this is so beautifully heartbreaking. they did AN AMAZING job with producing ronnie and roxys parts in this episode, the happy partying was just like their trailers for their arrival to eastenders. ended how they began, circle of life. then the artistic death. just pure talent on all parts.
***** i can see where your coming from, it efinitly wasn't the usual 'fly on the wall' standard filming that makes it feel 'real'. but i really liked that the style was the same as their entrance to EE, which was over stylised true :) it would have been a pretty boring end for them if it was filmed as it usually is
It was a fitting end for them to be fair; it was obvious that if they were ever going to die it would be together. I could appreciate that the Producer had this Cinderella idea in mind and just wanted to run with it, but I just felt that things like the solitary shoe lying there was taking the comparison too far and a bit patronising for the viewer. What I did like was the meta-reference made by Ronnie when she said it was the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one. Definitely the producer's thoughts if anything.

I think it was a lame exit, they basically drowned in a hotel pool with little aftermath. Death is a fitting end for Ronnie’s character but it should have been due to all her crimes catching up with her. Roxy didn’t need to die and was merely an afterthought of this storyline.

This was probably the most frightening and surreal pair of deaths on Eastenders with the clock face, the dimmed light, the foreboding atmosphere, tolling of the bells and finally the climax where one of them goes under and never returns and the other one following into the same fate.
The story jack was telling of the clock turning 12 and cinderella and the horse n carriage ending their lavish appearance was artistic and perfect for the death scene.
Moral of the story: Don't jump in & swim while under the influence of drink/drugs or don't wear a heavy wedding dress (that'll weigh you down) in a pool. Alcohol & chemical water don't mix well together! RIP Ronnie & Roxy.

This was the saddest death in Eastenders in my opinion, happiness so swiftly taken away. Ronnie had just married Jack, and then she dived into the pool to save her sister Roxy, but her clock had already struck twelve, the dress weighing her down wrapped around her face, muffled her screams for help so they were inaudible and her desperate plea for help was left unheard until finally, the clock struck twelve for Ronnie, her time had ran out. The magic wears off and all that's left is the realisation.... She was done for and she was too late to save Roxy. But this final act truly showed how much she cared for her sister, even at the cost of her own life she sacrificed it all to rescue her sister even if it was a deadly dive. You can hear her SCREAMING for help "Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" as the wedding dress suffocated and blocked her vision. She died not being able to see and not being able to breathe, in my opinion there's no worse death than drowning. Also note the clock chimes "Twelve" times too in that final shot.

@ambzerambzer8800 it's likely due to how dark it must be being that deep she probably couldn't find her way to the surface. True her screams would definitely be muffled underwater hence why noone found them until morning.

I remembered this episode, I didn't know these 2 iconic actresses were going to be killed off, this shouldn't of happened , they both made eastenders watchable! Beautifully done at there last episode together . So sad the ending. ❤❤

Just watched this. Hauntingly beautiful. Such a tragic and poetic ending for the iconic sister duo. They were opposites, yet they lived and literally died for each other. Ronnie died doing what she always did, protecting her beloved sister. 💔😢
I love everything they did with roxy and ronnie. They made us fall in love with them for 10 years. And then at ronnie's happily ever after. Read a beautiful tale of Cinderella.. how Cinderellas grown turned back to rags.. her carriage turned back into a pumpkin.. A beautiful analogy of hownronnies perfect ball wedding was turning back into the rags of her tortured life.
Sadly i had a heath scare and lost track of eastenders for a while when i came back to it i was heartbroken to find out they died this is the first time i saw it at least they went together and are buried together. They belong together soulmates ❤
I wish jack saw them in the pool and he called the hospital and they were ok because they even have children and the show was always about them that I love I was crying so much when I found out they were dead but I’m also glad because there not dead in real life thank god! I loved watching them and how Roxy was so funny and Ronnie was the protected one to save Roxy. But jack was so so so sad I would be sad aswell if I was on the show Ronnie would never cheat on jack and she never cheated on him so Ronnie really loved him they never really broke up they were a sweet couple and even Sean he was away and he came back to see Roxy dead he must have been so sad and Roxy didn’t even really remember him anyway I wish jack the best and actually find a nother happily ever after ❤
A sad story of Ronnie and Roxy to die alone in the pool at night and I never believed that they have been gone for a long time to say goodbye to Ronnie and Roxy
I heard there was a third ending, where only Ronnie dies, Roxy lives. Roxy falls into the river from the balcony and Ronnie jumps in to save her. Jay Brown pulls Roxy out and Roxy survives, Ronnie drowns. People would say they depend on each other and one can’t live without the other, but Roxy can live without Ronnie as we saw her on her own in 2011-2013 when Ronnie went to prison.
The ending made me cry 😭 I mean I really wish they died a different way because in my opinion this was way to tragic 😭😭😭 drowning is horrible to watch 😢

