Melissa! I got a funny story for ya! I’ve been quarantined so long I have forgotten all about wearing shoes. Today I had to venture out for the first time to take my son to a tour of his new college. I remembered to wear a mask but forgot about shoes! I went in my slippers & didn’t realize it until I got there! How embarrassing!!! 😱

It’s always such a good feeling to go through your closet and rearrange it or get rid of clothing you know you are not going to wear anymore. I cleaned mine out a while ago and had three large bags of clothing that I donated to our local Catholic Charity organization. It’s rewarding to give stuff away to people who are less fortunate! Loved this! I have been going through my closet during quarantine as well and threw everything in a couple ThredUp bags. It feels so good to rediscover what you have and to get rid of what you don't wear. I used to take all of my clothes to consignment stores in my area and it's a nice way to make some money back on things I didn't really wear much. I don't have many in my area now so I just send to ThredUp. I have been buying less makeup too and just focusing on using what I have. Thank goodness so many of us have enough clothes and makeup to last us through an economic crisis and we can give to those who are without. I'm so happy every time you upload so thank you =)
This was very good Melissa. Due to fluctuation in size, that I cannot seem to stabilize, I have all the four season clothing in 3 different sizes. I have to keep them since I try to buy quality, classic pieces to avoid repurchasing. It is a pain.

Same here! Having Sons is wonderful, but I have BOTH daughter-in-laws who I Treat as if they are my own, but I must wait At Least a month to text and ask if I can come see my 2 grand daughters!!! Do you? I would LOVE to know. They are both still in their baby year (s) and I won't ever get these days back. After a day passes from a visit, I actually forget what their faces look like sometimes!!! That's just cruel. I have tried everything to change how the girls feel about me, but they are both so very close to their own Mothers and sisters, etc. And neither of my sons, as good as they are to me, help me in seeing the babies much more often! Help? Suggestions?❤

You did a good job editing to update your closet. I found it important to also edit and update the home decor. It does wonders to have current looks in personal and home fashion!
I've been going through my clothes, too. I switched out winter to spring/summer. Now, I'm getting rid of pieces that I haven't been wearing. It really is hard to let go sometimes! I hate when I buy something and don't like how it feels when I'm wearing it. Good video! Blessings . . . Michelle
@@Melissa55 I LOVE the long skirted bedding behind you whilst filming. It looks like mattress fabric, but I know its not. Beautiful! I am into the light romantic pastel colors look. Maybe cause I only had sons but I certainly had some frilly looks all through our house whilst married. Now that I've been on my own for exactly, this past May, will be 30 years, I have decorated this 110 year old house for a Frilly woman in every room! And I love it! ONE good thing living on your own!
I just spent the last two days cleaning out and organizing my closet. I filled 5 large boxes with clothes and shoes and took them to the Caring Place. It made me feel so much better getting rid of things that I no longer need. My next challenge is the two large, walk-in closets upstairs.

I will have to turn my A/C down to 50 degrees WHEN I do my clean out, as I get totally too hot, (Menopause at age 50 to now at age 61 and hot flashes still going strong! At least six times a day, so I have mini rechargeable fans I keep in every room of house, I must stay cool or I will faint! I AM a Southern gal, and we keep cloth hankies in our sleeves or inside our bras just for our fainting spells/hot flashes! And can't grocery shop in summer. Stores are too hot for me, hauling inside house so I use a service! I keep myself busy either at pool or staying indoors working on painting projects! Only way I can make it during Summer heat! OK. Enough. Sorry, but had to see if anyone else is as hot as I am? And, I don't need another piece of clothing, at all. Can go for another 10 years without buying anything new! Sorry, I'm very detailed when I talk/type! ❤❤❤

As I am watching your video the weather here in sunny CA is raining with thunder too. This usually doesn't happen at the end of May here. It is usually dry from June through Oct. or Nov. Same here Melissa. I cannot believe how much clothes and makeup I have. I mean it's just unbelievable! I still watch QVC and the other shopping channels but I absolutely have no business ordering a thing. It's funny how you kind of know, but when you actually take the time and go through it all, it shocks you into reality.
Those big old houses are great until you need a closet, right? Same with our 1880’s house. I did the clothing switch this week too, it’s a big job. I started getting ruthless and making a big giveaway pile as well. Less to haul around every year! I bought some great collapsible bins from QVC by Periea; they’re awesome & lighter to use rather than the Rubbermaid totes. 2020 is my year to purge the house. I'm a hairdresser and notorious for wearing all black! The only difference between my winter and summer clothes are long sleeves and short sleeves!! Haha! I love your clothes....very bright and cheery and you look beautiful as always but I didn't know CVS sold clothes! The laws of gravity obviously do not apply to you, God bless you Melissa.

