Hello Gash, As a beginner home brewer, I would like to say that your videos have been a real help. Getting informations from experienced people like you I think is priceless! I would have a question About the fermzilla, How could I proceed to draw a gravity reading sample if I was not fermenting under pressure yet? Or even at the beginning of fermentation before applying pressure as I understood that applying pressure early on fermentation isn’t too recommended. Once under pressure i guess a picnic tap would do fine. Thank you once again for sharing your experience. My regards Charlie
Hi Gash. Great video. Im impressed how quick you lift the lid on the All Rounder so quickly. That seal is great, but bloody hard to crack open for me. Thanks again.
I just realisied it was still under pressure... I dont ferment under pressure, I still use airlock. And that seal is very hard to open sometimes. Now use lid and prize it up to make it easy.
Every time you pushed down on that flimsy looking fridge shelf I was expecting it to break.🤣 A great idea using gas pressure to pop the top seal. Nice video mate.
Yeah I keep getting messages about it lol its much more sturdy than it looks, the bucket underneath is only a couple of millimetres from the bottom of the metal shelf, so if it was to break it wouldnt fall or anything Cheers!
There is a much better way to pop the top. Unscrew the outer lip to near the end, stick a flat head screw driver under one of the carbonation caps then lever the screw driver down over the outer lip. Works every time.
I'm dryhopping through the gas post by just removing the carb cap. I cut a funnel out of a soda bottle neck so it matches. The offgassing during active fermentation is way faster through narrow hole so risking oxygen going in is low. On second dryhop after fermentation I will pump co2 slowly through pickup line and do the same trick from the gas post -> co2 running out -> no oxygen going in. I will always ferment 30psi as my room temp is about 22 which according to force carb charts gives me roughly the same volume of co2 and when cold crashing I will vent it down to my carbing pressure and attach the co2 bottle to the fermenter so it will carb to my serving pressure during cold crash and be ready to drink straight out of the keg.
Thanks Gash Another helpful vid Dr Hans cracks me up! I've been advised to put the heat band around the top of the metal stand. Might take a bit longer to heat up but protects plastic from direct heat and will always be around the liquid level. I've still had it around the plastic a few times and haven't melted it...yet
Hi Gash. I have recently come upon your videos because I just ordered 2 55L FermZillas. I have found your videos very explicative and full of great information for when I receive my FermZillas which include the pressure kits and cooling/heating coils. I have not seen you use the cooling coils as you have fermentation chambers, but I will still throw my question out: I am trying to plan out my connectors/system before I receive my order, and also because I live in small rural Spain where I have little access to hardware and it all takes a while to arrive anyways. My question is how to connect the inlet/outlet of the coils to my water source - would a 3/8¨ John Guest to 1/2¨connector work? Will the 3/8¨ John Guest make a proper seal? - I see you have various of thse connectors you use for your connections and was wondering if you could let us know. Thanks!
Always appreciate your videos, so far so good with my Fermzilla. I found a round Pyrex dish fits perfectly under the stand to catch any spills from the collection container.
Great video managed to follow everything . So cheers. Could you do a video on the benefits of fermentation under pressure. I don't get it. Everyone seems to be doing it but why. Only asking because I don't know. Thanks.😎👍
You can speed up fermentation times by increasing temps. However certain yeast will then throw off flavors/esters. Fermentation under pressure helps suppress these esters.
I'm not too concerned about pushing temps for yeast, but yes sure you can, its all about the enclosed transfer for me, very low oxygen damage, hoppy beers stay hoppy and fresher for much longer! Cheers!
I’ve been using a crappy plastic heat belt from amazon with my fermzilla, no issues. It is the plastic sheet so it really only wraps the vertical portion. I’ve had it up to 90F.
Cheers Gash, I have a fermentasaurus that I use at home but would really like an all rounder. I can't seem to find them here in nz not sure why... also a great use for a frisbee in there to Mate multi use 😉🍻🍻 cheers Mate, Mike.
Great video 👍 I'm going to do my first dry hop with the Fermzilla. My collection container is already off. Do I need to let all pressure out of main vessel before screwing container on and putting 10psi in (with 16g bulbs as I don't have a gas bottle lol).
I think when purging oxygen with co2 the idea is to dilute the oxygen so much not blow it out. So 30psi then vented to 1psi then back 2 30 then vented again will remove 99.9% of oxygen via dilution
I really like the AR - it is probably going to be my gateway to pressure fermentation. I don't do much dry hopping, when is the best time to do it? Do you think you can use your Tilt to predict when is "the time"? Another great and useful video. CHEERS!
It depends on the beer but its usually when the krausen starts to drop or a couple of points out from the end of ferment. Typically thats about day 5ish (4-6) with a healthy ferment, the advantage of these fermenters is that you can see what is happening. A tilt would help, especially for beginners. Cheers!