I can't actually understand how Roxy died because you don't just get killed by jumping in a pool. Ronnie obviously got tangled and suffocated by her own wedding dress so I think Roxy must've hit her head or something when she went underwater.
i am well upset that they both died right after the big day we knew something bad will happen on the weeding day but we didn't though a duo will leave the eastenders cast.....i am so sorry for jack the last nice thing they both said was "the mitchell sisters and the branning brothers are in the same hotel,mabey we can do that double thing"omg it just came to a shock for us ....i want them both bk it wont be the same without them ...
Not a huge East Enders fan and this is the first time seeing this. There was No doof doof and end music. The credits just rolled straight after seeing their bodies while the clock chimed. Absolutely shocked and shakened me. Now I see why everyone here was saying how eerie this all was. Freaking soul crushing. How important and popular were these girls?
It's such an ironic tragic twist of fate that Roxy, always wanting to drag Ronnie down to her level in life, ended up dragging Ronnie down to her death with her.
There is no denying that this was a well crafted piece of drama but after all that Ronnie went through in her character's journey, couldn't she have been given a happy ending? Another brilliant character killed off. No wonder people keep returning from the dead on Eastenders!
Sean o’connor originally axed Sam womacks character, if Roxy stayed and Ronnie died, I wonder how Ronnie would have died. And the alternate ending doesn’t make sense, if Sean o’connor originally only wanted to axe Ronnie (hence why the funerals and everything was all about Ronnie and not Ronnie and Roxy and the walford residents grieved for Ronnie and less for Roxy) then why did Roxy die in the alternate ending and Ronnie live? Shouldn’t it have been the other way around (so Ronnie dies Roxy lives)?

I cried esp. for Ronnie. I always thought she looked like a Disney princess - stunning. Two of east enters favourite characters have gone! 😱😭😭😱 . Why oh why did they wanna leave! They injected glamour to show! I will always love n remember Ronnie. Roxy I shall mix cos she was a lively part animal. They could've gotten rid of other characters who were boring, n offered them a raise or more exciting story lines. East lenders will now be drab, n dull without them!
OK so my theory would be... Ronnie and Roxy got into some kind of trouble, so they faked their own deaths and disappeared to ibiza. Jack knew about this and lied to say that the bodies were theirs, this was to keep them safe, and to stop the trouble from following them. Amy later finds out that her mum is alive but at first believes she's a figment of her imagination. Amy eventually finds out her mum is real, but so does the people chasing her... Maybe that's linked to who dies at Christmas hence why the cast don't know anything yet 👀 Edit: "but we saw them in the pool" Yes we did, maybe that was acted out for the cctv to convince the people chasing them that they were dead.
I don’t think it would make sense is Jack knew. However, if BILLY knew, it would make sense since he worked at the funeral place and Ronnie could’ve convinced him to have her lay in a coffin
Biggest show mistake killing these sisters off. Especially both at the same time. That producer who decided that was a fool. He chose one New Years shock value moment over the better interest of the show long term. Today Roxy’s 14 year old daughter seems out of place with just Jack as a father and she’s not really connected to the Mitchell’s much.
Couldn't believe this when I watched it at the time story lines like this are usually leaked beforehand but I can't remember if this was but it was fantastic thanks to Sam womack and Rita simons .
Olivia & Hannah he was a copper once remember and knew Ronnie would never have left those kids behind for nobody or anything, made a few enemies and evil mother bk on and branning don't forget
Personally I think this was a right slap in the face for two iconic characters. These women deserved a much better exit than this, they’re both talented women and they coulda given us something more memorable than randomly jumping in a pool and drowning. Adding Jack’s storytelling did not do anything for me

I get Ronnie probably drowned herself cos she stayed too long underwater trying to save Roxy but honestly, the cause of Roxy's death still makes no sense. She was alive and well before entering the pool and are you telling me she died by hitting rock bottom or drowning? Swimming pool water is full of chlorine making almost anything easy to float so she can't have drowned nor hit the bottom.

