The "give all my things to all my friends" line always hits me so hard. I had a friend pass when I was 14 (Not a suicide, but still extremely hard.) His mom let a few of us into his room to pick a "memory" and I came a across a toy that had originally belonged to me; an old Transformer that I had made a trade with him for something else. It meant so much to me that she did that when she didn't have to, but she understood the loss that we had suffered as well.
You ever hear a song that you've heard a million times, but all of a sudden it feels like the first time again? You just did that for me. Thank you for making this.
Holy fuck I've known this song since I was 13 and now I'm a Mom and it's never hit me harder. I heard this in my car and have never felt another likeaversion harder than this. Thank you for this. I didn't know I needed to cry that bad
Simply unbelievable, it's covers like this that like a version is made for. They've made an already outstanding song their own and absolutely killed it, brings back memories I'd forgotten I even had from listening to the original for the first time
I had a very close friend of mine that I grew up with, and we were best buds. One of our favorite bands to sing and listen to together was Blink 182. We met in kindergarten, and from then on, we found so many memories together. At times, we were on the playground being children, and at others, we were in college becoming men. But during high school, he had a close scare with suicide. I remember singing this song with him at the same period of time when he felt that way, and hearing in this version made me realize the depth and strength of the words. My friend was hurting so bad, and this song connected far deeper than I knew. Thank you for this version.
At age 17 I was in a small band. After a few months of playing we learned our singer tragically died in a construction accident. A door to a stairwell was hung without the stairs behind them. He fell and broke his neck we never got to talk again. This song hits hard. We played many blink songs. I miss those years growing up in my room and even though times where hard life got better. Wesley will always be my friend and I truly believe we will get to talk again.
I've heard the original many times and I love Blink 182 but I just realized I missed a lot of lyrics from the original. Wow.. one of the most beautiful and haunting songs I've ever heard lyrically and to think a lot of people dismissed them for being silly and weird.
I used to fall asleep to this song on repeat when I was a teenager. Helped me go through some tough times. This is such a lovely version. Thanks for this.
I was having a weird day and thought “hmm maybe Adam’s song will hit?” Listened. Then thought “what if there’s a softer cover bet it’ll be good?”. Find this. Flash forward to the first chorus. I’m driving and balling, like ugly crying to this. I have work in like 15 mins haha. I can’t go in looking like this. And if I tell them why I will be roasted for eternity haha. Great Fucking cover man. Bravo.
I heard this song last in my teens and I didn't quite understand what it meant, and now to hear it again at this age and it suddenly felt so melancholic.
I never thought I'd die alone I laughed the loudest, who'd have known? I trace the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all I took my time, I hurried up The choice was mine, I didn't think enough I'm too depressed to go on You'll be sorry when I'm gone I never conquered, rarely came Sixteen just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, we'd survived I couldn't wait 'til I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never thought I'd die alone Another six months I'll be unknown Give all my things to all my friends You'll never step foot in my room again You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time that I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall Please tell mom this is not her fault I never conquered, rarely came Sixteen just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never conquered, rarely came Tomorrow holds such better days Days when I can still feel alive When I can't wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, I've survived I can't wait 'til I get home To pass the time in my room alone
Amazing cover, the original always hits home, this one is more melancholic, same reaction. bless all who are grieving suicide or feel suicidal. much love x The tour was over, we survived.

Aw man this story made me cry, sorry for your loss man
😭😭 c'mon men
💕💕
❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing that I choked up reading this ♥️
for when the original doesn't make you cry as much as you'd like
This is a soulless Walmart version of the song
@@skypekai nah
@William Bodie just saying something is soulless, doesn't make it so
Try not be so childish. Mark Hoppus would be embarrassed you're a blink fan
Naw super cute what a time capsule
@@skypekai I gotta agree tbh it doesn’t have the aggression like original slowing it doesn’t make it sadder
love u red drum + shoutout all my band members: chris lanzon, jerome blazé, ruby coulston and E^ST
Great cover mate, absolutely nailed it
loved this rendition!
Great work mate, like how the reprise at the end had a somewhat hopeful vibe.
Obsessed with this my man
Well done!
You ever hear a song that you've heard a million times, but all of a sudden it feels like the first time again? You just did that for me. Thank you for making this.
Man, this is like death cab for cutie meets blink.
Love its
So true!!!
This.
Thought the same thing too

❤️
Shit. I think I was about 11-12 when it came out. So crazy to think about. Had a kid only 6-7 years after first hearing Blink 182.
yeah, same, just cry for all of it
Yeah it really hits different as an adult for sure.
❤❤❤
I'm getting massive movie soundtrack vibes. Potentially even vibes of ugly crying to the main character's best friend's death. Nailed this cover.
like ryan atwood reminiscing about marissa cooper
Like John Barton’s death in ‘Looking for Alibrandi’
Crying in the rain on your knees as the camera pans out
Omg yes! Glad I’m not the only one who imagines movie scenes to match the songs I hear.
Nerd
What a brilliant take on a classic. Well done Nick this is what like a version is about
This how brilliant artists pay tribute to the masters. Unbelievable.
Love this version, really suits the haunting lyrics. "Please tell mom this is not her fault" 😢
I kind of wish the song ended there. such a moment.