So I went back and bought another pair in black, same, to keep for fun times in winter when I DO actually wear them out in public, but with the proper cover up top, of course! Moving is the best way to find out how much junk accumulated. It is mind boggling. The first couple times I moved I was hauling junk from one place to another and then I finally started going through it so now when I organize I pretend like I am moving.

Friend of mine did this but Goodwill or Salvation Army would not take her donations stating that they had too much. I wonder if it was that or if they were concerned about virus contamination. Nice if you have relatives or friends that you can give your clothing to

Was one top when you had like a blue top in your hand. Kinda grey/purple. Noooo keep that. But true colour doesn't always show up. Last year or maybe the year before, its a Blur i filled 8 huge bags up for different charities. I need to do it again. Found the most gorgeous summer dress. In my wardrobe, never worn it ...Well i think it is. Typically im on some antibiotics and cant go out in the sun. You never know this might be our summer. Ya did good girl. Anna I do appreciate you asking that, but it’s a bit tricky. I have Crohn’s disease with part of my intestines removed, so I don’t eat like other people eat. Since so much of my intestines are missing, I have to just struggle To get the proper nutrition. So it’s just hard to know whether to do a video on what I eat. Some days I can’t eat much because I might be sick, and some days I can eat normally. But I really appreciate you asking. Thank you so much.

I've put on a little weight and if I can get back into one size smaller I have so many wonderful things. I just can't seem to let them go. I'm going to look into the Marie Kondo folding and such. I've heard of her of course but never really paid enough attention to her method. Your right about appreciating the things we have - I notice I really do have so many nice things I'm blessed. This was such an inspiring video. Thank you! Unless you are trying to go for minimalism I think it is okay to have a lot of one color. It is so hot in Florida, I find it hard to wear anything but white tops. I wear black in winter. I do have colors in my wardrobe but I only want light colors in spring and summer.

I truly enjoyed this video!! What a great idea 💡 using clothes pins to hold up items when you've run out of the hangers that have those clips attached to them. I always have skirts to hang and no hangers available. I have found that during quarantine and not being able to shop for summer clothes. That the limited summer wardrobe that I do have I have been wearing on repeat a lot. I have discovered that I'm ok with that! In fact, it's ALOT easier to pick out an outfit when your selection is limited.I think quarantine has enlightened my wardrobe sensibility. I don't need 20 shirts and shirts etc etc 6 will do me just fine!!!
What you have said is so very true. Through all this I really have tried to sit down and think about silver linings. I think at least for myself, and for Doug, we have reset our lives. We have had to. We have had to really cut costs and examine the things that are important. And that is not a bad thing. The cutting of the clothes was a bit symbolic for me. I feel much freer now. I keep everything, (at least from 10 years ago, heck some longer, I admit, like never worn suede pants, suede skirts, leather skirts, leather pants, BUT...I purchased them as special items that are SO CLASSIC that they will never go out of style, I swear. Like leather skirts and suits from Brooks Brothers, Softest leather EVER and laser cut, thin, extremely stylish, hits mid knee, etc. And for the softest suede jacket/skirt combos in pastel colors, and beiges, taupes, etc. from Saks 5th Ave. I promise, these items will never go out of style. They've got futuristic collars, but very classic styles. But by no means is everything I have this price point! And, I have suede and leather shoes to match all of these, perfectly, yep, which I will never give away as they too are still in style, very much so! But...I CAN"T FIT INTO THESE CERTAIN SKIRTS AND PANTS so I Keep Them!!! I could never see myself throwing them out! What if I DO lose these extra 30 pounds??? Then I will wear them all the time for very special events Only!!!! HA ha! So, Melissa, This is where you are so much of a better person than I! I don't want to share my most fav clothing, (What if I could never find more like these? What if I lose my money? Never know What's coming in this enviroment! But, You are so much more giving than me! You are non materialistic ! Me, not so much! But...You DO have everything you want and then some! You just musn't throw out so much! Looked like you were left with a few things, in each category! Loving your channel SO much, Me! Banana!
I'm a bit late watching this! I can't put a Number on the amount of items I have in my closet! If I like it & wear it I keep it.. Plus I read & watched videos about how the economic depression world wide will cause shortages of clothing and fabric! So it was recommended to save clothes for re-making clothes. I am trying not to panic but I am being more frugal. I'm also building up at least a 3 month stockpile of shelf stable foods ..😬 The Toilet Paper Caper was a real eye opener to me!! ❣🙌🏼🙏🏻

