He Sounded Awesome Wednesday Night in Florida. . .3/10/2010 We Loved Every Song. We hope that he keeps singing for a long, long time. Thankful to God for his recovery!
I had no idea Gordon had such a time with his health - I thought he had just stopped singing....thank goodness he is doing better and back to singing to all the people like me who have always LOVED his music! His music reminds me of sitting in my bedroom as a teenager listening to his 45 with the snow falling down in Buffalo, NY! We love you Gordon!
Been a fan of his for decades - sadly never yet seen him live. Still enjoy his music which urged me on to visit Canada (I'm English). He's awesome. A Canadian Legend!
In my opinion...he is NOT a song writer....he is an amazing story teller! Absolutely love this guy and im ashamed that i really got into his music this late in the game :/ Keep up the good work Gordon! your life is one hell of a story in and of itself!
Thank you for your inspiring words and thoughts. I do have truly amazing talents but they seem to be only viewed by me......ha! This man touched the human race by the millions!!!!! Take care my friend.
The four greatest folk artists I've ever heard: Bob Dylan, John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, and Gordon Lightfoot. Bob Dylan, is the voice of a generation; John Denver was by far the best singer; Arlo Guthrie is the knight wielding songs of protest; and Lightfoot was overall the best human being and songwriter.
I remember a friend was going to one of his recent concerts(Moncton) and we got to discussing his songs. She asked if I could guess which song she really liked and I came back without really thinking "Song for a winters night".It blew her away.Great minds think alike,I guess. Thanks,Gord, for all the beautiful songs.
Love the era's of the past, when every artist had there own unique voices & styles. In comparison, we now have a sausage factory, where everyone has to fit a certain formula.
It was great to view this icon! I don't compare the sound or rhythm of this person to anyone other than Mr. Lightfoot. His demure attitude is a true testament to a very hard working individual who happens to have an appealing voice quality. There are some people out there who work very hard just to be able to work very hard. He and I are one of them. The only difference, is, he's Gordon Lightfoot and I am not.LOL!
granitePillar, I have seen him many times. I was fortunate with four or five others at the backstage entrance. When he saw us standing there he set his guitars down and said "Wow a following." He talked to each of us and thanked us for coming to the show. he also signed the poster for the show which I still have.
we love gordon here in milwaukee would like to see him at summer fest or indian summer it starts to get a little cold in september but i know he will keep us warm and we will keep him warm like he always has with his music we live a crayfish jump from lake michigan so i hope he comes in on a wave some day it's all about the open air and the music to me because he makes me feel like a native and a brother
Yes, he's special, but we're all special, otherwise we would have never been born. In your own way, give your gifts of yourself to others to truly be special. Gordon chose his way, you choose yours. My wish for us all.
SUPERSTAR!!!my mom was in total love with gordon.Ive noticed alot of his lesser known stuff is about whiskey and booze....i wonder if hes ever had a drug or alcohal problem....doubt it but you never know
The song "Sundown" is about Cathy Smith. She was a groupie, drug dealer and user. She gave Belushi the fatal overdose that ended his life. She and Gordon were together when he wrote that song. What do you think?
The Canadian RailRoad Trilogy needs more of the black And Chinese and native children and especially native children who are pushed off their land and into poverty and hunger the course of three years because McDonald’s plan to link a railway coast to coast well you won’t find me another fucking airplane
One of the greatest guys there ever was!! Gordy Lightfoot will live on forever!!
A very rare and beautiful person! Not a better singer/songwriter/poet ever!
All the best Gord!
Love you!
Saw him last night in Atlanta (March 5, 2010). He's looking good and he's as soulful as ever. We're so lucky to still have him. What a great show.

Now he's almost 84 (!) years old and still goin' out there! 😯 ☺️ 🎶

I love Gordon Lightfoot. I grew up in Ohio listening to Canadian radio. What beautiful music. And I love Canadians; such gentle and thoughtful people.
Gordon Lightfoot was and is still the king of Canadian folk-rock. A great songwriter for the times.

Yes, and he has spoken openly about this in the past.

First there was Dylan. Then there were Gordon.
Then there was everybody else.
He's always been a tough looking guy with that moustache. He's not a metrosexual but that's OK he's always true to himself. He's a piece of Canadiana.

There is no occasion someone won’t use for inflammatory politics. Certainly there will also be funerals you can attend and hand out leaflets.
