      BondiRescue I live in Canada so I don’t really get to swim in the ocean, we kind of ski in place of that so here’s my ski crash story: I was with my ski group and I was going at least 80 kilometres an hour and I hit some ice and couldn’t stop. My ski got stuck and I got launched in to a roll and landed on my face, keep in mind this was all under a chairlift where everyone could watch. I didn’t get hurt somehow but everyone was screaming like I had died 😂 and they clapped when I got up because I stood up from that crash I guess. Anyways easiest applause I’ve ever got!

    For those who said "rescue are mostly Asian" first, those are mostly East and south Asians. Their beaches are usually calmer because it is either very close to mainland or on the coast of mainland. Waves are not gnarly.
    Those who knows how to swim are usually south east Asians, they don't need rescue because they are basically Islanders.
    Aussie's beach are more like south east asians' and Hawaii beaches. Undercurrents are unpredictable and it could change in matter of seconds.

    I never realized how dangerous waves were. My brother-in-law, sister, and I went to Hawaii for a vacation and found this beach where the waves were big and there were hundreds of people there, but no lifeguards. I took a boogey board and tried to get to where everyone was, but the waves were too strong, especially when pushing against the boogey board. No one knew, but I struggled so hard to get out of the water, but every time my body got close to the ground when a wave pushed me down, sharp rocks were jabbing at me. So, I was scared. I tried to let the waves push me to shore, but they pushed me farther into the ocean than they were pushing me to shore. I thought I was going to die. I finally decided to just go through with it and when the waves pushed me down, I grabbed onto the rocks and dragged myself out before another wave could drag me back. I escaped with bloody knees and deep breaths. Waves are dangerous.

    • @TeeJayParkour
      @TeeJayParkour 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Lyda Yang smh Hawaii is known for some of the most dangerous waves in the world solely because of the shallow reefs that they have. Next time sit down for 30 mins and watch the sets, pay attention to how other surfers are getting out, and if you’re body boarding you should be using really good fins that won’t come off when flipping around. Also, do some research, there are beaches with smaller waves and no reefs that are much better for beginners, and then there are beaches that get huge swells with shallow water and a sharp reef...

      If you are not trained to rescue people from the water you should NEVER help them unless you have a floaty on or a board you can hand them. Drowning people grab you very panicked and will drag you down with them. It’s actually VERY dangerous to help someone drowning if you don’t know how to help them or you don’t have something to give them to hold on to.

    Some people are wondering why those getting rescued are mostly Asian. I think it's because asians generally don't swim at the beach. Tan skin is not considered beautiful and light skin is what most asians like, so they generally stay out of the sun. Beach outings are mostly picnic, kids wadding in the shallow areas, moms staying under a shaded area. Possibly when they go to the beach in australia where everyone enjoys swimming in the beach, they wanted to try it too.
    Im an asian, the beautiful beach is 5 mins away from my house, during noon, nobody is at the beach. You get more people during sunset where mostly they stroll along the beaches. We have heard of cases people drowned due to rip but it wasnt something drilled into our minds, even as a child, as the adults probably are not very aware as generally people are not that interested in swimming at the beach. Lack of exposure, means lack of knowledge, and it is really dangerous when they went vacationing and try something new without knowing the risks. Maybe there are already warnings but it would be helpful to post signages and warnings in different language at the beach and free pamphlets that describe the risks, what to do during emergencies and numbers to call etc.

    Why not change your danger signs to red and in the shape of stop signs. So many people can't read English but most people know what a stop sign means. You can write anything you want on the sign dangerous rip or whatever but they'll know by the shape and the color that's not a good place to go. May save some lives.

    I got taken by a wave kinda farther than I was supposed to go, until I couldn't touch the ground. And I've been taught not to wait so I yelled out to my older sister and she laughed at me but then notice I was actually in trouble. We're the same height but she still tried and got me, she did and a wave hit us, somehow taking us closer to shorez so we were fine
    But the fact that my sister hates me so much, I'm surprised she didn't push me farther into the ocean lmao