Loved this! I have been going through my closet during quarantine as well and threw everything in a couple ThredUp bags. It feels so good to rediscover what you have and to get rid of what you don't wear. I used to take all of my clothes to consignment stores in my area and it's a nice way to make some money back on things I didn't really wear much. I don't have many in my area now so I just send to ThredUp. I have been buying less makeup too and just focusing on using what I have. Thank goodness so many of us have enough clothes and makeup to last us through an economic crisis and we can give to those who are without. I'm so happy every time you upload so thank you =)
This was very good Melissa. Due to fluctuation in size, that I cannot seem to stabilize, I have all the four season clothing in 3 different sizes. I have to keep them since I try to buy quality, classic pieces to avoid repurchasing. It is a pain.

Same here! Having Sons is wonderful, but I have BOTH daughter-in-laws who I Treat as if they are my own, but I must wait At Least a month to text and ask if I can come see my 2 grand daughters!!! Do you? I would LOVE to know. They are both still in their baby year (s) and I won't ever get these days back. After a day passes from a visit, I actually forget what their faces look like sometimes!!! That's just cruel. I have tried everything to change how the girls feel about me, but they are both so very close to their own Mothers and sisters, etc. And neither of my sons, as good as they are to me, help me in seeing the babies much more often! Help? Suggestions?❤

Maybe cause I only had sons but I certainly had some frilly looks all through our house whilst married. Now that I've been on my own for exactly, this past May, will be 30 years, I have decorated this 110 year old house for a Frilly woman in every room! And I love it! ONE good thing living on your own!
I just spent the last two days cleaning out and organizing my closet. I filled 5 large boxes with clothes and shoes and took them to the Caring Place. It made me feel so much better getting rid of things that I no longer need. My next challenge is the two large, walk-in closets upstairs.

I will have to turn my A/C down to 50 degrees WHEN I do my clean out, as I get totally too hot, (Menopause at age 50 to now at age 61 and hot flashes still going strong! At least six times a day, so I have mini rechargeable fans I keep in every room of house, I must stay cool or I will faint! I AM a Southern gal, and we keep cloth hankies in our sleeves or inside our bras just for our fainting spells/hot flashes! And can't grocery shop in summer. Stores are too hot for me, hauling inside house so I use a service! I keep myself busy either at pool or staying indoors working on painting projects! Only way I can make it during Summer heat! OK. Enough. Sorry, but had to see if anyone else is as hot as I am? And, I don't need another piece of clothing, at all. Can go for another 10 years without buying anything new! Sorry, I'm very detailed when I talk/type! ❤❤❤

As I am watching your video the weather here in sunny CA is raining with thunder too. This usually doesn't happen at the end of May here. It is usually dry from June through Oct. or Nov. Same here Melissa. I cannot believe how much clothes and makeup I have. I mean it's just unbelievable! I still watch QVC and the other shopping channels but I absolutely have no business ordering a thing. Those big old houses are great until you need a closet, right? Same with our 1880’s house. I did the clothing switch this week too, it’s a big job. I started getting ruthless and making a big giveaway pile as well. Less to haul around every year! I bought some great collapsible bins from QVC by Periea; they’re awesome & lighter to use rather than the Rubbermaid totes. 2020 is my year to purge the house. I'm a hairdresser and notorious for wearing all black! The only difference between my winter and summer clothes are long sleeves and short sleeves!! Haha! So I went back and bought another pair in black, same, to keep for fun times in winter when I DO actually wear them out in public, but with the proper cover up top, of course! Moving is the best way to find out how much junk accumulated. It is mind boggling. The first couple times I moved I was hauling junk from one place to another and then I finally started going through it so now when I organize I pretend like I am moving.