Well okay I’m crying. This song has always been such a massive tear jerker since I was a kid.

This was a really good version and the message behind this song hits hard in any version of it
True, I’m a fifo worker with the lyrics ‘can’t wait to get home and close the bedroom door to spend time alone’ sorta summing it up unfortunately.
@@TheGreydogg stay strong brother.
@@bigjuice5821 thanks for the thoughts mate 👍
I think I’ve listened to this cover maybe 50 times. Incredible, well done Nick and your musicians!!
I didn't need to cry like that but here we are.
I love the OG and I love this cover.
I sincerely hope the Blink 182 guys have seen this. I have no doubt they'd be honoured to have this cover. He absolutely nails this. It's brilliant
Mark often says he watches covers of their big hits, so he probably has at least!
I genuinely think this might be one of the greatest covers of all time. So beautiful.
Thank you Triple J for helping this American find bands with such talent.
Always wanted to get a version like this from Blink, there are some acoustic/live performances out there
But this hits so good
I used to fall asleep to this song on repeat when I was a teenager. Helped me go through some tough times.
This is such a lovely version. Thanks for this.
Amazing job with vocals, instrumentals, across the board.
What an amazing cover, well done.

This cover surely deserves an award.

For sure. Same here.
Well I didn’t realise at 35 I could
still cry again to this song
I love this! So raw and powerful. Thanks for sharing.
wonderful cover. this version really touches the message in a new way while bringing up old feelings. Love it.
Out now on all streaming platforms x
You did such a good job, mate. holy_shit
Such an amazing cover. Haven’t stopped listening to it.
What are the guitar chords, Nick?
I’m like weeping watching this and the musicians are smiling softly performing like they should all be bawling too????
This is just simply stunning.
Hauntingly beautiful
WOW! From a huge Blink fan this is so good! Great job.
This is the best cover version I’ve ever heard 🥹 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Such a beautiful cover of one of my favourite blink songs. Fantastic!
I keep coming back to listen to this, it's so good
This cover sounds like what hurt feels like in the best way
Fooking amazing!! Hugs to all blink era peeps
Absolutely beautiful
Not me working from home with this on repeat and ugly crying.
Hang in there sister x
That was simply beautiful
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest, who'd have known?
I trace the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait 'til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I've survived
I can't wait 'til I get home
To pass the time in my room alone
Even before the vocals started, I knew this would be epic
So beautiful. I'm tearing up over here!
Gorgeous. Angelic.
When the woman started singing i nearly cried. I love this take on this song
E*st rocks
That's how to cover a song! Make it your own. Perfect 🥰
That note hold at 3:47 is so brilliantly placed by the backup vocalists. Incredible.
Beautiful cover! 👌🏻
I’m not crying, my eyes are leaking again.
Top 3 best Like a Version cover, easy
This was awesome. Thank you.
He made the song sound like The Cure made it instead 😩🖐🏼 and I fucking love it
Great comparison, and the song Blink did with Robert Smith shows that The Cure + Blink just works.
It's really unbelievable this didn't make it to the Triple J Like a Version Top 100
Agreed, what an amazing version, if the original wasn’t sad enough lol
Great song choice and performance
Massive massive fan of blink 182 Herr and I have to say oh my gosh how.emotional this cover was
So cool to see how far Nick has come
Yes.

Nice work, Nick. Quite transformative. Appreciated it!
Wow, just wow
What a lovely voice!
I wonder what blink 182 would think of this. Very different and massive effort 💯 that blink album was a large my part of my youth
Same
I have the CD signed and its one of my greatest posessions. I still love every song.
So beautiful.
Wow, love this. Also, this is an epic track from blink.
Nobody calls them “blink,” cringe lord.
@@teddyholiday8038 thanks for your comment. Rich and compelling.
@@teddyholiday8038 Pretty much all fans call them that? Why even bother making your comment? So negative, adds nothing.
@@spikeshinizle123 LOL nobody calls them blink. Nobody, ever. I’m a child of the 90s. Knew about these guys even before Dude Ranch
@@teddyholiday8038 must have been an amazing experience to see Blink live in the 1990's