Besides that they were both precarious even nearly falling off the building beforehand, the factors that make it silly are the kids are next door, Ronnie goes away for a "nightcap" when she must've been drinking for most of the day & night anyway, Jack reads the book for like another 10 20 minutes after the kids have fallen asleep, falls asleep after his own wedding with Ronnie still missing, Max falls asleep also expecting Roxie, nobody in the hotel is around including staff, the pool was open? 😂😂plz
Roxy must have been too intoxicated by the alcohol she had consumed that upon getting into the water and going down, her CNS had become too depressed for her to swim back up so she passed out underwater and drowned. Brain death can occur in minutes in the case of acute hypoxia.
Them saying “Its not just the end of an era, its the beginning of a new one, don’t look back” “don’t look back” could be twisted to show they are going to fake their deaths. Also, see how Ronnie and Roxy are floating on top of the water on the end shot?
As much as I would love it to be revealed that they faked their deaths because I miss them both very much, it wouldn’t be right to Ronnie’s character to fake her death and leave her child behind. She waited so long to finally have a child
Man I wish they hadn't killed these two off. Massive mistake on EE 's part. Same as when they totally changed Alfies character and made him Knobble Hayley, some bad writing. This was so bad. As a huge Ronnie fan she deserved a good ending with all the horrors she had to endure! Raped by her father, made to give up her baby, only for her baby to find her again and die in her arms the night she realises! Then Ronnie also realises she was there when her daughter aborted her granddaughter, to get pregnant with her high school sweetheart and first daughters father and lose the baby, to then have a beautiful baby and have him die of cot death.....the list of sadness was endless, Ronnie did not deserve this ending!!!
Coming back to watch this now Rita Simons said Roxy in fact did not die and she just held her breath and you can see that. The fact Roxy is still alive makes me so happy and really hopeful that she is going to return eventually.

I loved watching them and how Roxy was so funny and Ronnie was the protected one to save Roxy. But jack was so so so sad I would be sad aswell if I was on the show Ronnie would never cheat on jack and she never cheated on him so Ronnie really loved him they never really broke up they were a sweet couple and even Sean he was away and he came back to see Roxy dead he must have been so sad and Roxy didn’t even really remember him anyway I wish jack the best and actually find a nother happily ever after ❤

I heard there was a third ending, where only Ronnie dies, Roxy lives. Roxy falls into the river from the balcony and Ronnie jumps in to save her. Jay Brown pulls Roxy out and Roxy survives, Ronnie drowns.
People would say they depend on each other and one can’t live without the other, but Roxy can live without Ronnie as we saw her on her own in 2011-2013 when Ronnie went to prison.
They should have let one of them live atleast

Ronnie was the responsible sister. I liked the 2008 version of Roxy better than her last appearance but she still tried to change.

I can't actually understand how Roxy died because you don't just get killed by jumping in a pool. Ronnie obviously got tangled and suffocated by her own wedding dress so I think Roxy must've hit her head or something when she went underwater.

There was No doof doof and end music. The credits just rolled straight after seeing their bodies while the clock chimed. Absolutely shocked and shakened me. Now I see why everyone here was saying how eerie this all was. Freaking soul crushing.

It's such an ironic tragic twist of fate that Roxy, always wanting to drag Ronnie down to her level in life, ended up dragging Ronnie down to her death with her.