Was one top when you had like a blue top in your hand. Kinda grey/purple. Noooo keep that. But true colour doesn't always show up. Last year or maybe the year before, its a Blur i filled 8 huge bags up for different charities. I need to do it again. Found the most gorgeous summer dress. In my wardrobe, never worn it ...Well i think it is. Typically im on some antibiotics and cant go out in the sun. You never know this might be our summer. Ya did good girl. Anna I do appreciate you asking that, but it’s a bit tricky. I have Crohn’s disease with part of my intestines removed, so I don’t eat like other people eat. Since so much of my intestines are missing, I have to just struggle To get the proper nutrition. So it’s just hard to know whether to do a video on what I eat. Some days I can’t eat much because I might be sick, and some days I can eat normally. But I really appreciate you asking. Thank you so much.

This was such an inspiring video. Thank you! Unless you are trying to go for minimalism I think it is okay to have a lot of one color. It is so hot in Florida, I find it hard to wear anything but white tops. I wear black in winter. I do have colors in my wardrobe but I only want light colors in spring and summer.

of the hangers that have those clips attached to them. I always have skirts to hang and no hangers available. I have found that during quarantine and not being able to shop for summer clothes.
That the limited summer wardrobe that I do have I have been wearing on repeat a lot. I have discovered that I'm ok with that! In fact, it's ALOT easier to pick out an outfit when your selection is limited.I think quarantine has enlightened my wardrobe sensibility. I don't need 20 shirts and shirts etc etc 6 will do me just fine!!!
What you have said is so very true. Through all this I really have tried to sit down and think about silver linings. I think at least for myself, and for Doug, we have reset our lives. We have had to. We have had to really cut costs and examine the things that are important. And that is not a bad thing. The cutting of the clothes was a bit symbolic for me. I feel much freer now. Goodness gracious you are so right. I thought I had very few clothes. What I finally realized was I have too many clothes, so I was getting confused and just wearing the same few ones over and over again. I couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Thank you and much love.
@@Melissa55 Its Me, again, already! But, I was screaming out, NO, NOT THAT ONE!!!! YOU THREW OUT SOME OF THE BEST ONES!!! I CAN NOT DO THIS! I keep everything, (at least from 10 years ago, heck some longer, I admit, like never worn suede pants, suede skirts, leather skirts, leather pants, BUT...I purchased them as special items that are SO CLASSIC that they will never go out of style, I swear. Like leather skirts and suits from Brooks Brothers, Softest leather EVER and laser cut, thin, extremely stylish, hits mid knee, etc. And for the softest suede jacket/skirt combos in pastel colors, and beiges, taupes, etc. from Saks 5th Ave. I promise, these items will never go out of style. They've got futuristic collars, but very classic styles. But by no means is everything I have this price point! And, I have suede and leather shoes to match all of these, perfectly, yep, which I will never give away as they too are still in style, very much so! But...I CAN"T FIT INTO THESE CERTAIN SKIRTS AND PANTS so I Keep Them!!! I could never see myself throwing them out! What if I DO lose these extra 30 pounds??? Then I will wear them all the time for very special events Only!!!! HA ha! So, Melissa, This is where you are so much of a better person than I! I don't want to share my most fav clothing, (What if I could never find more like these? What if I lose my money? Never know What's coming in this enviroment! But, You are so much more giving than me! You are non materialistic ! Me, not so much! But...You DO have everything you want and then some! You just musn't throw out so much! Looked like you were left with a few things, in each category! Loving your channel SO much, Me! Banana!
I'm a bit late watching this! I can't put a Number on the amount of items I have in my closet! If I like it & wear it I keep it.. Plus I read & watched videos about how the economic depression world wide will cause shortages of clothing and fabric! So it was recommended to save clothes for re-making clothes. I am trying not to panic but I am being more frugal. I'm also building up at least a 3 month stockpile of shelf stable foods ..😬 The Toilet Paper Caper was a real eye opener to me!! ❣🙌🏼🙏🏻