Would you recommend the all rounder over the other one Gash? Looks like a bit of a pain in the hole for cleaning and whatnot. Cheers for the vids from ireland.
So is throwing the hops in without a bag the way to go? I've been putting them in a bag but I think the hops may get more exposure without putting them in a bag
I dont often aerate these days, just the natural aeration from the wort going into the fermenter but this is because I use dry yeast 99% of the time and aeration isnt as important. I've used most methods over the years, fish tank pump and airstone takes 30mins and is a pain in the arse. or 30 seconds with a Oxygen bottle and airstone, or just a good stir with a spoon or whisk. Cheers!
Nice video mate! Where did you buy that serving tap that you used to take your hydrometer servings. Been looking on Kegland but you know how hard it is to find some stuff...
Hi Gash. Do you have a recommended tip tube length for the All Rounder or is it the same as the Fermzilla? I’m about to do my first ferment in one. Cheers great video content, there doesn’t seem to be much out there for the fermzilla. Thank you
Had any problems with the fermwrap since this video Gash? I just bought a fermzilla allrounder but seen that they don't recommend using a heat belt with it!
Hi Gash, just wondering did you notice after you added dry hops and within 8 hours on the last brew I did under pressure, all the hops settled on the bottom of the fermzilla. Resulting beer even though I used 400g of dry hops for a 50l batch was not hoppy at all.. Did you notice this?
Good info Gash... I fermented your Jedi Juice in AR 1st time and had an issue with foaming when DH but I let it go for couple hours to reduce the pressure and all ended up well. BTW your Jedi Juice had success last week Fri... workmates came over and... I made a video but not recommended to watch!!! Too many "F" words there :-O. Cheers mate!!!
Hi mate! Cheers from Brazil! Thank you for your video! I learned a lot! Just one question: if I want biotransformation for a NEIPA can I use a hop bag in the fermzilla so I can take the hops off for the second dry hopping? I thought I might attach a nylon in the hop bag and screw it where it should be the extraction cap. And latter dry hopping with the rest of the hops. Do you think it is a good idea or should I just throw the hops from the top like you did and never mind about taking them out? Cheers and nice video!
You can try that for sure mate, as long as you dont ruin the cap or whatever you use and its air tight still, give it a go, I cant say Ive tried that method. My NEIPAs are lucky to be warm in the keg for 7 days so I dont worry too much the hops being in there. But go for it! Cheers!
Hey@@HomeBrewNetwork , I'm also thinking of using a hop bag in the all rounder to avoid hops being clogged in the floating dip tube, have you had that problem? thanks for all your videos, cheers!
You are more likely in the all rounder, but if it happens shoot some co2 down it. Its one reason I'd do my usual 23L batch but only keg 18.5L ish.. Again comes down to how big the dry hops is. Cold crash really reall y helps to get those hops down, better than anything else, I usually nudge the fermenter during cold crash a few times and help get them hops down. Cheers!
And why do you put hops at fermentation? Is it become part of fermentation biochemistry? Won't it be easier to put hops to finish keg or bottle, so it would be fresher aroma? It's only about aroma, isn't it?
You dont want hops sitting in a bottle or keg, keg can be ok if you're going to drink it fairly fast, but it can get messy and isnt ideal. Hops in a bottle will be nothing but trouble, nucleation points, when you open the bottle it'll foam out everywhere. Cheers and you dont want hops in your glass!
200 Gramms of hops??? Really??? If AA is about 15, I put kind of 15gramms at 18 liters whyle boiling :))) never dryhoped at all .. and what kind of beer is it better to dryhop first? Whit, or something else, dark beers maybe? I have 100gr of cytra hops, for example. So I should put hops at bottom of fermzilla at 7th day of fermentation?
@@Ахриманстоппер Some beers these days have 50g per litre dry hop... There are beers that are only dry hopped, no hops in boil at all... Lots of new methods of brewing beer
And why you mixing 3 types of hops? Won't it would be a mess? Kind of too mixed hops aromas? What is that for?)) Blended like parfume, mixed by professional parfumers???)))) You don't even know what aroma to expect from even one type of hops, isn't it?))) But mixed them kind of - it will taste better, and I will be looked like a pro, not rooky :))

wow never been this early. perfect timing too, planned to do my first brew in my Fermzilla this weekend. Cheers!
Good stuff, cheers!
So much to learn, thanks for helping stuff info into my brain!
Great videos! Inspired me to start with home brewing and now for the first time with a Fermzilla. Greetings from Norway.
Have fun! Cheers mate!

Brilliant idea. It doesn't foam over when you degass and then open the carb cap?
I glue together 2 PET lids an make an Y outof a bottle. Then i remove the gasvalve with a 19mm wrench.
