Yes, it's unelectrified so it's not able to be used by the suburban trains. Additionally, the path it would take leads to Automatic Signals in the wrong direction, and there is no Absolute signal protecting the unidirectional Up line.
The Bassendean crossover is rarely used for *planned* disruptions, but it happened at least once last year due to an unplanned disruption, and I'm sure many times before that.
@@CJTheAllrounder It's not about brand, it's about the shutter speed being used. If its too bright any camera will try to compensate by taking shorter exposures, which happen faster than the destos flicker. You need a manual camera app or a manual camera to make sure its using a slower shutter speed.
Over the weekend, not too much people will be using the midland line, so only one platform use is needed for a 15 minute time frequency, same for the former Joondalup line closures over the weekend in the past.
They wouldn't need extra drivers, because they're not driving to Midland. They are probably able to use just the same numbers of drivers, just terminating the trains at Basso.
@@AbsintheBabe But double the drivers and only about 20 minutes off the return journey is not really balancing it out. Although I'm still not exactly sure how it worked because I saw drivers just randomly standing around at Bassendean for so long and I don't get why, but the turnaround time was really fast and I didn't see one walk to the other end so I'm not exactly sure on what was happening.
@@Kcritchett87 They just use the word shutdown to signify a more significant/longer and unusual closure which usually means it's including a weekday during peak hours, especially when it is for reasons other than just general track maintenance that they could do during a typical nightly closure.
Is it a chance if you could tell transperth to ask dovetail games the creator of train sim world to put like the transperth network on the game or maybe just a bit of the network
@@liamharken Yeah so you got to the train line around the same time and you didn't actually need to go on the train. But it's not that significant anyway I was just saying a general statement.
They also use that unelectrified crossover to get locomotives in to the UGL maintenance facility behind the museum

@@AbsintheBabe Yeah exactly. That's why it was unique to have this scheduled, especially on a weekday.
I checked the PTA Annual Review document today, the document says the new Australind DMUs will start construction September
@@namanish450 Yeah I think that was a bit delayed though. They currently have 128 at Bellevue I think.

Dude you have a good camera, the desto doesn’t flicker unlike on mine
@@CJTheAllrounder It does on the B-series (well most of the time). I think they have a different refresh rate.
Cj if you use samsung the desto on a series should not flicker
It’s one thing or the other usually. Samsung you have good vision but Apple you have better audio

Mark, how would that work, would the terminus become Basseandean, but Basseandean does not have a loop for terminating trains? How do they terminate?
There are crossovers before the station which is what I show you in the video...
@@TransportofPerth Oh, sorry, i didn't see that 🫤
Do they ever just use one A series on it's own now? or nah?
Yeah on Sundays every second train is just a 2-car (one A-series).

Yeah I know but during peak it's 12 minute frequency and so it resulted in needing the instant turnaround and additional drivers.

i sususpect the the crossover historical society is a one way shunting switch thus why it can't be used
