  • David Guzik taught this sermon at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara's Sunday service quite some time ago. In this section of Acts 4, Peter preaches to the Jewish leaders, Peter and John are arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin, and the Jewish rulers react to Peter’s sermon.

" and they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:47✝️
Despite persecution and other challenges the church grew.
    We are the church triumphant
    We cannot/will not be defeated
    Amen

Good morning from 😊South Africa as a 23 year old. I have been in the church all my life but I had never intentionally set time aside for God. Until the year 2021 I started to read the word for myself, I wanted to find the nature of God, and how to be more like Jesus. And as you can imagine some chapters I could not understand but through the enduring word website I have learnt a lot I still depend on it till today 😊. I am glad God directed me to the website😊 I believe God has listen 👂 to my cry to know Him and His continuing to renew my mind and word on my heart through the Holy Sprit in the name of Jesus 🙏🏻 Amen. We thank God for your website.

Today is September 19, 2022. And on this day, let us pray for farmers and their harvests. I especially take this personally as both of my beloved grandfathers were farmers.

There’s different reasons why I appreciate this study but one of the reason is that it’s not picked and choose to prove a point in a sermon or in a lot time skip some parts to not encourage people to question the speaking in tongues and all the rest that is more charismatic it is in its whole! I appreciate it and I realize reading it and having that more in depth, it’s very good to not read fast fast or shove the parts in corner the things I was taught existed only in Acts and that it died with the Apostles.
I was raised in a Christian home but Jesus came in my life only 1 year ago and I have and see the Holy Spirit like it s the first time I meet the Holy Spirit and I praise God because I read the Bible and it s like I had never read the Bible like if I learn the truth for the first time. And I realize a few things I was taught is different than what I’m reading as well as the way the Holy Spirit was working and should be working still today
I like that the study emphasizes equally on every single verses of the book of Acts.
As a teenager I disliked that book because I couldn’t understand anything and had too many questions that were rejected out of hand with a reprimand.
This again is a real blessing!

Gamaliel's comment was that this movement (Christianity) was from God then the Jewish leaders should not try to stop it. Clearly, what the apostles were preaching was from God, and so the Christian faith has continued to this day.

Why is John mentioned with the rulers and family that were gathered together? Is there another John or did they bring John with them to where Peter was?

Acts chapter 5 33-39 says if his movement came to nothing then it was not from the Lord. They disappeared from history in 333 ce and the cover, description and buyers comments of Nazarene Jewish Christianity on Amazon confirms this.