There is no denying that this was a well crafted piece of drama but after all that Ronnie went through in her character's journey, couldn't she have been given a happy ending? Another brilliant character killed off. No wonder people keep returning from the dead on Eastenders!
Sean o’connor originally axed Sam womacks character, if Roxy stayed and Ronnie died, I wonder how Ronnie would have died.
And the alternate ending doesn’t make sense, if Sean o’connor originally only wanted to axe Ronnie (hence why the funerals and everything was all about Ronnie and not Ronnie and Roxy and the walford residents grieved for Ronnie and less for Roxy) then why did Roxy die in the alternate ending and Ronnie live? Shouldn’t it have been the other way around (so Ronnie dies Roxy lives)?
It was announced a few days earlier that Roxie had been axed first then they announced Ronnie. It was the most stupid thing this show has done imo

I cried esp. for Ronnie. I always thought she looked like a Disney princess - stunning. Two of east enters favourite characters have gone! 😱😭😭😱 . Why oh why did they wanna leave! They injected glamour to show! I will always love n remember Ronnie. Roxy I shall mix cos she was a lively part animal. They could've gotten rid of other characters who were boring, n offered them a raise or more exciting story lines. East lenders will now be drab, n dull without them!

OK so my theory would be...
Ronnie and Roxy got into some kind of trouble, so they faked their own deaths and disappeared to ibiza.
Jack knew about this and lied to say that the bodies were theirs, this was to keep them safe, and to stop the trouble from following them.
Amy later finds out that her mum is alive but at first believes she's a figment of her imagination.
Amy eventually finds out her mum is real, but so does the people chasing her...
Maybe that's linked to who dies at Christmas hence why the cast don't know anything yet 👀

I don’t think it would make sense is Jack knew. However, if BILLY knew, it would make sense since he worked at the funeral place and Ronnie could’ve convinced him to have her lay in a coffin
roxy got her wish , ronny and Jack never got to move away and take amy with them . She always got on my wick , so selfish .
Biggest show mistake killing these sisters off. Especially both at the same time. That producer who decided that was a fool. He chose one New Years shock value moment over the better interest of the show long term. Today Roxy’s 14 year old daughter seems out of place with just Jack as a father and she’s not really connected to the Mitchell’s much.

Personally I think this was a right slap in the face for two iconic characters. These women deserved a much better exit than this, they’re both talented women and they coulda given us something more memorable than randomly jumping in a pool and drowning. Adding Jack’s storytelling did not do anything for me

Theatrelover99 Jacks son. his name is Rickie. He had a son with Phil's sister and she left in 2010,I think. with him as a baby. He came back into with Phil's sister in June for Peggy's funeral. But Phil's sister left and left him with Jack. hope that helps.

I get Ronnie probably drowned herself cos she stayed too long underwater trying to save Roxy but honestly, the cause of Roxy's death still makes no sense. She was alive and well before entering the pool and are you telling me she died by hitting rock bottom or drowning? Swimming pool water is full of chlorine making almost anything easy to float so she can't have drowned nor hit the bottom.

Besides that they were both precarious even nearly falling off the building beforehand, the factors that make it silly are the kids are next door, Ronnie goes away for a "nightcap" when she must've been drinking for most of the day & night anyway, Jack reads the book for like another 10 20 minutes after the kids have fallen asleep, falls asleep after his own wedding with Ronnie still missing, Max falls asleep also expecting Roxie, nobody in the hotel is around including staff, the pool was open? 😂😂plz

Roxy must have been too intoxicated by the alcohol she had consumed that upon getting into the water and going down, her CNS had become too depressed for her to swim back up so she passed out underwater and drowned. Brain death can occur in minutes in the case of acute hypoxia.
Them saying “Its not just the end of an era, its the beginning of a new one, don’t look back” “don’t look back” could be twisted to show they are going to fake their deaths.

Man I wish they hadn't killed these two off. Massive mistake on EE 's part. Same as when they totally changed Alfies character and made him Knobble Hayley, some bad writing. This was so bad. As a huge Ronnie fan she deserved a good ending with all the horrors she had to endure! Raped by her father, made to give up her baby, only for her baby to find her again and die in her arms the night she realises! Then Ronnie also realises she was there when her daughter aborted her granddaughter, to get pregnant with her high school sweetheart and first daughters father and lose the baby, to then have a beautiful baby and have him die of cot death.....the list of sadness was endless, Ronnie did not deserve this ending!!!

Coming back to watch this now Rita Simons said Roxy in fact did not die and she just held her breath and you can see that. The fact Roxy is still alive makes me so happy and really hopeful that she is going to return eventually.
