So happy to hear John say on the Rick Rubin podcast that this was one of the best shows of the tour for him. I was there it was beyond amazing.

Yes, it was a magical night - Fenway, full moon, and Frusciante back with the band! I love this band, but had never seen them live. I always said I missed out, because the only way I wanted to see them was with John and I thought he'd never return. Well, he did and it was a night I'll never forget. Glad you enjoyed them too.
I thought John frusciante made the chilis until I saw this show. Holy shit Flea. You are punk rock. You bad ass. You are a god. My mind is blown. No one will ever beat his craft and persona. The ape like yell at the very end sent me into a testosterone fueled rage that I have been longing for since californication. Long live the Chilis 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I've been listening to this over and over like it's a new rhcp song....there are so many good parts. John's intricate strumming pattern at 1:05-1:26 , that insane little lick at 2:23 that he motifs throughout the rest of the jam, at 3:12 where the guitar and drums sync up during that fill. that build and release at 3:35-3:55... oof man, just to name a few.
I love Anthony, but shit...imagine if there was just a whole album of stuff like this? Honestly this is probably better than the majority of UL imo. Imagine a whole album of straight up RHCP experimental prog/math rock jams, instrumental epics, and put Josh back on the keyboard...hell yeah. Now *that* would truly be cutting-edge music; existing on the brink of what is possible.
I think parts of the jam were preplanned, but honestly that just makes it even more impressive. I'm so glad to see John back at it :')

Thundercat was amazing. St. Vincent was better. And then these 3 guys come out, jam for 4 minutes and blow everyone out of the water.

i think it's foreshadowing the psychedelicness of the next album, similar aesthetic to the album art, and after a few months i bet he'll be covered in more colors, symbolizing their immersion of the vibes of the release of their next album
