i wish my company had 5th wheels this nice. ours are old dirty and beat to shit. had a few guys drop trailers. each one has slack in it and over 500000 miles. my handle doesnt stay out when i open the jaws. it springs right back closed. also when i couple the jaws dont close until doing it a few trys and even then u dont hear the quick snap of the jaws.
Fifth wheels are the most often overlooked and neglected component by many truck companies. All they do is throw more grease on them and send them on their way. The ones I love the most are the dump trailer configurations "permanently" coupled to the tractor. Once I had to drop a dump trailer with no legs installed, fifth wheel handle and locks were completely bound and jammed, just to check for the reason of a hard steering problem. The fifthwheel deck, jaws, kingpin, and trailer plate were completely chewed up from having no grease or a teflon plate.
