Thanks for the review. I was looking for a combination of DRL and computer holder, and this fits the bill perfectly. A shame I can't mount a stronger light underneath for when I go on longer trips and expect darkness, but it's still a great, very neat system.
Thanks for this informative video. i just bought this and i can say that it has some areas that it can improve a lot and become the one and only light for 90% of the rides ! I would recommend on Version 2 : 1) a bigger battery as possible . My local training everyday night rides are 1.5 to 2 hours so i would like at least 2 hours or more of light. 2) 800 lumens or more. 3) another mount on the bottom , preferably a Garmin mount , for attaching a Gopro with half turn click or another light for the longer rides . 4) As already said a battery indicator 5) less complicate buttons. one is enough for all the functions of one light.
No problem, thanks for you sharing your thoughts on the light as well - hopefully Moon Sport comes out with a V2 of the MX with more power and features. You might also want to consider the RAVEMEN FR160 which is more of a "sandwich" type daytime light. You could then use a brighter nighttime light or mount your computer without losing a spot on your mount.
The direct to stem mount is definitely a lot clear and has less clutter than normal mounts. Moon Sport does offer an out-in-front mount option though which is easier to use if you want to switch between bikes.
Thank you! I am considering buying the Wahoo lanyard, because that particularly locking system worries me... the side lock is allowing a small play, even from day one, so I am afraid that hitting a pothole at a considerable speed would snap the whole assembly out... And the Wahoo would be the most expensive loss 😊
Thanks! Yes, the cable routing isn't the prettiest with the stock Specialized drop bars. There are a lot of fully integrated setups that completely hide cables altogether these days.
Great video and very detailed. I found it very helpful. However, I checked around, it seems that no one mentioned about the models of Garmin Edge that it can fit, do you think it will fit a Garmin Edge 1000 ? The 1000 is kinda big.
I believe it should work, in the video you can see the Bryton 750 which is also a large computer and it fits without an issue. Only "aero" computers like some Wahoo models that have non-flat bottoms would have fitment issues.
very interesting product. I'm looking for options for a stem bolt computer mount, shame this light is kind of weak and has poor battery life. would pay more for it if they made it better
If you're just looking for a computer mount with a similar direct stem mount, there are other options. For example Lezyne has one - ride.lezyne.com/products/1-gps-fsmcm-v104. They are typically referred to as "direct" out-front mounts.
@@TheSweetCyclists thanks for your recommendation. It looks interesting but doesn't seem to have a Garmin type adapter included from the pictures and videos on their website. I may be wrong though
We used the MX for over a year and haven't had issues with it. The only precaution I would take is to use a lanyard if you have a larger GPS computer just in case.
@@TheSweetCyclists I use the 830. Is it considered big? I am thinking of getting the MX Link which comes with the handlebar mount instead of the stem mount. I wonder if it fits nicely & rattle-free?
I didn't have rattle issues, so hopefully your Garmin 830 is similar. I would call the 830 a normal sized computer (2.6" screen) compared to the bigger 3.5" Garmin 1040. Using a lanyard on the GPS computer is just a precaution as GPS computers can be quite expensive. @@abhimawa1
Thanks for suggestion, the BR25's lens cover definitely looks interesting. I'm not a fan of the bulky mount but the flashlight body seems useful for around town use. We'll try to reach out to Nightcore. We'll be doing another Fenix light soon as well which offers a replaceable battery - a rare feature when it comes to bike lights.
Hello! I am wondering if Moon has allowed for a safety chord to be attached to the handlebar to secure it in case of bike crash? Or would it be OK if connected to Wahoo computer, the Wahoo chord will do the safety job for both devices? Thank you!
The MX light / mount doesn't have a lanyard attachment but it is very secure as it locks into place. I'm not sure what would happen in an crash if you have a Wahoo computer tied to your handlebar but its possible it would stay attached to the MX mount.
Hi, it's a nice solution to not having a handlebar light. i wanted to buy the version with the support and i have the bryton 450. i saw that you also use bryton, is it fixed well?
Yes, it does work with Bryton computers (I have the 750) but it isn't designed specifically for Bryton computers. I found the heavier 750 would rotate slightly - its never fallen off but its annoying. I haven't tried it but I suspect you could swap out the Garmin/Wahoo insert for a Bryton insert as the spacing looks like all the other mounts on the market.
@@TheSweetCyclists Thanks for the review. I just got the Moon MX light (after watching your review) and it comes with a Bryton insert which I swap out for the Bryton 750. It actually secured quite nicely and has a nice click when secured. Haven't installed it to the bike but will do so soon.
@@hobilly71 I'm glad the review could help you. Did you get two inserts? In the review you can see my MX only came with one (Garmin mount that can be rotated 90 degrees for Wahoo). The Garmin mount on mine does work with Bryton but it doesn't have that nice click.
@@TheSweetCyclists Yes, mine comes with two inserts and I was like cool. I actually wanted to get the Faric Lumaray but just couldn't get it from anywhere thus the Moon MX. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks.
The bright CREE LED has 30 degrees of adjustment which should be enough to angle it downward and reduce glare. Moon Sport also offers an out-front style bracket for the MX that would allow you to tilt the entire mount for more flexibility.
Great video--thank you! Will the mount install using the top stem bolts? I've found that using the lower bolts results in my bike computer being tilted downwards, making it more difficult to read while on the move.
Good question, I don't see why it wouldn't. It would be higher up but the top two bolts should be tilted upward. Moon Sport also sells an out-front mount to attach the MX to which would give you much more control over the angle and is easier to install.
If you have an integrated handlebar / stem I don't think you can use this light. This light requires two stem bolts to be installed. Moon Sport used to have n out-front mount with an attachment for this light, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
Help bro. I've purchase this one. But the front light wont on. The blue indicator in left still on but no response at all. I've read the manual but still like this.please
Are you sure you aren't in the lock out mode? You need to hold the middle button for ~5 seconds - the light will flash twice when it is unlocked. After that, the light can turned on and used as normal - otherwise you would just see the button flashing.
@@TheSweetCyclists i've done everything, like to push b1 button for 5 sec and still no response, or both. In the manual there is no clue what happened when the blue light on the left on. Even i tried to charge, no sign at all.
Yes, Moon Sport claims it should work for Wahoo computers - Garmin: EDGE 1030, 1000, 820, 810, 800 & 520 / Wahoo: ELEMNT, BOLT, MINI / Bryton Rider Series. The mount is slightly raised so even the little lip on the Wahoo shouldn't interfere with the mount.
The MX is compatible with any Garmin/Wahoo computer or device with a flat bottom. Aero computers like the Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT may not work due to the front lip. I'd recommend reaching out to Moon Sport to confirm - we don't have one on hand to try it out. The Wahoo ROAM looks like it should work as it doesn't appear to have a front lip on the base.
