I'm the same, I've never listened to goth music either. I'm actually more contry but I have that dark biker, vampire part of me that loves skulls, bats, witches. You name it! Halloween is my favorite 😀

Visual Kei is where I started loving the look as well! People used to call me goth and I hated it because that’s really not what I was trying to do.
For a while I went back to pretty normal style and natural hair colors while trying to hold normal jobs but I’m ready to dye my hair purple (actually doing that in the next few days) and wear only black again and I’m 34 now haha.
Japan heavily influenced me but also some European bands so I’m a little mix of the 2. I get it, I get the look and the feel and it feels like just being YOU and anything else feels kinda weird almost embarrassing.
With my brown hair basic clothing for so many years I noticed that around people who dressed more like how I feel inside, I’d feel embarrassed for looking like a basic boring girl.
The Japanese can really pull off the makeup and dark aesthetic! I love it so much 😍
Oh and ditto on loving the gazette, they were my first crush

I love your style. I’ve always considered myself to be “Goth” since about 8th or 9th grade but never embraced the style in public due to societal norms. I’m now 36 and I’m finally comfortable and slowly starting to begin changing into who I was meant to be. 💜🖤🦇

Thanks for sharing this with us! I feel like I can relate to you a bit. Being the same age as you I too grew up around a lot of the same 80s rock bands as you did...also my father played guitar and was lead singer in a group so rock music is my roots. It's in my DNA. Altho I dabbled a bit into the emo/goth scene...I've always been into the dark look. Nowadays I bounce around different looks depending on how I feel but that dark side of me never leaves. Thank you Hyde. I needed to hear all of what you said. I've never been comfortable in my own skin, or be who I want to be within myself. I use a wheelchair and due to a disability. I don't let that stop me far from it. But society has kept me in this "box" and not being able to express how i want to be for myself. I'm 49 and still trying to find my path/direction. I write paranormal romance as my love/passion. Nothing published of yet. You have opened my eyes and my mind to do what I feel and want in my life. Thank you for sharing with us.
Please do follow your passions...life is just too short not to. I have a wonderful friend that is wheelchair bound due to cerebral palsy. He is a sweetheart and has gained lots of friends because of his personality...he goes to the bars and supports local bands...friends with so many of them. He likes to sing and sometimes the and will lift him and his heavy wheelchair onstage to sing. Nobody takes pity on him and as he says Ability is in Disability. I really like this video It explains a lot like how people put a stereotype on you. By the way, you look. I was in my 30s before. I really liked the way that I feel inside show on the outside and really be myself. And not give a s*** about what other people think of me. But it's people like us that really enjoy like the things that we like in the way we look in the way other people are allowed to look what they're artists. I completely agree about the lack of labels. I just call myself eclectic, because my styles has bits and pieces of so many different elements. Why limit yourself to one element when there is a world full of wonders out there to discover and absorb.💜💜💜

My first inspiration was Marilyn Manson when I was in school. And I can tell you that you are not him))))) And you know, I face this problem all the time - people want to classify you. What are you listening to? What songs? Why is everything black? why in flowers, you're a metalhead :) But I'm just who I am :) Metal + rock + punk + hippie + nerd + mathematician + sunshine :) something like that. I love my flowers and very heavy music. I only like some of X Japan songs, but I adore Yoshiki's piano and he has become a more adult inspiration for me than Marilyn Manson :) I love rock and motorcycles, as well as books, a blanket and tea by the fireplace. I just want to be me and be happy on my way :)

Ah I loved this. When I was an alternative 13 year old who didn't really know if she was goth, metal...or whatever I totally vibed with this. I was also the only kid in my school who was into the 80s hair metal bands and V kei bands so I was bullied hard for how xI looked back in those days. 20 years later and I couldn't care less what ppl think. I rock out the house with a leopard print dress and fishnets in with my massive green hair and red lippie and I get called a hooker all the time 😂 do I care tho? Do I f### 😁🤘

I’m surprised you love 80s metal. Now it’s great music and I love it. You seem very young to even know those bands, (but I realize you’re a glampire and I have no clue what your actual age is, nor does it matter). I really need to check out your makeup. I love new makeup palettes! Also, I think you look divine and nothing like Marilyn Manson. I like the band, Marilyn Manson and their music, but you do not resemble him at all. And while you seem to have a feminine side, so to speak, in my humble opinion, you do not look like a female/girl at all. This was interesting so thank you!
