enmablade), and Lord Enma (with mythical bracelet) were the front row and Fukurokuju (with aunt hearty soul) was straight behind them on the field. It wworked First Try.
I dont have yo-kai watch 3 yet but i am still thinking about who i should bring for this battle
For some reason when I fought the Zenlightner my Yo Kai did like 5 damage to him. It took me about an hour but I actually managed to beat him!

green red light is a japanese game and this boss yokai is a japanese god that makes you play a game that you have to touch the button in the back of his head you move when its green and stop move when the light is red
I'm using Hinozall Awoken, Enma Awoken, Ancient Enma, Venoctobot, Fukorokoju, and Kyubot. They all have at least 1 stat above 300. 4 of them have a stat near 400 or 500.

Bit of a logic fail there Abdallah... Whisper's ability is a liability as it means if allies get hit by an enemy attack, there is a higher probability of it being a critical against them... Not the way you're thinking of it boosting their crit chance.
24:20 Uh. Because Enma isn't linked with Gizmonyan. That ability only works on linked Yo-kai. If you want it to work, put Enma on the middle row next to the Originyan.

If you reset at the place after you beat that boss there's a very tiny chance you can a get a very rare item that can get usyon to his true form
You can get it in blasters T and its WAY easier that way.
Im going to use enma once I challenge them. Since level 99 isnt even enough.

My team is Ult. Robonyan. Very fast, hits like a truck, and its an absolute tank. Originyan, because mine is a heavy hitter aswell as a back up healer. Fukurokiju, because hes an amazing healer. In the back I have Snartle as a back up hitter. Venoctobot as a back up tank. And Mee 2 as a back up healer.

Actually. Big Fish is only available if you have chosen Tomnyan in the Beginning. If you went for the Koma Brothers you have Access to Alpina on Top of Mt. Middleton in Harrisville. Also if u go with Tomnyan u get access to Darkyubi and otherwise you get Illuminoct...
So it is no really possible to get your Team without Trading.

@@11icelord Strange. Because there are only two ways to "decide" to go for Tempura or Sushi... I went double Sushi. With the Koma Brothers and Little Charrmer. My Friend got double Tempura with Tomnyan and Silver Lining. He got Big Fish, i got Alpina. He got the Darkyubi Quest, i got the Illuminoct Quest. But Abdallah has chosen Tomnyan and Little Charrmer... and when he got Big Fish i thought that it may be because of Tomnyan. :O
And if u are Sushi or Tempura also defines which of the Heroes u get in Post-Game

I know I'm kinda late on commenting on this but i love yo kai watch 3 so I'm still going to comment I'm using the team up front is Lord enma jibanyan and in tune and in back is hinozall venoct and arachnus all leval 99 and I'm using those guys just because I really like those yo kai
In yoga I watch there’s always a new infinite inferno but this time this one is not like the infant in front of more likely like a reusing bosses and find them again and again and again and again until you become onto the final boss this kind of reminds me of that but I still like an infinite inferno

I’m using deva yo kai to fight him plus platinos as the tank and fukurokuju as the healer and I still can’t beat zenlightener
