    Oh man, is this film a MST3K classic. I agree that Devilfish does have some creative moments, like being the first film to have a shark-octopus hybrid. Michael Sopkiw actually had the look of an action hero and it's too bad he didn't continue acting.

    Fish developed teeth around 400 million years ago, but the "shark" they use in this movie doesn't even have teeth and nor is it a shark. Dunkleosteus is a placoderm and has modified armour plates of bone instead of teeth.

    The Dunkleosteus is pretty much one of the scariest things to ever swim along with Megalodon, Pliosaurus and the Killer Whale. It deserves to be in more horror movies, preferably with practical effects.

    • @LB74
      @LB74 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nightmare fuel the Dunkleoteus is indeed. Ever since I saw the fossil of one on display at Cleveland Museum of Natural History. If and when the sequel to THE MEG gets made, one should definitely put in an appearance. I remember posting a pic of one in another site. Freaked a lot of people out in the comments. Also one was the heavy in Matt Serifini's novel, OCEAN GRAVE. whistle-stop.com/media/catalog/product/cache/fa2c82e8e2c1fbaa870cdb90b9f5026/1/4/14575.jpg

      @@dubuyajay9964 Honestly I don't like the JW Mosasaur. It's too big, big enough to fight Godzilla, and it has more of a crocodile-like appearance. I like the modern renditions of Mosasaurs being much more sleak and better adapted for swimming fast.

    Can’t believe they showed that guys balls in the final cut! I’m still laughing at it!!!!
    Here in Brazil, back in the early 90s I rented a VHS about Dinosaurs, how could a movie with the lead actor named Michael Sopkiw be bad? Well, it was actually funny and it was filmed in Brazil and directed by Michele Massimo Tarantini (didn’t know ANY of this, of course, just thought it was a Brazilian movie because there were many local actors). Really weird movie, mixes Indiana Jones and Italian canibal movies. It’s called “Perdidos no Vale dos Dinossauros” or “Nudo e selvaggio” or “Massacre in Dinosaur Valley” or so on and so forth (actually rented it 2 times because the video store had it with another name and a completely different art cover. Fooled twice).
    Don’t know why I wrote this much, I guess this movie made me think about this other movie (haven’t seen it since that time, I was a probably 10 or 11).

    The gorgeous Sandra was portrayed by Iris Peynado, she was involved also in "warriors of the wasteland" and " iron warriors". She also played an antagonist/love interest in the Italian cult comedy "non ci resta che piangere" (sadly it's not very popular abroad since most of it is in dialect and improvised between Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi, so the translated version doesn't work so well) . She still looks fabulous at 62 years old.

    When I was hired as the Unit Manager--Florida in summer of 1984 by Darla Warner's husband Bob, the US Production Manager, one of the first jobs I had was to scout, and then later manage, the locations. You, Mr. Narrator, are wrong about one thing: half of those exteriors were shot in Key West including the Aquarium, not in Miami . All of the helicopter footage was shot in and around Stock Island and Key West. You were right about the "Island Claws" location, used in so many ways in so many productions since Michael Caine worked here. Built adjacent to an old, historic bait shack that offered the best damned smoked fish and coldest beer anywhere. Thanks for the memories.

Devilfish was one of the few horror films officially imported to China , properly dubbed and I had the chance to watch in cinema when I was a child. The others I had watched were Killer Crocodile and Amsterdamned. It seems the restrictions were eased on European films.

    Brightened my Monday, thanks guy. I know T.V. Shows aren’t you niche but would love a Good Bad Flicks on Murder She Wrote. It’d yeah I know be prolly your lowest viewed video but I’m sure my rewatching would make up for it.

    I saw this movie back in the 80s and the only thing I remember from the movie is, the scene with the attacked man, they pick up with the helicopter.

    There's a movie called Immortal that has a hammerhead shark/octopus hybrid called a dyack. It's also part human because it's an assassin.

    Sharktopus at least had a proper explanation for the beast going haywire. In this movie, the bad guys invented it to keep people away from areas they wanted to exploit but didn't provide any method for controlling it. "Sir, our underwater mining team was eaten by the beast we created to guard the area."

    When I was 13, my friend Jose told me his big brother was going into acting, and got his first role. Turns out he played the cop (Cortez?) in this. I believe he never did anything after that.
    I'm always thrilled when I see the MST3K version, because someone I know gets ripped on.

    Awesome, Thank you for doing this one. I had recently watched it on MST3K and while funny they cut a lot of the nudity. I didn't know there was multiple versions im gonna try and find the european version and watch it with my roomies. We will give it our own riff. It is a fun movie though and I rather like the monster design.
