  • Don't be a sucker get as much for free as you possibly can. We all know we can get trees from different methods. Not all trees produce suckers but the ones that do provide us with a golden opportunity to get trees for zero cost.

Excellent tips on how to dig up, pot up and use the root suckers. I do this also for grafting up more trees of select varieties.

I had actually just come across your channel. I'm from Arizona and missed my citrus this year. Ill plan on trying some of the cold hardy stuff you planted.
Where exactly are you? I'm in 7A

@@FruitTree I'm in 8a VirginiaBeach. You're a bit colder than me. If you shelter your trees each winter you can grow a few different types in ground. If not you'd be limited to a select few such as Taitri, Poncirus+, Dragon lime, Prague chimera and maybe a couple more.

I tried the same method for a closely related species, Jerusalem thorn (Paliurus spina christi). The roots were extremely deep and unfortunately they all remained in the soil 😢

Thanks for the tips. So you did this in fall, what about early spring? It's early April here in MO and we have suckers from pear trees.
